Hello, I am with Spike Digital Entertainment and we covered E3 2009 Video Game Exclusives for GT TV on Spike. future internet

hi alexius, i wanted to contact you because of the changes you did to the "future internet" and "management of the future internet" page. i am the editor of the first, and also in touch with the editor of the second of the two. we had a discussion and had agreed to keep the entries separated, the reason being that there are far more "ingredients" of "future internet", which would occupy too much space on this "future internet" start page soon, and linking is probably preferrable.

so, is it ok for you if we politely ask to undo your change (the redirect etc.)? of course we value your input and were actually quite happy to see that someone really thinks in the same way as we do and hopefully we can further improve the quality of the articles. for example, i want to create an alias to "future internet", and call it "future of the internet" - how would i do that?

i am still learning wikipedia stuff, so i'm not too familiar with some of the conventions and processes. i assume you are one of the famous "watchers" for quality etc.?

thanks and regards, frank —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andersen Frank (talkcontribs) 12:31, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Dear Alexius08. Sterling Ruby is officialy represented in Europe by Xavier Hufkens. I don't see why a link to this site is not appropriate when there are links to Metro Pictures, Foxy Productions and Spruth/Magers who represent this artist in the USA and the UK. If you don't agree, please let me know. Best, sidevold. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sidevold (talkcontribs) 09:58, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I am sorry for provoking your possible anger. I did this in order to keep the page clean of that templates. You know I checked my references in order to provide valid sources, and this time they were accurate. But the templates are showing again and again. So, I do delete them... —Preceding unsigned comment added by FabioAbazaj (talkcontribs) 10:11, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi! I have replied on my page--85.226.46.215 (talk) 14:42, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Original thread from User talk:85.226.46.215

I do not understand? That was developing and clarifying the title of the section in accordance with the text? --85.226.46.215 (talk) 14:41, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I think that using periods on the title would make the article inconsistent in formatting. Sorry if I reverted it instead of just altering. Alexius08 (talk) 14:46, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I see. Perhaps you are right. The title just seemed to lack something to me; it seemed to be uncomplete I guess. Perhaps you have a better suggestion. --85.226.46.215 (talk) 14:47, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd suggest renaming that section into "Career", describing the contents best. Alexius08 (talk) 14:49, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but the whole article mainly treats that subject; this section concentrates on her career in Finland as a historical pioneer and theatre reformer. --85.226.46.215 (talk) 14:53, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I see. What about "Early Career" instead? The "Background" section concentrates on her heritage, and "Later life" discusses about her later work. Alexius08 (talk) 14:57, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps; the articles three sections treats: background and earliest career; the most famous part of her career; and her later career. The earliest career is treated in the Background section. Her most famous period is treated in the next section, and it require its own section, as there is a lot of things to say about this period; and her later career is treated in the last section. It is a little hard. Perhaps: Early career, Theatre reformist and Later career? I am unsure, but I feel I can trust you, (or someone else interested), to solve this. --85.226.46.215 (talk) 15:16, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I am about to rename the two leading sections into "Early career", and "Reforms", respectively. If you think those headers mismatch with their content, you can rename them. Alexius08 (talk) 22:56, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
That's fine, thank you!--85.226.44.190 (talk) 10:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Is there a policy against including a link to a user's own company on a user's own user page? MaverickSolutions (talk) 05:12, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Personally, I regard it as advertising, considering your username. I may suggest you to request a username change to avoid future problems. Thank you. Alexius08 (talk) 05:16, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

CSD taggings

Just curious, where did you come across all these old spammy userpages? Someguy1221 (talk) 05:49, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I searched Wikipedia for "solution" (a word often used by advertisers), which returns 8000 pages as of 07:20, 13 April 2009 (UTC). If I encounter a userpage that is promotional in tone, I just tag it with {{db-spam}}. Alexius08 (talk) 07:21, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Good job finding so many! -- Mentifisto 09:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Be more careful though. I have a lot of work declining all those you placed on sandboxes in userspace. Sandboxes and unfinished drafts can often contain such language but they were created to allow people to work on them, so deletion would be counter-productive. Regards SoWhy 07:09, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
In addition, if the first edit on such a page is an admin userfication of a previously deleted page, then it indicates that the page was userfied as the result of a good faith request to work on the page to make it less spammy. Tagging such a page just creates extra work and potentially creates an impression that wikipedia is an atmosphere of hostility for new users. It would be preferential to just leave the user a message on their talk page and ask them if they are still intending to improve the page. It may also cause confusion for a user, because the message you leave them to notify them that their page was nominated for deletion tells them that if it is deleted, that they can request an admin to userfy it.... can you see how that is circular logic? Thanks. Jerry delusional ¤ kangaroo 17:20, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

re CSD User:Johanna sc/Sandbox

Just outta curiosity, can you nominate a user's sandbox if it's not an actual article? Granted, I have not really looked at the page in question in this case, I was just curious. I'm using my sandbox for some test edits that could wind up being worthy of a speedy delete, but they are merely test edits, not necessarily something I'd post live on the `pedia. Nicktfx (talk) 03:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I see now the page is older than dirt and had issues in the past. The question still stands, though. Nicktfx (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:52, 14 April 2009 (UTC).
I nominated it for speedy deletion since it contains promotional content with no signs of improvement from the user. Also, take note that the user hasn't edited Wikipedia since November 2008. Alexius08 (talk) 03:54, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Alexis: you have issued a warning saying I was commiting vandalism at Kent Hovind's article page: Can you explain why is it so? I did submit what I think is a valid reason for deleting personal opinions out of the contents of the article. Please reply soon. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.180.187.113 (talk) 00:40, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

What the heck?

you tagged my USER PAGE for speedy deletion? it's my own darn page, lay off it. It was not full of "gibberish" yet because of hasty tagging, and because I do not log into wikipedia every day, I've since lost the information stored on it. -- DrDoog (talk) 16:25, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

You warned me that a link I added was a "spam link" but it's not. I added a link that provides an interactive course map for the ING Georgia Marathon on the Georgia Marathon page, there is no way that link I added was spam... it's a course map for the race which any runner knows is very valuable to have. Please explain how it's a spam link, thanks. logthatrun (talk) 11:19, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I see so because my username is my company name that was an alarm that I might be trying to spam...? Sorry I'm new here and did not understand that I could not use my company name as my username, is that the case? If it's really a problem, we can just change my username. Let me know, thanks! Logthatrun (talk) 23:32, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Pittsburgh Marathon

The link I added back is a link for an interactive course map, why can't that link be added? Logthatrun (talk) 01:06, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

We have the same types of links for other races on Wiki, why would we not have one for Pittsburgh Marathon? Logthatrun (talk) 01:14, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

What's the point...

User:Katebev MidlandHR

Hi there,

You have recently deleted my MidlandHR page. I am very sad about this and would like to work with you to edit this so that it is worthy to be on Wikipedia. Please could you provide a copy of the deleted page so that i can work on this and perhaps give me some pointers to rectify this.

thanks so much,

Speedy deletion: Gersh124

On April 14th an article was marked for speedy deletion for G11: Blatant Advertising. That is not my intention with this article. My plan is to re-publish this article and link the Brother USA article from Brother Industries LTD article as a subsidiary of the company. Please let me know what aspects of the article were considered advertising and how it differed from an article like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hewlett_Packard. Obviously their article is in compliance and the Brother USA article is not much different from their format. Thanks in advance for your insight. Again, my intention is to provide factual, unbiased information about Brother USA as a company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gersh124 (talkcontribs) 17:50, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Alexius,

Regarding your deletion nomination here, I'm a little concerned that you may have nominated this article for reasons not related to its state at the time of the nomination. While trying to assume good faith, I cannot ignore the fact that this Wikipedian clearly has some sort of vendetta against banned user MyWikiBiz. "My fellow Wikipedians, we should go for a war against MyWikiBiz" and "Führer der Feinde von MyWikiBiz", which translates to "Leader of the enemies of MyWikiBiz" indicate there may be a potential conflict of interest, if that user were to nominate his "enemy's" articles for deletion. There are indications that this Yahoo user could be you, including the phrase "No outside influences! No mercy!" appearing on both your page and the Yahoo user's. If this is the case and you are this Yahoo account, I'd ask you to withdraw your nomination of the article, which has improved considerably since the nomination anyway. I worry that a legitimate Wikipedia process, in this case, AFD, could be used in such a "war" on a banned user who can't do much to prevent it. Wikipedia's policy on banned users is pretty clear that declaring "war" on banned users isn't appropriate. Wikipedia wants them to walk away not angry, able to let go of whatever the argument was, and move on.

There's also a problem with the way you're conducting Google searches for potential reliable sources. As pointed out by another editor on the nomination page, you've done a search using Latin Google, which will not normally return very many good results for an American company. It might be best to use English-language Google when conducting searches on American companies. Better still, since the company is a historic entity apparently founded in 1838, newspaper archives might be a better way to search for historic information. I have a subscription to NewspaperArchive, which pulls up tons of old news articles that Google will never see. My membership includes giving someone else a free month of membership, and I'd be happy to give you a one-month gift subscription. Let me know if you're interested.

Best, Firsfron of Ronchester 07:21, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I share the concerns that Firsfron has set forth. Please refrain from any further interaction with or concerning MyWikiBiz or its owner, either on or off Wikipedia. Newyorkbrad (talk) 02:37, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello Alexius08

The reason I think that this band I enjoy immensely should be accepted on Wikipedia is that they have started a whole new GENRE of music, "Electro Nu Wave Disco." Eventually I plan to try a page about this as well, but I'm frankly surprised Wikipedia has become so narrow in its scope. If other bands have pages on Wikipedia for lesser deeds then I need a better answer as to why Scotchontherocks (talk) 08:28, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:GoogleEarth Image of ascot.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Alexius08 (talk) 03:47, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

i undid your revision on pandora hearts because here is no "later revealed" in character sections any information on a character that is important should not be said "later revealed" because the information doesn't contradict.

Hey,

You might look at the page history. I've already tried to speedy that page once, and it was declined. (Try prod next.) Matt (talk) 04:58, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I tagged that with {{db-a7}} for lack of web pages discussing about it (below 10). I don't know how it suggests importance for its broken grammar. Maybe AfD if prod fails? Alexius08 (talk) 05:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
(Whoops, guess it wasn't me that tagged it the last time, but it doesn't make a difference.) I'd tend to agree with you. I guess it'll depend on the admin that looks at it. Generally you can't nom the same page for speedy again if it's been declined once. Matt (talk) 05:05, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
