Plot

Ultimate Comics: Enemy

Spider-Woman, the last known Peter Parker clone, gathers intel from Roxxon Energy Corporation. On day 32 of her reconnaissance mission the building is destroyed by a huge, purple, cloud-like creature. Spider-Woman saves as many people as she can, while blaming them for the collapse. Reed Richards, ex-leader of the Fantastic Four, has since the events of Ultimatum been living with his parents. Reed's computer detects an energy flux just as there is a knock at the door. Before Reed can warn his father not to open it, a purple, cloud-like explosion destroys the Richards' home. Sue Storm, genius biologist and ex-teammate of the Fantastic Four, uses her powers to hide herself from the rest of the world while walking in the city. At the Baxter Building she is surprised to see Ben Grimm. Ben has come to Sue for aid as he has begun to shed some of his rocky exterior; during their conversation Ben tells Sue he loves her. As Ben leaves he loses one of his rock plates and leaves it for Sue as "something to remember me by." Suddenly another huge, purple, cloud/octopus-like creature overtakes the Baxter building. As Ben tries to stop it he is thrown into the street. An elderly man is dining at a restaurant in Chinatown when a hulkish purple creature approaches the restaurant. An explosion caused by the creature makes the building collapse. The man takes off his disguise, revealing himself to be Nick Fury. Fury readies himself as the creature prepares to attack.[1]

Nick Fury's fight with the monster is noticed by Johnny Storm and Spider-Man, who are patrolling nearby. They intervene to help Fury and end the fight; once defeated the creature flees. Noticing the Baxter Building has been attacked, they save Ben and Sue and capture a sample of the creature, but the Baxter Building is almost completely destroyed. Spider-Woman is attacked by the creature but makes it to safety. Ben, Johnny, Sue and Spider-Man visit Reed Richards only to learn that he and his family have been killed by the same type of creature that attacked the Baxter building. Spider-Man realizes that if they could find Richards, they could just as easily find his home, which would lead them to Aunt May. The creature arrives at Aunt May's house.[2]

Carol Danvers, leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., is contemplating the attacks on America's superheroes. As Carol goes into the bathroom, she is met at gun-point by Nick Fury. The two fight, and Fury comments that either Carol is involved with the attacks, or she let it happen. At the Parker house, the monster prepares to destroy the home, killing everyone inside. Bobby Drake transforms into Iceman and throws an ice spear at the monster. Iceman shields May Parker and Gwen Stacy by covering the home with ice. At the Triskelion, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. enters the bathroom to report the Queens attack, noticing Nick Fury and Carol Danvers confronting each other. Iceman freezes the monster solid, but the monster breaks through, knocking Iceman to the ground. Thing, Invisible Woman, and Spider-Man arrive. The monster blasts Thing down the street. As Thing gets up, with his rough exterior breaking apart, he starts to glow. The Invisible Woman creates a force field around the monster, pounding him in the air and then into the ground. Carol Danvers and the Hulkbuster unit show up to help. Spider-Man notices that Thing is in pain. Ben involuntarily releases energy as he falls apart.[3]
