This is the page to coordinate the November 17 2011 editing workshop at Harvard.

Perhaps you have your own idea for what you want to edit. Please list yourself under Doing my own thing.

If you do not yet have an idea, then you can help us make headway against the Dreaded Backlog. Look in one of the other sections below to find an article that you might want to improve! Each section is self-explanatory.

Doing my own thing[edit]

Articles needing copy edit[edit]

Some articles have an issue with grammar, style, cohesion, tone, or spelling. Anyone can improve these, without necessarily knowing about the article's subject matter. However, if you are copyediting an article and you stumble across unsupported claims that you think need references, then you can tag them with {{cn}}. If the whole article is without references, then you can tag the article, at the top, with {{unreferenced}}.

The authoritative list of articles that need copyediting is here: Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit. Follow that link and hit "Random page in this category" to get a page to copyedit. Then add your name and what you're working on to the list below:

Articles with "citation needed"[edit]

These articles have the famous "citation needed" tag somewhere in their body. This means that there are a handful of facts that need references! If you're in the mood to go hunting for a particular fact, then this is the section for you. Once you have chosen an article to work on, then you should edit its entry in the below list to sign it with ~~~~.

Articles with no references[edit]

These articles are listed as having no references. My first thought when I see such an article is: is this even true, or is it a hoax? Your job here is to find even a minimal set of references that support the contents of the article. A couple books is all it takes. If you can't find anything .. then we might have a problem! Once you have chosen an article to work on, then you should edit its entry in the below list to sign it with ~~~~.
