Recurring Characters

Aren't some of these one off characters? Talskiddy

Radio Times mentions "the Clean Chavs", presumably Ashley and his pregnant wife. RT is owned by BBC, the company which broadcasts the program. Is this reliable enough to edit their entry in the recurring characters table? The BBC webpage referenced in the article has no mention of them, and a Google search only brings back two results, both of which are from RT's website. 81.159.192.174 14:35, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

"Controversy" section

I've deleted this, since unless the supposed threat of prosecution comes to anything, a manufactured "controversy" in a country the programme isn't aimed and no doubt hasn't been transmitted in, isn't that notable. The sketch (as did previous ones) also takes the piss out of Geordies, but we don't see the people of Newcastle-upon-Tyne complaining. On top of that, YouTube links are a no-no here. Racist Discrimination for Filipina Maid

you know what guys, this is part of the controversy surrounding a racist discrimination on a Filipina maid showing to a brit a sex moves... This is REALLY DISGUSTING!!! Jbr999 (talk)

I think this needs explaining for the benefit of people who live outside the UK and therefore don't get the context. The sketch is a satire on the supercilious attitude of some middle-class southerners towards the north of England and its people, hence the reason why the family have a northerner as a "pet". Such people - the snooty southerners, that is - frequently live in big houses and have domestic workers from other countries working for them, often at or below the minimum wage. The point of the sketch is not to poke fun at the Filipina maid but rather to satirise the way her employers treat her (and Clive the Geordie) as sub-human. MFlet1 (talk) 12:29, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

True. Although according to today's Guardian the BBC have received 41 complaints about the kitten-stamping thing in one of the Dragon's Den sketches. Evidently some cat lovers have no sense of humour either. MFlet1 (talk) 07:20, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Show has ended

Music error
