Everglades image

Thank you for your addition to the Everglades National Park article. There are some small details I need to fix in the text of the article that need to be confirmed by park personnel, but I hope to nominate it for FAC within a week or so. Because of that, I would like to have a better caption for the photo you uploaded. Did you take the photo? Is it along Florida Bay or the Ten Thousand Islands portion of the park? Do you mind providing a better caption that references part of the article? If not, I'm happy to do it - I just need to know more about the photo. Thank you. --Moni3 (talk) 18:43, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

can you add the caption? It is taken on a flight to Key West - it is (in my opinon) the south-western tip of the Everglades - I blieve it is Cape Sable . Deror (talk) 21:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiworld comics

Hi I notcied that you are doing translations into hebrew of the wikiworld comics. Have you stopped, or taking a break. Im just curious to know which ones you want to do next, which ones you arent going to do, and anyones you want to do on your own. Zobango (talk) 22:57, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The translations are done for the Hebrew Wiki monthly newspaper - i.e. they are done once a month (and I need to do another one by tomorrow for this month edition). The topic which is chosen - is chosen according to an appropriate existing article in Hebrew wiki - unfortunately, the number of articles in he is significantly lower than in en - thus the choice is very limited. the next article will be the Exploding Whale. Why do you ask? Deror (talk) 07:08, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zobango (talkcontribs) 18:43, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:LevitanLogoen.GIF. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 04:08, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling

I believe you have misspelled the links to the Hebrew pages of Ephesians (extra yoods)so that it reads (in translation) Epistle to the Ephesian Twins. Also Epistle does not have a yood. I tried to correct the spelling, but an editor reverted my edits because they would have broken the link. A Georgian (talk) 12:40, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

איגרת כותבים עם "י" אחרת יוצא משהו אחר. אפיסיים דורש שני יודים כי מדובר באנשים רבים. In other words - that is the correct spelling. Deror (talk) 12:45, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response; but with this spelling, would not the meaning be "The Epistle to the Ephesian Twins"? Is this not the consequence of the extra yood? Does it not turn a plural into a pair?. A Georgian (talk) 13:51, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
no, just plural. the "twin" form is not common and not used in modern hebrew - but we checked and apparently in most translations it is only with 1 yud, so we changed accordingly. As to the (Igeret) איגרת, without the י it comes אגרת (Agrat) which is modernly used for taxes or fees. Also a leangthy discussion (here) took place whether an "ה" is required (as in some it is always needed) and decided to add it to all. Deror (talk) 10:17, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The "pair" forms in modern Hebrew with which I am familiar are garbayim, mikhnasayim, pa'amayim, shenayim, oznayim, 'inayim, yadayim, raglayim, and etc. (clothes, pants, twice, teeth, ears, eyes, hands, legs - I haven't figured out how to get my Hebrew keyboard to work in this box). I agree with the use of H, the definite article; otherwise you would have "Epistle to", which, in Hebrew would more likely connote the indefinite article (a or an) than "the". Thanks for the feedback. A Georgian (talk) 13:10, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The "pairs" you said do not relate to persons - for example חיפה (Haifa) חיפאי (belonging to Haifa) חיפאים (people of Haifa) חיפאיים (of Haifa or belonging to Haifa in plural) - and not a pair. Thus of the Epistle is to plural it is one י and if it is belonging to them it would be doublt י (a letter to the people of X will be one י and a letter to people belonging to a city i.e. citizens would be double י) . as to the H - the problem is only with the one which is numbered - האיגרת הראשונה as you can not have איגרת הראשונה. The rest will be with ה for the sake of conformity. Deror (talk) 17:27, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean. A Georgian (talk) 17:40, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

suggestions

Hey, i was thinking maybe when you run out of comics that can be translated, you could make modifications to already existing comics, like what you did with the molasses one. Like modifiying the rutles to the beatles and so on. Thanks User:zobango —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.240.0.213 (talk) 00:11, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it's not that I ran out - i am wating for the monthly or by monthly hebrew wikipedia newsletter - in which they are shown. Deror (talk) 09:14, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

excellent work

I just wanted to comment on what a great job you did with the latest translation. your skills with adobe seem to be improving with everyone that you do Regards Zobango (talk) 20:25, 1 December 2008 (UTC) P.S.: Have you decided the next one yet?[reply]

It's not abode but rather the simplest microsoft drawing program. As to the next one - not yet. Deror (talk) 08:01, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Paint? You manage to do all that complex lettering with paint? Impressive. Im wondering how you are going to do it for W(which you are probably going to do next) and Cursive. Anyway, great job, and thanks for all of your kind responses P.S.: I not telling you what to do, but Fall Out Boy would make a good choice for the next translation i.e. fairly well-known topic, corresponding hebrew article. If you modified the Nocebo effect and focused just on the placebo bit, that would also be nice. Take care: 96.240.0.213 (talk) 22:44, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Th eproblem is that most of them do not have a hebrew equivalent (Fall out Boy and W ar epossible options). Deror (talk) 13:27, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks man. I dont know how you do it with your law career and our travels around the world. Thanks for the kind answers to all of my questions. IF you could just come up with your idea, and tell me what your next cartoon is going to be in the next response, I promise you wont be recieving any more of these for a while Thanks and forgive me for my persistency Zobango —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.240.0.213 (talk) 20:25, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum

Hi Deror avi,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Orphaned non-free image File:PG142.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:PG142.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thank you for uploading File:Pirates of the Carabian PA190094.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Deror avi! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 723 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. David Klein (economist) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Gila Katsav - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Fair use rationale for File:Pirates of the Carabian PA190094.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Pirates of the Carabian PA190094.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. File permission problem with File:Kofi Annan PA210124.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Kofi Annan PA210124.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pieter Kuiper (talk) 11:49, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Mini Habima.JPG

Thank you for uploading File:Mini Habima.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:48, 28 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7.
