Glorofication of murder
This video game has been accused to glorify murder against Fidel Castro, who has been victim of assassination attempt several times in his real life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.52.73.218 (talk) 14:52, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's true that Black Ops has been accused to glorify the murder of Castro, but those are baseless accusations as Castro is never killed in the game. What they do kill is one of Castro's doubles, pretending to be Castro.Benjaminsf (talk) 22:56, 15 November 2010 (UTC)This is a Video Game there isnt really a point talking about the death of castros doesn't match his symptoms at all. Voice Mis-attribution
Troy Baker is a personal friend. He told me today that he voiced Brooks, not Swift - the IMDb article is wrong at this time. I haven't found out at this time if Eddie Cahill is, in fact, a voice in the game - but Troy assures me he, himself, voiced Brooks. I am wary of changing it on the Wiki as I do not have a concrete source to link, other than Troy's facebook wall and personal conversation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AllyKatt (talk • contribs) 06:42, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
A Whole article?
The description of gameplay mechanics seems unnecessary and could maybe just link back to another article on one of the previous games, of course having removed this duplicated information the article becomes a little lightweight, maybe a Treyarch Call of Duty Games article should be created to encompass these sequels/expansions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.25.68.120 (talk) 20:42, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

The plot
The plot is as bare-bones as I can get it. Believe me, I have tried to trim it down, but the story is quite complex and some aspects need to be explained. It's all well and good to impose a 700-word limit on the plot, but that's not always practical. So instead of posting the infobox and demanding someone else trim it down, here's a radical thought: try it yourself instead of being so rude about it. Under the zombies section it refers to the map being called "Kind der toten"
This is incorrect. The actual name of the map is "Kino der Toten" which is "Theater of the dead"

Under the heading "PLOT" it reads: ...After a second play-through of the archive footage, Mason’s final words, as well as his presence in the crowd greeting Kennedy's motorcade, suggest that he assassinated Kennedy during his imprisonment.
It should read: After a second play-through of the archive footage, Mason’s final words, as well as his presence in the crowd greeting Kennedy's motorcade, suggest that he assassinated Kennedy five days after his mission to the Baiknour Cosmodrome.
Reason:If following the mission dates given in the game, then Mason had to have assassinated Kennedy (November 22, 1963) five days after his mission to the Baikonur Cosmodrome (November 17th, 1963) and not while imprisoned.

Historically inaccurate use of weapons
I'm pretty sure it was stated somewhere by Treyarch that the characters in Black Ops, due to their status, had access to prototype equipment that wasn't readily available. And stating that the Enfield is similar to the EM-2 - maybe you should check the first image here (http://world.guns.ru/assault/as22-e.htm). That probably will explain why it's referred to as the Enfield in the game. 110.174.65.202 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:23, 15 November 2010 (UTC).
- Is not the presence of several examples of the H&K G11 in one level quite inaccurate? Even if the engineer in question who apparently possessed them had access to experimental technology, I don't think he could have had them before the rifle had even entered their initial development phase in the '70s. TaintedMustard (talk) 07:27, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think the game made any claims of being historically accurate. ferret (talk) 13:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Isn't the level taking place in the 80s? Or does it show up in several? 93.218.161.106 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:26, 15 November 2010 (UTC).
- No. The level takes place in early 1968. It's a moot point anyway, since the section has been deleted, which I sort of expected. TaintedMustard (talk) 08:39, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
"Black Ops' status" doesn't explain absurdities like picking up an AK-47 with undermount grenade launcher in 1962; nor a shoulder-fired Soviet guided missile during the same time. Solicitr (talk) 18:20, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- look, treyarch made a good enough game. Who said it had to be historically Accurate? It doesnt matter it rules like it is. so stop complaining!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skeeter10 (talk • contribs) 02:02, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

user reviews
I think someone should make note that the user reviews are a lot lower than critics reviews. I have seen both opinions, those who like the game and those who don't and I think it is inaccurate to make the game look so good in the reception section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.70.97.19 (talk) 19:45, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Wii and Nintendo DS release dates?
Something is off. Supposedly all regions and formats of Black Ops were released simultaneously around the world. However, I checked the U.S. version of the Nintendo Channel recently, and according to its own list both Wii and DS versions of Black Ops was actually released on the 22 November (in North America), which is odd because we get imported copies of the U.S. Wii and Nintendo DS games, and I seen copies of Black Ops for Wii way before that date. None of Nintendo's official websites have any proper information on Black Ops at all! Of course, Activision's own official sources state all versions came out 9 November alright. Hope(N Forever) (talk) 00:47, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Online Formats for Nintendo versions
I was wondering if somebody would explain why the Wii version's online capabilities of the game is not supported by Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, whilst the Nintendo DS version has the NWC logo on the cover. Hope(N Forever) (talk) 00:56, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

The Secret Code
Hey guys, an underlying code from Black Ops has believed to have been "cracked" using evidence from the pre-mission briefing on the bottom right. It says xREZNOVxxISDED after using the first letters of every mission's designate. It is then followed by OR IS HE DEAD THERE WAS NO BODY IS NOT SAYS HE IS after translating the numerical transmission numbers.
Although it might reveal that Reznov never died, please refrain from mentioning anything in relation to the code. The Phantomnaut (talk) 18:14, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- If it is noted by a reputable source, then it is fair game for inclusion in the article. Wikipedia does not censor spoilers. Also since anyone can read this talk page, I'm not sure what you mean by "refrain from mentioning"... you've already publicly mentioned it. ferret (talk) 18:23, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- What I meant is that there is no place in the article to currently warrant an addition even with notable sources (sans YouTube) as it seems more dubious than anything. The Phantomnaut (talk) 05:22, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

{{Edit semi-protected}} Under the section 'Plot' please change "Weaver is captured and lose his left eye." into "Weaver is captured and loses his left eye." (lose --> loses). Thank you!
Reflex and Red Dot sights
It should be noted that the two sights are not identical as the article suggests. The RDS actually has a 1.5x zoom and the reflex sight has none, thus it has less recoil. Along with that it also takes up more screen space. Just sayin'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.170.32.198 (talk) 16:42, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- The size of a sight does not affect the recoil of the weapon in real life. Do you mean this is the way it works ingame?--Senor Freebie (talk) 10:53, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
German ban (or not)
In Germany, the game was expected to be banned by the end of November due to graphic violence, especially against Germans. Liez, please correct this and remove the "especially against Germans" part, as I'm quite sure we don't differentiate between German and non Germanic humans and victims of violence these days. With its current wording, the above phrase is highly descriptive of what is supposedly a German attitude towards nazis and violence but at the end of the day it couldn't be further from the truth and seems to be an young CoD fan who takes the freedom to come to this "conclusion".
- It's just not right, do some reading about why Germans can get hold of the Austrian version, with violence and gore and whatnot. I don't want to kick-start the discussion about how our 'bans' work, but the first part of the sentence in it's own right just rubs anybody wrong who happens to know the actual laws behind it (or lack thereof), but the 'especially against Germans' part is nothing but an emotional judgment, a brain fart if you will.

Adam Biessener
Who is Adam Biessener, and why should I care what he thinks? Should his name be used to gratuitously in the Controversy section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.42.92.68 (talk) 21:07, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- Originally, the section said "Many critics". I didn't add the original blurb, but as it only has ONE reference, I removed the "many critics" and put his name. He's a game informer editor. I would have removed the entire section but at the time simply corrected the suggestion that there were a bunch of people saying it. If there are, that's fine... tag it with some more references. Otherwise I'd vote for removing it. People like their controversy sections though and I don't really want to get into an edit war like MW2 had, at the time. ferret (talk) 13:35, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Regarding criticism
Please add the following. 1. The PC version of the game is so buggy that the British Trading Standards Institute have stated that purchasers of the game are entitled to a refund in Britain because it not of "satisfactory quality". reference: http://games.on.net/article/11163/Purchases_of_Buggy_Games_Entitled_to_Refunds 2. In a screenshot of an error message from a PC version of the game, the four Xbox buttons are clearly visible in the background, further evidencing that the PC version (and perhaps the PS3 version) is nothing but a makeshift port of the Xbox version. Kennedy edit
At the end of the "plot" section, it says "Archival footage of President Kennedy are shown..." It also says Mason recites random numbers. He actually says "11-22-63" (The date JFK was assassinated) and "6.5 millimeter", referring to the caliber of bullet used in the assassination. You should also link President Kennedy to John F. In the Audio section it states "Ice Cube voices Joseph Bowman.
