Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to Rugby league. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you have a passion for rugby league and wish to make Wikipedia the world's foremost reference on rugby league like the rest of our participants then add your name to the list below.
Please read the section below labelled How to help to find out the easiest ways to get involved with this project.
For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

Manual of Style (MoS)
This and more should be edited into the up & coming WikiProject Rugby manual of style
Certain groups of rugby league pages should have a certain structure. These are:
Naming Conventions
Rugby league shall be written in lower case, such as rugby league, except when starting a sentence, such as in this one.
See the Rugby league discussion page for more information.
Also see wikipedia naming conventions, for naming articles.
Summarise and link
Particularly when writing history of rugby league, be careful not to duplicate information. The standard way to deal with possibly duplicate information is to keep one major source of that information and wherever else it is useful, summarise and link to it, in the following manner.
- Place the link under the heading of the section you are writing and before any text.
- Type refering link in italics, as follows, Main Article: Link to article
- If necessary or relevant, also link to a specific section in the article
You can see an example here.
However, it may be that yours is a complicated subject and for the reader to get the whole picture with as little reading as possible, it is recommended you write light paragraphs that link to the relevant articles in the text. The history section in the rugby league article is the perfect example of this.
Glossary
I find my self starting to use special terms to refer to things on wikipedia. If you do too, add them here so you can use them in discourse. This may facilitate or hamper communication. I guess we'll find out.
WP-item
- This term has be coined as a catch-all phrase for 'things' defineable through wikipedia such as articles, templates, categories, infoboxes etc. Pronounced wikipedia item or wiki item?
