This particular page turns out to have mirrored content from the Spanish Wikipedia, and it seems that you created the article as a direct translation of that page. While this is okay, Wikipedia's contents are not public domain either, and you do have to give proper credit to meet the licensing requirement. I've given it in this instance (See my edit summary here and the template here), but in the future please make sure that any pages you translate are attributed. Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia may clarify both how and why. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:49, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that Luis Britto García was also translated. I've fixed attribution for it as well. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:08, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CCI

Hi.

First, I wanted to let you know that given that you had sooooo many bot notices on your page, I figured it might make it as hard for you to use as it was to me. I took the liberty of moving all your early notes to an archive at User talk:Caracas 2000/Archive 1. If this is unwelcome, please accept my apologies. I will fix it back the way it was if you want me to.

Second, I'm afraid I've uncovered a few more copyright issues where content was translated from an external sites: José María Vargas, Vinicio Adames and Tito Salas. I'm so very sorry, but I think you must not have known that under the United States law that governs us, we cannot copy or directly translate content from copyrighted sources to publish on Wikipedia. This is likely to be a violation of copyright law and is for that reason a violation of copyright policy. See Wikipedia:Copy-paste and Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Translations are what are called derivative works under U.S. law, and only the original copyright owner has the right to authorize them. While you can take information from copyrighted sources, you just can't use their words or structure - even if you change from Spanish to English - when placing it here.

Because it seems like a good many articles you've worked on may either need attribution notes to show they were translated from the Spanish Wikipedia or might need to be rewritten if they were translated from other sources, I have had to open a "contributor copyright investigation" (CCI) so that we could look at your articles more systematically. I understand this is likely to be quite a shock. You've worked very hard for a long time, and I'm sure you've intended only to be helpful. You've been very good at identifying your sources, so I think there can be no question that you simply did not realize that this wasn't permitted. I'm sorry that nobody noticed and explained to you much sooner.

I hope you will be willing to help fix some of these issues. It would be especially useful if you could help go through the list to identify the articles that you've copied from Spanish language Wikipedia. If these are fixed the way I described above, we can keep them without any further issues, so long as the Spanish article is not a copy of something else.

The CCI is located at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Caracas 2000. Whether you choose to help identify these articles or not, please keep an eye on that page if you are interested in seeing which articles are evaluated and found to be problems. You've already had a page full of templates. To avoid harassing you, we ask people who volunteer to help out with the CCI not to leave you anymore. But you can see from that list when an article has been evaluated and what has been done with it. If it says it has been blanked - like José María Vargas, Vinicio Adames and Tito Salas do - that means that you have about a week to rewrite them in your own language, or they might be deleted. Sometimes they will instead be reduced to stubs or somebody else might rewrite them.

If you have any questions about this, please let me know. I will be watching your talk page for a time, but you are also welcome to come by mine. Again, I'm very sorry that this situation has arisen. I hate to see contributors who have worked so hard and obviously intended no harm to run up against this issue, but as long as you are careful not to translate from unfree sources and to properly attribute any translations from other Wikipedias in the future, we should be able to get this work done and put it behind us. It may, however, take a while, as there is a backlog in that department and your case, which requires some ability with Spanish, may take a bit longer. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:14, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Caracas 2000, I'm willing to help if needed (I'm sure you didn't intend for there to be a problem, but weren't aware that literal translation would be). The first step would be knowing which came from en.Wiki, so I can look at the others. Saludos, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:16, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Marías, Sambrano Urdaneta and Caldera, 1997.gif

Thank you for uploading File:Marías, Sambrano Urdaneta and Caldera, 1997.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. January (talk) 17:25, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

??? Your text: " The sacral art in the cathedral contains among others The Resurrection by Rubens, the Presentation of the Virgin by Murillo, and the Last Supper, an unfinished work by the Venezuelan painter Arturo Michelena."

Works by european painters Murillo or Rubens in that cathedral in Caracas  ? I can't believe that. Maybe copies but not originals. 92.252.11.252 (talk) 22:22, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
