Uzda (Belarusian: Узда - (Russian: Узда) is a town in Belarus, located in the Minsk Region. It is the administrative seat of the Uzda Raion. As of 2009 its population was of 10,000.[1] Rabbi Moshe Feinstein was born in the town.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1450. From 1938 it had the status of "urban-type settlement" and received its town (Город, Gorod) status in 1999.

Geography

Uzda is located 72 km in south-west of Minsk, not too far from the towns of Stoŭbcy and Dzyarzhynsk, both crossed by the M1 highway (part of the European route E30). It is not served by railways.
