Complete overhaul towards WP standards

I'm currently working on this article's overhaul. Bare with me while I rewrite, change, remove, add refs, etc. Falkonry (talk) 19:48, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Irish-American Politician?

Alejandro O'Reilly was NOT an Irish-American politician, as a matter of fact he wasn't even American. He was an Irishman who became a Spanish subject and served for the Spanish Crown. Therefore, he was an Irish-Spaniard military officer and politician who never served for the United States. Tony the Marine 16:50, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In Poetry

He is mentioned in Don Juan by Byron, Canto 1, stanza 148:

Is it for this that General Count O'Reilly,
Who took Algiers, declares I used him vilely?[1]

Of course Byron was wrong, because the General didn't take Algiers. Maybe someone could add that to the article. --DelftUser 11:09, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
