:I wrote too quickly. It seems that these Wikipedians identify with the place Virginia, and may or may not be there. Some other states have similar categories but most states do not. I still wonder if this is an appropriate name. "Wikipedians interested in Virginia" and "Wikipedians in Virginia" might be two category names which would cover everything necessary. NEW NOMINATIONS
Category:Keffiyeh
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: delete per creator request.--Mike Selinker (talk) 17:26, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Keffiyeh to Category:Images of clothing
- Nominator's rationale: Contains only one image.-- Mike Selinker (talk) 14:20, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Delete category. I created the category in 2007. It looks like the main article in the category was Keffiyeh. That article looks better categorized now. I suggest deleting this category. The remaining image (File:Sabaa Nissan Militiaman.jpg) is now on the Commons in commons:Category:Keffiyeh, and so it does not need to be categorized here in the same category. So this category is now basically an empty category, and can be deleted. --Timeshifter (talk) 16:37, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- OK, per creator request, I'll just delete this.--Mike Selinker (talk) 17:26, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Category:Virginian Wikipedians
- Propose renaming Category:Virginian Wikipedians to Category:Wikipedians in Virginia
- Nominator's rationale: For all other locations in this region, the format is Category:Wikipedians in X Place. This one should be renamed for parallel structure and to prevent confusion. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:26, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

- There is already a Category:Wikipedians interested in Virginia. Besides, "Virginian" is a noun, at least in American English.64.125.143.140 (talk) 17:31, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Category:Bus drivers by nationality
- Propose deleting Category:Bus drivers by nationality - Template:Lc1
- Propose deleting Category:Israeli bus drivers
- Propose deleting Category:English bus drivers
- Propose deleting Category:Pakistani bus drivers
- Propose deleting Category:Bus drivers by nationality - Template:Lc1
- Nominator's rationale: The articles in these categories are not about people who are notable for being bus drivers. I think the Asher Weisgan article is the one with the closest link between being a bus driver and the reason for notability, but he did not become notable as a bus driver - he only became notable when he was a murderer. "Category:Venezuelan bus drivers" was deleted by this CFD. DexDor (talk) 05:44, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Comment - Usually we are striking categories because they are not "defining" for the people involved. The question of whether we should strike categories because they do not capture the thing for which someone is notable is actually a much broader standard. For instance, Barack Obama is notable as the President; he was previously notable as Senator. Do we eliminate all the other categories because he is not notable for those things? He is not notable for his year of birth. ... We usually categorize people along four separate axes: (1) time period (birth/death); (2) nationality; (3) profession; and (4) cause of notability (which is often but not always profession). These things are considered to be the defining category for that person. If we switch from "defining for that person" to "cause of notability" that's going to really shift the standard. Or is this proposal to just eliminate profession if it's not the notable profession? --Lquilter (talk) 13:08, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- That is the standard, see WP:COP#N; exceptions are made for "people from", "year of birth", and a few others Carlossuarez46 (talk) 16:49, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- delete OK, in the professions department, we have a mass murderer, a footballer, a singer, a mental health activist, and a (heroic) bus driver. OK, the murderer and the activist also worked significant periods as bus drivers too, but I wasn't aware that we categorized murderers by profession. Even if this is kept we can collapse this into a single "bus drivers" category, but even at that two of the five present members don't belong. Mangoe (talk) 15:04, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Delete per nom and fails WP:COP#N. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 16:49, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Cold War aircraft (part 2)
- Propose deleting Category:Helicopters of the Cold War - Template:Lc1
- Propose deleting Category:Reconnaissance aircraft of the Cold War
- Propose deleting Category:Helicopters of the Cold War - Template:Lc1
- Nominator's rationale: These categories are not part of the aircraft categorization scheme (same reason as the previous CFD for Cold War aircraft which these cats escaped by not being in "Category:Military aircraft of the Cold War"). DexDor (talk) 05:29, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Category:Iranian Légion d'honneur recipients
- Propose deleting Category:Iranian Légion d'honneur recipients - Template:Lc1
- Propose deleting Category:Iranian Légion d'honneur recipients - Template:Lc1
- Nominator's rationale: Delete. OC#AWARD. Well at least by country in this case. I think this is for members of Category:Légion d'honneur recipients from Iran. Given the size of the parent, I expect that to be nominated at some point in the future. Vegaswikian1 (talk) 04:59, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Category:Cincinnati Riverhawks (USL A-League) players
- Nominator's rationale: Merge. per WP:OVERCAT. – Michael (talk) 02:05, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Category:Ocean City Barons players
- Propose merging Category:Ocean City Barons players to Category:Ocean City Nor'easters players
- Nominator's rationale: Merge. per WP:OVERCAT. – Michael (talk) 02:00, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers
- Propose renaming Category:Fort Lauderdale Strikers (NASL) players to Category:Fort Lauderdale Strikers (1977–83) players
- Propose renaming Category:Fort Lauderdale Strikers (ASL/APSL) players to Category:Fort Lauderdale Strikers (1988–94) players
- Propose merging Category:Fort Lauderdale Strikers (2011) players to Category:Fort Lauderdale Strikers players
- Nominator's rationale: per Fort Lauderdale Strikers (1977–83), Fort Lauderdale Strikers (1988–94) and Fort Lauderdale Strikers (current) team. – Michael (talk) 01:42, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Montreal Impact coaches
- Propose renaming Category:Montreal Impact coaches to Category:Montreal Impact (1992–2011) coaches
- Propose renaming Category:Montreal Impact (MLS) coaches to Category:Montreal Impact coaches
- Propose redirecting Category:Montreal Impact managers to Category:Montreal Impact coaches
- Nominator's rationale:. per Montreal Impact (1992–2011) (defunct team) and Montreal Impact (current team). I had no idea Category:Montreal Impact managers was created until now, but that category should be redirected. – Michael (talk) 01:15, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
