Your submission at Articles for creation

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/kamehameha:the king who changed everything. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question or get into our live help chat chanel at #wikipedia-en-help connect.

Help request

i need to know how to write a proper wikipedia essay.

Hi there ... what do you mean by a "Wikipedia essay"? An essay about Wikipedia itself, about a particular article, or the subject of an article? Let us know, and I think that will help lead us to the best answer to your question. (I also took the liberty of giving this a subheading, to make it easier for editors to find and respond.) --McDoobAU93 03:25, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

no. i mean like a one that is like most other articles --Ethen12 (talk) 03:41, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I took a look at the posts on your page from Articles for Creation, and I think I see where you're going. I looked at this page, and it appears that you're writing an essay on Kamehameha I of Hawai'i. Definitely someone worth writing about, but as you can see from the link I provided, we already have an article on him. New articles or essays on Wikipedia should be about people, places or things that don't already have articles here. Sometimes that can be tough to do, but sometimes it can also be surprisingly easy ... I've had a number of instances where I looked for something and found out that, sure enough, there wasn't an article on the subject.
Here, I'll give you an example: Henry Cabot Lodge Bohler, a member of the famous Tuskegee Airmen. I ran across his obituary, then looked on Wikipedia and found that there wasn't an article about him. So, I used the obituary, plus some others I found online, and wrote an article on him.
I believe this may start answering your question, but feel free to ask for more details if you still have questions. --McDoobAU93 03:50, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A bit more advice: an encyclopedia article is not really the same sort of thing as an essay. Read
Those will give you a good start. Add another "helpme" if you have more questions. JohnCD (talk) 10:37, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New help request

{{subst:helpme-helped}} i need to know how to use all the tools on here!(i'm new, that's why.)

Hey again ... saw you needed assistance with tools. Which ones are you having trouble with, or want to learn about first? (I'll leave the helpme request open so other editors can comment, as well.) --McDoobAU93 03:22, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You can go to Wikipedia:Tools for a general list of tools and scripts available on Wikipedia. -- Luke (Talk) 03:27, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

the tool that I need to figure out how to use is the line ender.--Ethen12 (talk) 04:32, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds as though you may be asking about wiki markup - the codes you have to write which the software interprets to make the page as it is displayed. Look at the WP:Cheatsheet for a quick guide, and Help:Wiki markup for a fuller reference guide. If you just do a single "newline", that is ignored - it takes two "newline" characters to start a new paragraph, or you can use <br /> - see Help:Wiki markup#Line breaks. You might like to consider working your way through the WP:Tutorial. JohnCD (talk) 09:12, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 22:39, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} adopt me!--ethen bowen 22:51, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

You'll find plenty of adopters taking on new editors in the list sat Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's_Area/Adopters - just pick one, and talk on their talk page.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:47, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Ethen. I see you're looking for an adopter, but this page is for listing editors who are experienced enough to adopt. You have made some good steps, but 100 edits in a couple months is a little on the short side. If you wish to look for an adopter, you are free to ask anyone on that page, especially if they are active in an area you are interested in. Also, if I can offer a friendly note: becoming an admin is an extremely tough process, and people rarely become admins without months of experience and thousands of edits. You probably don't need to worry about that right now. ;) If there's anything else I can help you with, just let me know. Cheer, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 00:34, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Ethen12bot 2". The reason given for Ethen12bot 2's block is:he's an unauthorized bot. tried to make bot, request denied. never deleted account. "

Accept reason: As there are no current blocks against this account, I have lifted the autoblock as part of the bot block on your other account. Note that unauthorised bots are prohibited regardless of the username, and I recommend WP:SOCK as further reading too. WilliamH (talk) 22:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Explain

Hi Ethen. I've removed the unblock template from your account as you are not blocked and it's placing you in administrative categories that you shouldn't be in. WilliamH (talk) 22:29, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've also fixed the coding at the top of the page so it doesn't automatically center everything. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 22:52, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
