A citation is needed for the bit about Peter stabbing someone in the leg. --cholmes75 17:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1978 album is a KISS album

All four solo albums are listed as KISS albums on their website. They are also listed as KISS albums on allmusic.com. And according to the rather comprehensive book The Kiss Album Focus, the albums all counted against KISS's contract with Casablanca Records. In the future, I ask that you bring things like this up BEFORE making changes. --cholmes75 16:47, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cat #1

I tried to create an article for the Cat #1 album, but it keeps redirecting the name to the regular cat article. If anyone can figure a way around this, that'd be great. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 19:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gang War

THere was a gang war were peter criss stabbed someone in the lge, but he fled the scence, Why was it removed?" i took off the citation Ace Fighter.

Peter Criss appears on the KISS Box Set

Somebody removed the KISS Box Set from his list of albums, even though he played on Acrobat (live), which was previously unreleased. The same is true for the soundcheck recording of "I Want You" on the Box Set. Could it be, that Peter received a flat fee and gets no royalties from the Box Set? Is there some rule that Best of - compilations aren't included on individual band member's entries? Either way, the KISS Box Set is more than a Best of -- the Box Set includes previously unreleased material featuring Peter Criss. Why did somebody remove it? 141.155.153.90 (talk) 15:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

The claim that the book by Lydia Criss contains "thousands" of photos seems unlikely; can anyone verify this? Cris Varengo 16:47, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oz

Wasn’t Criss on the Oz TV Series? The article needs to mention that.

Yes he acted in two episodes as inmate Martin Montgomery (his character was incarcerated for beating someone to death with a baseball bat in a softball game). I added it along with his other acting credits. J04n (talk) 06:31, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Beth"

The phrase "Later, the two would form a band named Lips." at the end of the third line of the Beth section seems unnecessary. Anyone else agree? 69.70.248.73 22:41, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Criss Cat 1.jpg

Image:Criss Cat 1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I just added a file from "Wikimedia commons" I attempted to add fair use rationale to the file's page but I can't figure out how to edit the page to add the rationale. Is there something else that I should be doing. BTW I would prefer another picture (preferably a relatively recent one without makeup) but I don't have one. J04n (talk) 07:11, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The picture above from Wikimedia commons was removed without comment. Can someone please educate me as to why it was not acceptable and how to appropriately add it back. I agree that it was not ideal but until a free option is available, I think it is better rthan nothing. There is a similar picture for the Vinnie Vincent page. Instruments

Unless anyone has a source indicating Peter plays guitar, or bass, or any other instrument besides drums, I'm removing it from the infobox. Being a KISS fan for 25+ years, I can guarantee Peter Criss does not play any of those instruments, at least not well enough to call them his "instruments" and if he does, it's never been publicized anywhere. Video and/or still photos exist of Peter faking it on guitar (KISS Meets The Phantom shoot, Paul Stanley eventually took over the guitar duties for that scene) and piano ("Beth" on the Paul Lynde Halloween Special), but not actually playing. Without any references, it's conjecture that he does actually play these instruments, besides drums and vocals, of course. 209.254.200.110 (talk) 21:17, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Drum setup

Current article reads:

drums DW collectors series maple in broken glass:

  • 22" X 18" bass drum
  • 5" X 8" hanging tomtom
  • 6" X 8" hanging tomtom
  • 7" X 8" hanging tomtom
  • 8" X 8" hanging tomtom
  • 13 X 15" tomtom
  • 8" X 10" hanging tomtom
  • 9" X 12" hanging tomtom
  • 10" X 13" tomtom
  • 11" X 14" floor tom
  • 15" X 16" floor tom
  • 14" X 6" edge snare

I suspect that most but not all of those measurements are simply the wrong way around... Conventionally, the diameter (the more important dimension arguably) comes first, see Tom-tom drum#Modern tom toms. And it clearly does here with the 14x6 snare, and 22x18 is fine for a bass drum, pretty standard stuff both of them.

But 5,6,7,8 x8 toms is a bit strange... four 8" diameter of various depths would be a lot more common and a lot more playable at his volume, and four single-skin concert toms of these sizes would be even more likely. And 13x15 is likewise strange but maybe just possible for a tomtom, 15x13 still unusual but more likely and fits in well between the floor toms if they're as I've guessed below, or a single 15x13 concert tom might even make sense too. It gets weirder, 8x10 and 9x12 is a very strange pair of hanging toms indeed, while 10x8 and 12x9 is the standard pair of fusion-style hanging toms. But it's the floor toms that are really wierd... 11x14 is not likely at all, 14x11 a little bit rad (14x14 is trad for a floor tom) but matches a pair of fusion toms well, and 15x16 a lot less likely than 16x15, which is not quite so rad (16x16 is trad) and matches the rest again as I'm guessing them.

Anyone know? Andrewa (talk) 04:45, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I think the 5,6,7,8" are octobon style drums. That said, US magazines seem to put the depth first. I've seen both conventions used. Thedarxide (talk) 15:30, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, octos are single-skin 6" diamater and much deeper (I use just one, it's about 6x18, similar to one of Stewart Copeland's setups for the Police, photo here). But four single-skin 8" drums would match the strong and consistent fusion influence seen in the rest of the kit well... and doesn't support the general impression that the rest of the article gives of him being more rock and less jazz influenced, BTW.
I (blush) hadn't realised that there was another convention, I guess I just assumed that many drum writers and drum shop staff don't know what they're talking about (I mean after all, "secret alloys" haven't been possible since the mid-19th century, but claims of them still sell cymbals).
You're right! I just had a quick look around some drum maker sites (well, as quick as the typically over-graphic front pages allow)... Premier is diameter first, as is Sonor, but... Boomboom! Slingerland and Tama are the other way around! Still waiting for the Yamaha and Pearl sites to load... Hmmmm... Good catch!
So, which convention should we follow here? Obviously we should go one way or another in the one article, and certainly in the one kit description... And probably say which we're using, as there are two... Hmmm... Andrewa (talk) 21:21, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS Yamaha (USA) are diameter first, so it's not just the US versus the world... Still waiting for Pearl to load... Andrewa (talk) 21:31, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PPS... Pearl is diameter first too... it's Tama which is the surprise to me... after all, I've been very happily playing one of their kits for 15 years or so... Andrewa (talk) 21:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PPPS... Mapex also use diameter first, both on their International and US sites and also on UK and France and I guess the others too, but (Boomboom again) DW use the depth-first convention... and it's a DW kit we're talking about here. So that's the problem... most Wikipedia articles and most drum companies use diameter-first, but DW (and Tama and Slingerland and probably others) use depth first.
So I'm going for the moment to swap the bass drum and snare to the DW convention, assume all the others are already that (they all make the best sense that way), and add a note to that effect. Andrewa (talk) 22:52, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Also have a look at Wikipedia:Describing drum sizes which is new and I'd like comments on it, and also this diff which I'm not at all happy with but it's a start. Andrewa (talk) 00:50, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
