Yol (Turkish for The Road) is the title of a film by Yilmaz Güney and Şerif Gören. Its screenplay was written by Güney, and it was directed by his assistant Gören, as Güney was jailed at the time of shooting. Later, when Güney escaped from prison, he took the negative of the film and edited it in Switzerland.

Template:Spoiler Yol tells the story of several prisoners on leave in Turkey. Seyit Ali (Tarık Akan) finds that his wife (Şerif Sezer) has cheated on him, but when her family insists on an honor killing, he cannot make himself kill her. Mehmet Salih (Halil Ergun) was arrested after trying to pull of a heist with his brother-in-law, whom he abandoned as he was being shot by the police. His in laws want nothing to do with him, and he is forced to finally tell his wife Emine (Meral Orhonsay) the truth. Omar (Necmettin Çobanoğlu) returns to his village to find that it has been caught up in Turkey's civil war, and is in ruins. They all must deal with how their worlds have changed since being behind bars. Template:Endspoilers

It is a harsh portrait of Turkey after a military coup d'état, it's people and it's authorities shown through the stories of five prisoners given a week's home leave.

Yol won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and FIPRESCI Prize in 1982 and was also nominated in 1983 for a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
