Hi, I put said article in a request for undeletion, and I was told to talk to you. The deletion debate was really close, it was 3 redirect, 2 keep, 1 delete, but in my opinion the reasons of the keep votes are stronger, do you think you could check it, please? --[[User:Tucayo|Tucayo]] ([[User talk:Tucayo|talk]]) 16:13, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Revision as of 16:13, 5 June 2010

Welcome to my talk page. Click here to leave me a message.

If you have come here about a page I deleted, you will probably find the explanation here; if that does not answer your question, click the link just above to leave me a message. Please mention the name of the page, and sign your post with four "tilde" characters ~~~~ so that I know who you are.

If I have left a message on your talk page, please reply there; I am watching it.

If you leave a message here I will usually reply here, but if my reply contains advice I hope you will find useful, I may place it on your talk page. (Talk page stalkers: you are welcome; if you see no reply here, there is probably one on the other talk page; I have decided to stop making a note here when I reply there).

Thank You!

I really do appreciate what you did =D

USER:CENTROCAPITAL/Alexander Sergeevich Afanasyev

Dear John, We appreciate your effort to keep us from littering the Wiki and your explanations given to CENTROCAPITAL in the last TALK

We ask you also to explain contradiction between what you said in the TALK to that what is in the article A7 citation:

"The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source"

. The exact understanding of the need for reliable and independent sources can be of great help for us.

With best regards. CENTROCAPITAL

Boston Gentlemen's Driving Club

I see Boston Gentlemen's Driving Club has been recreated yet again. Do you want to delete and protect it from recreation? --Biker Biker (talk) 22:13, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article has been speedy deleted before. Why not again? Nothing has changed. Same COI author. Same content. --Biker Biker (talk) 22:14, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL suggests to me that the club may in fact be notable, which is why I tagged it "underconstruction" and explained notability to the newbie author. COI isn't automatically a reason for deletion, if there is the possibility of a useful article, and with an "underconstruction" tag it's reasonable to give a few days to see what happens. (The template used to say, consider not tagging this immediately; I see it doesn't any more). Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:22, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Comment needing your input

Hi, I'd like to ask for your input here: Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Minphie. Recently you commented on Minphie's conduct and we ask if you could come and give feedback at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Minphie as the editor appears not to have taken any heed of the community's feedback on his approach to editing. If you don't remember your exact interactions with Minphie, it is detailed in the RfC/U page. Thankyou for your time, --Figs Might Ply (talk) 23:57, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How to Read Literature Like a Professor

Can you please review my new article How to Read Literature Like a Professor. Thanks! Gabithefirst (talk) 22:19, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John

I recently submitted an article on Inhance Digital with numerous 3rd party sources. It was deleted without explanation. Can you give me some insight about this decision and how I can repost without deletion. I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Glamzilla —Preceding unsigned comment added by Glamzilla (talkcontribs) 20:54, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request to add back section

An entire section in Moses was deleted as including material from an earlier deleted article. One editor deleted the section, and two others endorsed the removal, although their rationale was questionable (i.e. "Not particularly high quality material.") I posted two RfC's with detailed explanations requesting comments on reinstatement here. As you were the editor who deleted the original article, can you comment on what the policy is for a situation like this? This brief section had about 20 cites, all of them reliable, old and new. Yet there are 340,000 articles now on Wikipedia without any cites! Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks. --Wikiwatcher1 (talk) 00:31, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to be slow replying, but I'm afraid the situation is simply that you have lost this argument and may need simply to let it go. I have looked down WP:DR without finding anything that is likely to help you. However, I do have one suggestion: you could revisit the idea, which was raised at the AfD, of writing an article on the Feiler book, if you think it meets WP:BK? JohnCD (talk) 21:43, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am requesting that you re-list the AfD discussion for Brick Conners. When closing you did admit that it was a messy AfD, and I believe that the re-listing of the discussion may allow for a less-messy discussion that is not unduly influenced by the use of sockpuppets. Kugao (talk) 17:42, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although it was a messy situation, I found the result quite conclusive and stand by my close. Discounting all the suspected socks, there were delete !votes from three other editors with enough years of contribution history to put them beyond suspicion. So I am not willing to relist the article: if you want to reopen the case, you will have to take it to WP:Deletion review. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:20, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edit to your comment

I hope you don't mind that I replaced the "live" version of {{move draft}} with a nowiki version here. The live version triggers an entry in Category:Requests to move a userspace draft, which I am slowly depopulating.--SPhilbrickT 18:59, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, but I'm surprised it was necessary - I put {{tl|move draft}}, and I thought the "tl" prefix would deactivate it and prevent it putting anything into categories. I must really read up "tl" - I am not at all clear about the difference between tl, tlp, tlx etc. JohnCD (talk) 20:36, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I wonder if you are right. The page definitely was in the list, but after I replaced the text, it still was. I looked around and found another instance of {{move draft}} on the page, and removing that helped. Maybe it wasn't the "tl" version. I'll look into it. (I have your page on watchlist, so no need to inform me if you respond here.)--SPhilbrickT 20:45, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You are absolutely right. I had not noticed the template {{tl}} until recently, and vaguely wondered why it was being used, but didn't look into it further. Now I know. Every day you learn something new is a good day, so this is a good day. Thanks, and sorry for the bother. (I'll fix the edit.)--SPhilbrickT 20:52, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Thanks for letting me know, though - I would have started to be very cautious about using "tl" if I thought it wasn't neutering the template properly. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 20:58, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LTA issue

I wouldn't worry about adding that IP to an LTA page; the MO doesn't seem to match the brat's. This guy is more interested in VeggieTales. Thanks for letting me know, though. I thought blood would shoot from my eyes when I first saw the block notice!  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:41, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So long as you protected the version without the BLP violations, it's okay, excpet that an IP editor snuck in before you protected it and I had to revert their edits after the protection. Hopefully, it's okay now. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 22:06, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, of course I protected m:The Wrong Version - I did notice and was coming to revert but you got there first. Thanks. I've semi-protected for a month, then we'll see. JohnCD (talk) 22:09, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
