The Cape Fear Heroes follow in the spirit of the Fayetteville Guard of the NIFL/AIFA and Fayetteville Force of the SIFL, but are a new franchise, in a newly created league. On November 17, 2011, the Cape Fear Heroes were announced in a press conference at the Crown Center and will begin play in the 2012 season. [2] The Heroes will be the third indoor team in Fayetteville following the Fayetteville Guard (NIFL) and the Fayetteville Force (SIFL/AIFA).
