Colin Hatch

Hi, I have nominated Colin Hatch to be restored as the AFD result was a clear No Consensus vote. Join the discussion if you want to, Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2011_April_6#Colin_hatch.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:33, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Defense news on Wikinews

I've noticed that there is little, if any, reporting on defense-related news on Wikinews. Is there a systemic reason, as in it's not alloowed, or is there an oversight/no one has bothered reason? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 01:30, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Writing copy isn't my strong suit. Actually, I've been trying to interest User:Hcobb in rinting for Wikinews, per my comments here. Much of his contributions are borderline violations of Not-news, and he's quite prolific at it. (he even has a list of his "favorite" rejected edits on his user page!") He's able to dig sources up from almost anywhere, and I do think he'd be a good candidate for Wikinews. - BilCat (talk) 23:56, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Brad (talk) 09:38, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and thank you for your offer. You may want to have a look at the list of historical monuments of Strasbourg on the french wikipedia. See also the Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest on commons. Regards, Comte0 (talk) 13:09, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Remember, there is no Freedom of panorama in France, monuments younger than 70 years old are still under copyright. However, after having looked at a few notices, I don't think this applies here. Regards, Comte0 (talk) 21:35, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Common.css

What is the point of MediaWiki:Common.css/User:Brian McNeil and MediaWiki:Common.css/User talk:Brian McNeil? As far as I can see, they don't do anything, and per WP:SMI, it's probably good that it doesn't work. Ucucha (talk) 13:44, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you asking me what they do? I have no idea. Perhaps you should ask the user who wrote them and requested they be imported.Edit: After several attempts I can't think of any way of phrasing that that doesn't sound more uncivil than I intend. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:59, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Because you made the edit, and you are responsible for your own edits. In any case, I'll ask the user. Ucucha (talk) 17:04, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed; and I responsibly decided that I trusted the user enough to allow them to take responsibility for the Common.css of their own user and talk pages. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:51, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war at Occupy Marines

I responded to you here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Edit_war_at_Occupy_Marines JohnValeron (talk) 21:02, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As I have already made clear, I do not have the time available to clear this up. That is why I have posted to ANI, instead of clearing it up. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 21:12, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandelism counter question

Why have such a thing? Isn't that a measure of how many people you (or someone that would have such a thing) pissed off? Why is the amount of people angry with you something to be proud of? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.243.2.77 (talk) 04:16, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Silliness, mostly. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 13:21, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview

Dear Blood Red Sandman,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk)23:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
