Jehanian (Also spelled Jahanian), (Urdu: جہانیاں) is a town in Khanewal District, Punjab, Pakistan.[1] It is 30 minutes drive from Khanewal (28 km) and 45 minutes drive from Multan (42 km). It is the headquarters of Jahanian Tehsil a sub-division of the district name. The town is located at the crossroads of the Khanewal–Lodhran National Highway (N-5A), and the MultanDelhi Grand Trunk Road. It is situated at 416 feet above sea level. Its climate is dry and hot in the daytime, but nights are usually pleasant.

Jahanian is inhabited by many Saraiki speaking Jat Muslim Zamindars. The Gill clan and Randhawa clan are two of the more powerful clans in the tehsil.

Transport

There is a railway station and a public bus stand. People rely mostly on Public Station Van type transport. As Jahanian is situated at the National Highway (N5-A) bypass, people can easily get conveyance all of the time during day and night. From this bypass, passengers can go to Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sadiqabad, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Karachi etc. Even by railway station, passengers can go to the same cities as mentioned in previous lines.

City life

Jahanian is basically an agriculture-oriented area. The old city of Jahanian was planned on a similar pattern to New York City in 1919. It is divided into seven main blocks. Most people are small traders, sole proprietors and business people. Others are employed in private and public sectors. It is also an important trading center of the area, known for its cotton and oilseed mills

It has a municipal committee, THQ hospital, veterinary hospital, NSRC office and a civil court.

The town itself has about one hundred thousand residents. In the sub-division (tehsil) of which it is administrative capital are 180 villages with populations ranging from 500 to 5,000.

Jahanian has a digital telephone exchange containing about 8,500 telephone lines.

The well-known and most central mosques is the "Haqqani" mosque.

The "Abdul Rehman Wahla Stadium" is a well-known stadium, and Govt. High School grounds are also very famous for sports activities. In Jahanian the young persons are very motivated and take part in different games. Jahanian has a main cemetery cross road near general bus stand.Some of the most important personality of Jahanian is late Haji Muhammad Aslam Randhawa EX-MPA of Jahanian who made Jahanian a famous place.Ch Haji Muhammad Aslam Randhawa is a great personality and is a famous person who did many works in Jahanian.Jahanian is also well known of its cotton.Ch Haji Muhammad Aslam Randhawa started to make Jahanian a better place and He is still remembered by the peoples of Jahanain as he was a great personality.He did a great job in progressing his own village.Other famous personality is Muhammad Sadiq Lala e Sehari. He was a Famous poet.

Shrines

Jehanian is famous due to having some shrines, and Makhdoom Rasheed is a famous due to having shrines of the ancestors of Makdoom Javed Hashmi.
