Jerry Moyes was the last owner of the Phoenix Coyotes prior to the team declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Moyes has been stripped of all responsibilities as the NHL now controls the team.

Moyes joined the Coyotes investment group on February 15, 2001 when Coyotes Hockey, LLC became the new ownership group for the Coyotes. On Sept. 26, 2006, Moyes assumed full ownership of the Phoenix Coyotes franchise and Jobing.com Arena. At the age of 64, Moyes is the Chairman and CEO of the Phoenix-based Swift Transportation Co., a company he started with a single truck.

In December 2003, Moyes came to an agreement with the city of Glendale, Arizona to build Glendale Arena (now Jobing.com Arena), a new state-of-the-art building for the Coyotes that opened.

Moyes’ involvement in the Arizona sports scene is not limited to the Coyotes. He is also a limited partner with the Arizona Diamondbacks and formerly the Phoenix Suns.

Moyes also owns other business interests, including SME Steel, a fabrication and erection company based in Salt Lake City, Utah that contributed to the construction of three Las Vegas casinos (Bellagio, Stratosphere, Treasure Island) and the Salt Palace in Utah.

A graduate of Weber State College, Moyes is currently vice president of the American Trucking Association and previously served as president of the Arizona Motor Transport Association.

Jerry and his wife Vickie have been married for over 39 years and have 10 children and 10 grandchildren.
