::::That's a large set of guidelines.. Can you tell me specifically where you read that you must use "optical disc" over the exact media. Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Postwar, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Replaceable fair use File:DianaVickersPromo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:DianaVickersPromo.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AnemoneProjectors 00:41, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is User:Postwar1 your account? If so, may I ask why you have two? AnemoneProjectors 00:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:DianaVickersPromo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ukexpat (talk) 14:19, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Anemone! Yes, Postwar1 has been my profile since I've forgotten the pass to my older profile. I've been able to recover it, so, Postwar1 is not the one I use anymore.

That's ok then. AnemoneProjectors 21:23, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To be safe, you should redirect the User:Postwar1 to User:Postwar and redirect User talk:Postwar1 to User talk:Postwar. — SpikeToronto 18:11, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edited Article: Re-Volt

Hi Postwar. You added some interesting information on the Re-Volt article at Nov 17th 2010. I've been talking a bit with one of the developers behind Re-Volt v1.2 and we're quite curious about this. Do you have any further information related to the purchase and We Go Interactive Co Ltd? Thank you very much, MeshQuake (talk) 20:41, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Increasing image width to 256 pixels?

Hello, PostWar. I noticed that you have edited multiple articles and all instance you have increased the width of the images to 256 pixels. May I ask why? Fleet Command (talk) 07:12, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. Well, should I undergo medical treatment? Postwar (talk) 08:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your medical treatments are none of my business; but your changes to Wikipedia are. I asked because I though 256px is a new consensus and wanted to know the details. but If you don't know why you are doing a specific edit, well, I say don't do it! Cheers. Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Sherlock Holmes has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. — SpikeToronto 18:07, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:16691.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:16691.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

April 2011

Welcome and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test on the page S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl worked, and it has been reverted or removed. However, if you would like to experiment further, please use the sandbox instead. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Sir Lothar (talk) 07:16, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This was not a test. The game itself is not based on any movie. It only contains ideas from the Strugatsky brothers' books. Postwar (talk) 10:13, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry for test template, then. As far the article IMHO it's loosely (but still) based on Andrei Tarkovsky's film Stalker, so the category is OK. Sir Lothar (talk) 12:39, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:16691.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:16691.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. We hope (talk) 03:50, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You mean it will be also on Xbox, so cRPG is misleading, right ? Sir Lothar (talk) 16:54, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's right. Until further announcements arrive at E3, it'd better to keep it that way. Postwar (talk) 17:06, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I see. Thanks for answer. Sir Lothar (talk) 17:21, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Reactor Zero requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the notability of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Salih (talk) 13:57, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you.

Optical disc

Is there a consensus to replace the names of the media such as DVD or CD ROM with the somewhat vague "Optical disc"? Your edit summaries are empty so you don't point to any discussion. Optical disc is too vague in my opinion when we are already describing the exact release media. Why would we want to change it to Optical disc? --Bill (talk|contribs) 20:36, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My edits made are actually based on guidelines. I didn't quite understand it myself, so I asked a few questions regarding this topic here. You can read through all the answers if you want. Postwar (talk) 11:34, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Which guidelines are you following? --Bill (talk|contribs) 21:55, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
These, of course. Postwar (talk) 22:12, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
