Proposed deletion of DJ King SamS

The deletion of an article you created, DJ King SamS, has been proposed for the following reason:

lack of reliable sources concerning subject's notability

You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. CanuckMy page89 (talk), 01:12, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.myspace.com/djkingsams/photos/38137943#{22ImageId22:38137943}) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Help me

Will it be acceptable if I link other artist personal websites or blogs which mention the name of DJ King Sams? Will this solve the problem?

What do I to stop deletion?

How do I object to deletion? (Tani12 (talk) 23:24, 13 March 2012 (UTC))[reply]

You've been given lots of links above to look at, many of which cover your situation. The article's biggest problem is that it contains zero reliable sources (Wikipedia doesn't count as a reliable source), and a biographies of living people are required to have solid references. DoriTalkContribs 23:52, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You can join the discussion (the link was provided above). The concern is that this is an unreferenced Biography of a Living Person (BLP); while there is enough material to indicate that this is not a hoax, and it is not an attack page, referencing Wikipedia pages (in any language) is not allowed on English Wikipedia, as Wikipedia is not a Reliable Source. The material from the subject's own website is not Independent. In order to satisfy Wikipedia:Notability guidelines, he would have to have coverage in multiple unrelated sources (not MTV and MTV News, for example). The coverage need not be online, but must be verifiable. If he was covered in a print publication that isn't available online, it can be cited, but will be checked (see Wikipedia:Verifiability); These discussions take a week, sometimes longer. Note that the discussion is not a vote, but about finding sources (or not), and Wikipedia policy, but do not vote more than once (additional comments are fine); votes by multiple new accounts do not affect the outcome. You may request 'Userfication' (placed in your user sandbox) for further work, but it will still be deleted if no improvements are made over a period of time. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page DJ King SamS do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia.

Help me

My article is up for deletion. Please help me resolve the issue. It's a simple BLP, not at all promotive in nature. The perseon was already mentioned in 1 Wikipedia link previously - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangsta_Boo and also in 2 of French Wikipedia pages Don Digga & Naseabel. This is my first article so initially I gave several external links but now corrections are made only 2 external links are given which can be easily verified. I also see many other artist using My Space and Facebook links, but I have removed all here on recommendation. Please do verify my page and give it clearance.(Tani12 (talk))

Response

No; Wikipedia is not a reliable source, and to establish Wikipedia notability, blogs and social media including facebook, myspace, twitter, and youtube don't count, only independent third party publications with a reputation for fact checking: Allmusic, Billboard, Associated Press, the BBC, Reuters, books, magazines, newscasrs, and newspapers, etc. Once notability has been established, then personal details like which high school attended to zodiac sign might be included, unless contested. In the future, make sure you post to someone's talk page; my user page is currently my home page, but some editors may not see their user page for months. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on LivingStory.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Gorlack36 (talk) 23:02, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
