Nathalia Kaur (born 15 August 1990), also known as Nathalia Pinheiro, is a Brazilian model and actress who works in India.
Early life
Kaur was born as Nathalia Pinheiro Felipe Martins in Rio de Janeiro. Her mother is of Portuguese descent[1] while her father's ethnicity is unclear. Initially he was of Portuguese descent, but in later interviews Kaur stated that she is "half Punjabi"[2] while in her newest interviews she claims that her father is half-Indian with her paternal grandmother being Portuguese and her paternal grandfather being a Punjabi Rajput.[1]
Kaur worked as a model since she was 14 and continued to do so while studying law at Universidade Cândido Mendes before quitting to work as full-time model when receiving an offer in India. She changed her surname from Pinheiro to Kaur as it was more agreeable to Indian media and audiences and could be more easily pronounced.[3]
Career
Kaur modelled in Brazil and other countries until moving to India upon receiving an offer. There she won the Kingfisher Calendar Model Hunt in 2012 and appeared in the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar that year .[4]
Kaur made her film debut in the Kannada film Dev Son of Mudde Gowda directed by Indrajit Lankesh.[5][6] Before its release she was cast by Ram Gopal Varma to perform an item number in his next film Department.[7] Earlier Verma had wanted to cast Sunny Leone, but due to her contractual obligations for Jism 2, Varma replaced her with Kaur.[3]
