The Pauly D Project is an American reality television series which premiered on MTV on March 29, 2012 in the United States.[1] The series revolves around Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio's transition from being a housemate on Jersey Shore, to becoming a "world-class" disc jockey, along with his friends from his hometown in Rhode Island. The series is the first official Jersey Shore cast spin-off.[2]

Production history

On April 7, 2011, MTV announced it had picked up two Jersey Shore spin-off shows featuring cast members Jennifer Farley, Nicole Polizzi, and Paul DelVecchio, picking up twelve episodes of each show.[3] One show will focus on Polizzi and Farley living together after the conclusion of Jersey Shore. The other show will follow Delvecchio jet-setting around the country for various DJ gigs. SallyAnn Salsano of 495 Productions will be the executive producer of both spin-offs.[3]

The official press release for the series stated that The Pauly D Project will give viewers an insight into the life of DJ Paul DelVecchio away from the Jersey Shore in Seaside Heights, as cameras document his transition from being a "world-famous" housemate on Jersey Shore to a "world-class" DJ with his best friends from his home state of Rhode Island along for the ride. The series will have 12 episodes, which share a similar format to Jersey Shore. The series will predominantly focus on good times, good music, and DelVecchio's pursuit in becoming one of the world's most successful and recognized names in the music industry.[2]

The series premiered on MTV on March 29 at the 10:30pm EST slot, after the rebooted Punk'd series aired, and will air internationally on all MTV channels starting in June 2012.[1]
