Utmanzai (Wazir clan)

Utmanzai or Uthmanzai (Pashto: اتمان زئی) is a Pashtun tribe in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Uthmanzai are the sub tribe of Mohmand, before durun line they are one big tribe but after Durun line the Mohmand split in to two in Afghnistan Mohandara and in Pakistan Mohmandagency they both have Uthamnzais subtribe in Pakistan Uthmanzais live near Charsada and in Afghanistan they live in Gardighous and Dakka The great Leader of Uthmanzai was Haji Mohammad Din.

Utmanzai are generally considered to be a clan of Yusufzai, but they are, in fact, cousin tribes. Utman, the ancesstor of Utmanzais was son of Umar a brother of Yousaf, the ancestor of Yousafzais. They live in Charsadda, Topi, Kotha, Maini, Batakara in Swabi District, Abbottabad, Khalabat Township Haripur District in North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. In Punjab they are settled in Kasur District and on displacement after construction of Tarbela Dam, have settled in Attock, hazro, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Khanewal Districts of Punjab.

The Utmanzai hold the extreme east of the right bank of the River Indus, also occupy a small area in the south of the Gadoon valley, and early in the 15th century were called across the Indus by the Gujjars of Hazara as allies against the Tarin Afghans, and appropriated the Gandgarh tract from Tarbela to the southern border of Hazara.
