Mentioning the word "France" is entirely unnecessary: in the introduction to the article, the word "Paris" is linked. Anybody who thinks that the article could be referring to anywhere else apart from the capital of France needs to expand their horizon. And perhaps even get a passport. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.174.35.87 (talk) 23:57, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Ethinicity

what's her ethnicity? does anyone know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.199.189.59 (talk) 00:26, 22 December 2007 (UTC) Tyra is an African american. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.79.241.240 (talk) 03:39, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you saying she's of 100% African ancestry? Millbanks (talk) 20:53, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She's a Mulatto by the looks of her. Christopedia (talk) 02:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both of her parents are black. They are on the show "Next Top Model" right now.

No she is part chinese, i think because in an episode of americas next top model ages ago, she showed her grandmother or greatbrandmother who was chinese. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kathchick7 (talkcontribs) 19:20, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She is a mulatto by the looks of her? Give me a break. Both of her parents are African American (as well as her grandparents). You can see them here

The ethnicity is hard to say with americans because even though if she was of soley african descent, it would not count as one specific ethnicity as there are like a 1000 folks in Africa with totally different genetics. But even though i do not know anything about her Heritage I assume that she does have some admixture even it does not have to be visible in her parents or grand parents. Many African-Americans are maroons, quadroons etc. of some kind because there were brought as slaves and sexual relations between the Master and female slaves were very common. So white genetics are often blended into the african-American community. On the other hand there are also white people in America with some black admixture. As you see the colour can be "washed out" either way. A good example are the maoris of new zealand. the last pure maori died 80 years ago. All present day maoris skin colour ranges from dark to white and it is really more of a self identification thing of which culture you feel you belong to. today your genetic family tree can easily be tested and even though the thought of claiming tyras beauty for either race is alluring she is cleary of mixed heritage. just look at the fugly daughter of boris becker she has a negro physic white skin and red hair, simply not possible to say she is black or white. there are many greys and looks tell little about genetics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.171.90.137 (talk) 23:12, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Billionaire?

Is Tyra Banks really a billionaire? She is in Category:American billionaires, but I don't see any proof of her status as a billionaire anywhere in this article. If this is not the case, please remove the category. Thanks, --172.131.40.247 (talk) 00:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She isn't. Infact most people on that list are hypothetically billionaires but in real life, no where near billionaires. The way they are valued is based on their assets, which the valuers tend to over value anyway, for example a property which would probably sell for $1 million dollar in real life, is valued at $5-$10 million, as well as other over valuations. --93.97.181.187 (talk) 01:32, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cannes Not Capitalized in Picture Legend

Can someone who's been registered longer please capitalize Cannes in the picture legend? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Txh190 (talkcontribs) 18:14, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How tall is Tyra???

She seems very tall next to Janet Jackson or Heidi Klum. Does anyone know how tall she is??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.131.137.50 (talk) 03:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Banks is 5'10" but I also got to say that she looks way taller especially compared to other models who are all stated as 5'10" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.62.42.227 (talk) 13:52, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tzone foundation

I think there should be a mention of her charity in the article... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.139.247.1 (talk) 03:26, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tyra Banks Friends

Tyra Banks is widely known to be very close with fellow model/entrepreneur Kimora Lee Simmons(she even serves as a godmother to Simmon's two children Aoki Lee, and Ming Lee). She is also very close to American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken, Rusell Simmons, and others.

Recently, Tyra even mentioned on her syndicated talk show (The Tyra Banks Show[http://www.tyrashow.com)) that Matthew Knowles has now dubbed her an honorary member of the Knowles' family.

Because of Tyra's electrifying spirit, alot of the friends she posses were not mentioned, but the most important person in her life will always be her mother, Carolyn London. Banks' is very vocal about her admiration and appreciation for her mother's sacrifice back in her modeling days, when she would be depressed over the constant pressure and rejection of the fashion industry and her mother would be right by her side. Banks' mother actually quit her job and came to give Tyra the moral support she needed to continue in the demanding industry and become one of the most world-renowned fashion models. For this, Banks' is eternally grateful. --Urface11992 (talk) 01:06, 29 October 2008 (UTC)urface11992[reply]

single mother

Is she really a single mother? I've searched the Internet and nothing came up on this...Tiggerst (talk) 19:38, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accepted to USC and UCLA?

I find that hard to believe considering she doesn't even know what the words celibate and inconclusive mean. This isn't a mean-spirited comment, just watch her show any day, and you'll be surprised at how many dumb questions she asks. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 00:55, 1 November 2008 (UTC) Take it from someone from Southern California(though I don't know, you might be too), USC and UCLA are NOT very hard schools to get into. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheLemonOfIchabod (talkcontribs) 06:00, 15 November 2008 (UTC) It has been reported that she tends to put herself on a pedestal - especially when she has the opportunity to do so with her guests. There should be mention of the controversy around Tyra's treatment of fellow employees during the show's production and her sudden announcement that all will be fired when she moves location to NY. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.122.185.40 (talk) 00:05, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

¿Her fear of dolphins?

¿Should we put that phobia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.12.156.120 (talk) 23:09, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

editsemiprotected It needsto include thatsheis an african american with some chinese heritage as seen in an episode of americas nextt top model when she brought in her chinese grandmother. Also im not sure if it includesherroel in the hannah montana movie, if it does sorry.

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. fahadsadah (talk, contribs) 15:30, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In her shows she has illustrated overcoming fears by explaining she has what she considers an odd fear - that of dolphins. It certainly should be in the article but needs to be woven in sensibly and with a source. -- Banjeboi 10:25, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assets can be added to Personal Life or given its own section

The September 2009 issue of Sky Magazine has an interview with Tyra and states: "Forbes listed Banks' income from July 2008 to July 2009 at $30 million and her overall assets have been estimated at $75 million." The Forbes article they're referencing about that yearly income is also online.

Television Career

I first saw Tyra Banks, outside the run way, as (Malik Yoba)J.C's girlfriend/son's teacher on New York Undercover. She had a re-ocurring role....maybe five or six episodes/appearances. Is there a reason it is not listed on this page? Do you recall the year? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.238.1.109 (talk) 14:03, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Modelling???

Modelling has been and still is a BIG part of her career. Why not place this in the occupation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.138.10.69 (talk) 11:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from 129.81.131.219, 27 July 2010

editsemiprotected In his provocative new book Erotic Revolutionaries: Black Women, Sexuality, and Popular Culture, Tulane University sociologist Shayne Lee devotes a chapter to Banks, presenting her as one of many black female celebrities who offer women access to cultural tools to renegotiate their erotic identity and celebrate sexual agency and empowerment.

Pass on that. No evidence that the book or the author is notable as neither have articles here. Wknight94 talk 18:56, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Model

She is first and foremost a model, why is it not on the list?! haha i can't believe it. calvin999 (talk) 22:13, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tyra's Twitter

I've Just Added Tyra's Official Twitter Page.

Removed. Not in line with WP:RS or WP:EL. --BwB (talk) 15:43, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Philanthropy

Saw Tyra Bank's philanthropy page on Facesofphilanthropy.com, noticed her wiki didn't have a philanthropy section, so I added one. Sir. Somerset (talk) 23:42, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Career" section

First paragraph. Noticed that it says, "She later went to Paris, France to do some runway modeling." Respectfully, only parochial Americans say "Paris, France". Mentioning the word "France" is entirely unnecessary: in the introduction to the article, the word "Paris" is linked. Anybody who thinks that the article could be referring to anywhere else apart from the capital of France needs to expand their horizon. And perhaps even get a passport. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.174.35.87 (talk) 23:57, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
