Sweethearts (film)

Hi dear! I looked it over, made some minor WP:MOS edits (character names aren't bolded), it looks good, but it needs references! It won an academy award, so that definitely needs to be sourced for sure, there should be something out there that could be used (IMDB of course isn't a reliable source). And since it won an award, a mention of the critical reception of the film should be made below the plot, reviews, etc. Hopefully something is out there in Interweb-land :D ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 16:55, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LOL You are not a beginner! You rock as an editor, you always have ;) And finding sources for very old movies like that can't be easy. It is a great article! ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 07:39, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can find all the article maintenance tags here. For a biased article, that is a neutrality issue, and should be tagged with {{POV}} or {{weasel}}, or {{unbalanced}}, but there may be other tags that are also appropriate in the section on accuracy. For poorly researched (which basically means it is poorly sourced) you could use one of these templates, {{original research}}, if it seems like much of it is just someone's opinion with no verifiable sources given, {{refimprove}} to request additional references, etc. Go through that list and I'm sure you'll find something appropriate. ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 14:45, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If he wasn't an actor, just use the Template:Infobox person box. ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 15:38, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For repeated citations, you want to use the 'name' parameter. <ref name="three">{{Cite web|etc|etc}}</ref>. Then, to use the ref again, simply put <ref name="three"/> with the backslash at the end. You might also want to look into using the templates, as they make citations standard, and are easy to use. Also, the fourth reference returned an error because it did not have the quotation marks (") around the reference name. One other note, when adding a URL, use the brackets, not parentheses, so there aren't "naked" URLs in references. One single bracket around a URL produces [1], while adding a space and title at the end, produces Wikipedia a name. [http://en.wikipedia.org Wikipedia] , so when not using citation templates, it is best to put the URL's page title into the brackets as the "title" of the reference. For that article, I put the refs into templates so they would work. I'm not sure why they weren't working before, and I couldn't get them to work without putting them into templates, so that is what I did, lol. ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 23:13, 25 June 2009 (UTC) [reply]

That's great that you added a plot summary for the article. If you want to see the article reach Start class, it's going to need a few more sections of information. However, for the article on Stromberg, I re-assessed it from stub to start. I went through and made various changes, please see the talk page for explanations of some of my edits. Let me know if you wanted further details or if you have any new questions, and I'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 03:53, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Either way, Answers.com should not be used for sourcing material on Wikipedia. I added two new sources that covered his obituary which cover the death date and mention his son. They require payment to view them, but they will still work as sources. It definitely will be difficult to start an article on his son. Let me know if you need any further clarification. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 05:53, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ladyhawke

Hi Shir-El too,

Please don't re-add the "sales date" on the article of Ladyhawke. Wikipedia is not used for advertising. Please take a look at the guide lines for more info. Thanks. --Soetermans | is listening | what he'd do now? 15:26, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference

I fixed the reference. The error was a result of "cite web url=|http..." which should have been "cite web|url=http...". Small errors like that can drive you crazy sometimes. Or it can be a fun game to see what the cause of it is. Or not... As a side note, the cast section doesn't need to be cited, especially by IMDB. If you found a cast list by a newspaper or other reliable source that would be better. The sourcing should instead be focused on details on casting, events that occurred with the cast while filming, cast thoughts on the film, etc. Let me know if you have any more questions. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, it definitely is a learning experience. I cited IMDB quite a bit when I first started, and it can be challenging to find sources to replace it. Thank goodness for Google, or Wikipedia would be seriously lacking in sources! If you ever need help in finding sources, let me know, and I may be able to help. Best wishes on your current projects. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 21:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For YouTube, if the material is copyrighted is recommended not to link to it per WP:EL. If in the YouTube video you are able to determine the television/radio/event where the interview took place, you can link to that. Mention who the interviewer is, the date, publisher, etc. For example something like: <ref>Doe, John. (the interviewer) "Interview with X." H65K Radio Show. February 15, 1998.</ref> Readers can then pursue those details to find the interview themselves. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 21:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Balalaika

Plot summaries do not need inline citations (as the film is a reference itself, readers can go watch the YouTube video/DVD/etc. to see the plot details) unless extra details are added about themes, details not explained in the film, etc. The rest of the article does need to be cited though for whatever other topics you cover about the film. Let me know if you need further clarification. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 20:49, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I went through and tried to reduce the plot some, it definitely should be reduced more. I removed the majority of references to songs, a specific section should started reflecting on that. For the censorship, that should have its own section as well. It's good to see the article continue to be improved. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 23:42, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Although our guidelines mention including the crew, I don't think it's very widespread in our project's articles. It's helpful to mention how the production of the film was organized and if there were any significant events that occurred. I'm sure it's hard to find details on production for an old film though. For cast lists, we've moved away from using tables. How it's currently set up looks fine. When you need help with formatting a table for the music though, let me know. For the Song of Songs page, you can't edit the title of an article (helps to cut down on vandalism), you can only move it to its new name. A disambiguation page should be created if there are several films/other items that share the same name. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:37, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of deleting Song of Songs (film), you can just redirect it to Song of Solomon (disambiguation). You should also update the dab page to include the different films so readers are aware of which ones that exist (for examples see A Christmas Carol (disambiguation) or Ben-Hur). For Torrent did you take a look at this dab page? It came up when I typed in "Torrent" in the search box. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 01:18, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The article definitely has come a long way. I've assessed it as start class. Although the article would benefit with a production section, it is probably difficult to find data for such an old film. I went through and made some minor fixes and added a DVD cover so that there'd be at least one image in the article. I'd still recommend trimming the plot, but maybe somebody else who has seen the film can come along and do that. For the trivia section, I moved the uncredited bit to the cast section. I'd probably recommend removing the remaining point as it doesn't seem to be that important to the article and as it would eliminate the trivia section from the article. For the censorship section, for the listed examples, unless they are referred to in a source, it can be difficult to list them as examples (even if it's a clear-cut example from the film). Without outside sources, it could be seen as original research. If you can't find citations for the examples, you can probably remove them, leave the rest of the censorship section as is, and allow the readers to find the censorship themselves. Anyway, good job on expanding the article, it definitely can be difficult to do for such an old film (the main reason I usually only significantly expand recent films!). --Happy editing! Supreme Court emblem

Hi! You can read all about the symbolism on the Court's official website here – also quite interesting is the scandal that it caused in Wales! ╟─TreasuryTagCaptain-Regent─╢ 17:50, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ondine

Important! - Round up what few ballet enthusiasts you know on Wikipedia and get them to vote on the proposed merging of the Ondine articles that would see the article about Frederick Ashton's production of the actual ballet, being merged into one about the music.

Quote: Crazy-dancing: Please chill-out. I appreciate you are aggravated [possibly deliberately?] by this discussion, but it's time to let it drop. And your cause would be much stronger if you didn't write things like "...the musos seem to be incapable of understanding an opinion put forward by people opposing the merging..." That is a personal attack and does not address the issue or help your cause. At least Kleinzach quotes objective guidelines - even if it smells faintly of “murder by memo.” Sincerely, Shir-El too 22:21, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Reply: Am not deliberately wound up, just very much against the merging proposal, because that particular version of Ondine is only notable because of Ashton. It's debatable if the music alone is notable, no other productions using that score have been successful, and the evidence from performing a few internet searches supports the point of view that the ballet is most identified as Ashton's work, not as Henze's, so in the interests of 'clarity' it would seem that the conventions of Wikipedia that they keep chuntering on about, should not apply.

I would say that you should include a note stating that you became aware of the discussion per the notice and that is why you voted. This disclosure may be helpful for the editor closing the discussion. I unfortunately don't have that much experience with this type of situation, so I'd recommend asking someone else or even leaving a notice on the talk page of WP:CANVAS. --Happy editing! Bethzaida / et-Tell

Hi Shir-El, I found references for the Bethzaida/Et-Tell identification on the Hebrew wiki version of the Bethzaida page, see for instance the Ha'aretz page linked there. Google provides countless others (an example). Some contest the identification of Et-Tell with Bethzaida, but there can be no dispute that more than one such place exists.
