Shriya Saran was born in [[Dehradun]] to Pushpendra Saran and Neeraja Saran. She was brought up in Ranipur, a few miles from [[Haridwar]]. Her father Pushpendra Saran works at Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and her mother is a school teacher, teaching chemistry. Saran is their second child and her elder brother Abhiroop, recently got married and is living in Delhi. She completed her schooling from Delhi Public School, Hardwar. She did her college in [[Lady Shri Ram College]] and has got a B.A. degree to her credit. She has been training [[Kathak]] and classical dance from her young age and is an accomplished Kathak dancer. Shriya's first hindi film is [[Tujhe Meri Kasam]]. Shriya acted along with [[Genelia D'Souza]] and [[Ritesh Deshmukh]]. It was an average grosser at the box office and Saran did not gain anything because her role was very small when compared to Genelia's role. She then acted in the film [[Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum]] with [[Arya Babbar]]. The movie was also a failure at the box office. Later she acted in movie [[Shukriya: Till Death Do Us Apart]] alongside [[Aftab Shivdasani]] which was a box office success but she did not gain any attention. Saran then made her comeback in [[Awaarapan]] alongside [[Emraan Hashmi]] which was a first joint production movie between India and Pakistan. The movie was successful at the box office.
