American Football Bio Stubs

Thanks for the thoughts on splitting these up. That seems logical, to start by splitting up the players and non-players. Perhaps after that by position might be the "cleanest" split: while many players have played in more than one club, league, or decade, not that many are truly "notable" in several different playing positions (or that's my impression, at least). Project tags

Project tags are suppose to go on the article's talk page, not the article itself. Thank you. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:59, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RE: FLC

Worry not. Just remember that most templates go in talk pages except when they have to do with content disputes (POV, sources, cleanup, AfD and the like). The peer review convention is not so obvious and that's why I didn't make a big deal out of it; after all people learn from their mistakes. I mentioned it, however, because someone was bound to do it sooner or later.

Time is slow in wikiland. As a consequence is an important virtue of editors. Why not work on other articles while you wait for further input on your list? I've found that the wait for important votes on my articles is usually one of my most productive periods!

Hope this helps. Don't be afraid to ask if you are in doubt! -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 18:11, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It took me a while to understand wiki syntax for tables as well. I'd suggest you have a look at Help:Table to learn the basics and a bit more. The class="wikitable" thingy is only used to make tables look pretty, so you still have to format tables manually. For that you can use the "width" parameter and set it to pixels or percentages. I tend to use percentages because that scales better across different screen resolutions. Here is an example:
Header1 Header2 Header3
Text under header 1 Text under header 2 Text under header 3
The markup is the following:
 {|class="wikitable" width="80%"
 ! width="40%" | Header1
 ! width="30%" | Header2
 ! width="30%" | Header3
 |-
 | Text under header 1 || Text under header 2 || Text under header 3
 |-
 |}
The "width" right after "wikitable" sets the total width of the table relative to screen size (and some other stuff coded into the current wikipedia skin you're using, which you don't have to worry about). The "width" right before each header sets how much of the total width available a column can take. If you "hard set" the width of each column percentages have to add up to 100%.
Also, note how you can declare elements in a row in two different ways, what matters is that you have a "|-" between rows. The "|-" at the end of the last row is optional (I think). Most other parameters you can use (e.g. background and font color and others) are really HTML syntax, so you'll find few references to that on the Wikipedia help pages.
Hope this primer helps. Try to fix the table and let me know if you still have any problems with it. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 20:56, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure. I hope you still find it useful as a reference in the future. By the way, don't forget to sign everytime you leave a comment in a talk page. It's considered bad form if you don't. Thanks and keep up the good work :-) -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 21:15, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome from me as well. I have a special fondness in my heart for well-made lists. :) Working on this right now. Table code is simple once you get the hang of it, but it took a while for me to get the hang of the intricacies of it. Good luck on FLC, be sure to ask me if you have any more troubles. Oh, and thanks for signing my user page, those kind of things make me happy :). (You are now inducted into the Dmcdevit cabal and must do everything I say.) Rio Ferdinand

To be fair, I do not see how it was not necessary for me to compare one world class defender to another. They are always compared to and mentioned for England and in the Premier League, so I was simply placing this in his page.

Comparion to John Terry

They are 2 great defenders and very similar, so I am just comparing their goal ratio.

What is wrong with that?

The St Michaels group

Watch what happens when you oppose them. You'll end up branded as a hater of Wikipedia within the next ten minutes. And to cite a reference, see this whole mess. You'll die three times from the rambling before you finish. Harro5 09:10, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the edit!

Haha...thanks for the note about Phillips Academy, I was hoping someone would appreciate Prateek. As far as fencing goes, it's not really interscholastic...yet. There are plans to try and make it so within the next year...though that might or might not happen. Thanks for the de-link, though...it's best to keep in check. Yes...I just created this account. Wikipedia is sweet for procrastination. Do you go to PA?

Another One...

That's a great idea...do you have any other support for it? I could fix it up like that...but I really don't have a whole lot of time right now...you know, upper year...what year did you graduate?

Many thanks from Ann

Hi Jfg284. I just wanted to thank you for your support for my RfA, and also (once again) for your help with TerrorMaker. I hope I'll live up to your expectations. Thanks again. AnnH (talk) 19:10, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re The Game/Bigggie

It may be possible but I very very doubt it as first The Game west side rapper and Biggie= East side rapper so plus I always listen to rap and I havent heard nothing about it in nither from my friends and from google but it may be possible in the future. Romeo Crennel

no problem. keep up the good work and i'll see you around the wiki.--Alhutch 15:47, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I appreciate the advice and we'll discuss it in the Talk:The Game (rapper) section. The Stop Snitchin' Stop Lyin' is open opinion and not even relevent of The Game article. The user is adding information that doesn't apply to a direct article. LILVOKA 15:55. 5 December 2005 (UTC)

NPOV

Hi again. The concept of fair is a pov in it's own right - the npov stance is a definite western philosophy. As I said earlier, to be culturally fair means recognising the needs and values of the culture you are connecting to, not trying to replace their cultural values with NPOV ones. How to get round this? Well, from a democratic perspective, which is POV, let them have a choice of whether they want NPOV or pages written according to their culture's perception, expectations etc. Wiki has the capacity to become far greater than what it is, so why not encourage it to grow in a meaningful way? But that's my POV anyway on what NPOV should be. --Donald 05:36, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah your right!

I was checking out the arbitration committee site on the Wikipedia site. Thanks for the word. 7 December 2005 14:44 (UTC) LILVOKA

It looks like you've done a fair amount of work in regards to articles having to due with the Granite State, would you like to join our Wikiproject? karmafist 11:42, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rivalry

I've put the disputed tag back, and i'm going to head over to the Help Desk to see if we can get clarification. I just added a few more sources that say Boston/English is the longest rivalry (a few local papers, the NFL, etc.), but I want to make sure who actually does. karmafist 18:46, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PA Alumni Page

In the interests of specificity, I would probably go with using "Class of XXXX" for nongraduates only and not all alumni. This allows the reader to distinguish (or at least infer) who has graduated and who has not. I wouldn't mind seeing nongraduates' reasons for leaving PA, but it could possibly be problematic as that infomration can sometimes ride on rumor more than fact. Apollo Sunshine

I have to admit, I am a huge music nerd. I specifically go out and hunt for new and interesting music; it's probably a bigger hobby for me than Wikipedia. I can't say with certainty where I first came across Apollo Sunshine. Most likely, I found some of the band's mp3 downloads while browsing betterpropaganda.com, download.com, or a similar website. This was about the time of the release of their self-titled album. Since then I have seen a few ads for them on websites like Pitchfork; they are increasing a bit in popularity. Thanks for your message - it's always nice to hear from people with an interest in somewhat obscure music! Imaginaryoctopus 04:55, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
