Android M
I have to admit, I'm pleased that Android M's name is neither Muffin nor Milkshake - http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/08/android-ms-official-name-is-marshmallow/ – Steel 18:14, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Steel, same here! :D I would have groaned if a sockpuppeteering vandal had been right all along; I kept thinking, "anything but those two names...". Acalamari 18:17, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Steel, while the name has now been revealed, the pest still isn't going away, as evidenced by this and this. Granted, Marshmallow likely will be on the Nexus 6 but it's yet to be confirmed. Acalamari 23:13, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oh :( I was hoping for at least a few months respite before some random blog mentioned Android Nougat and it all started up again... – Steel 19:12, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm a little pleased that Android Marshmallow's version number is 6.0 not 5.x, per source above (arstechnica.com). 223.255.225.72 (talk) 11:26, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

Implementation of Wikipedia:Bureaucrats#Bureaucrat activity requirements
Following a community discussion ending August 2015, consensus was reached to remove the bureaucrat permissions of users who have not participated in bureaucrat activity for three years.
“ | Bureaucrats are expected to exercise the duties granted by their role while remaining cognizant of relevant community standards concerning their tasks. In addition to the "Inactive bureaucrat accounts" requirements, if a bureaucrat does not participate in bureaucrat activity[1] for over three years, their bureaucrat permissions may be removed. The user must be notified on their talk page and by email one month before the removal, and again and a few days prior to the removal. If the user does not return to bureaucrat activity, another bureaucrat may request the removal of permissions at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Permissions removed for not meeting bureaucrat activity requirements may be re-obtained through a new request for bureaucratship.
|
” |
To assist with the implementation of this requirement, please see Wikipedia:Bureaucrat activity. Modeled after Wikipedia:Inactive administrators and similar to that process, the log page will be created on 1 September 2015. Bureaucrats who have not met the activity requirements as of that date will be notified by email (where possible) and on their talk page to advise of the pending removal.
If the notified user does not return to bureaucrat activity and the permissions are removed, they will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFB. Removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon the affected user in any way.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. –xenotalk

Re: Hello!
Thanks! I'm not sure how I got dragged in again - I guess I just love writing about and researching pop music!
Hope you're well too? Extraordinary Machine (talk) 11:48, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Rooting (Android OS) article
Hello! Could you, please, have a look at the edit history of Rooting (Android OS) article and semi-protect it? The article recently experienced rather persistent vandalism by a few IP addresses, and reverting all those unproductive edits is quite tiresome while it also clogs up the article history. Any help would be appreciated! — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 15:23, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Dsimic, done! If the vandalism returns this time next year, when the protection expires, please do let me know again. :) Acalamari 15:52, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
- That's a rather generous expiration date. :) Thank you! — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 16:28, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
Here's another one: could you, please, have a look at the recent edit history of Network switch article? Somebody persistently tries to add an external link that's nothing more than an advertisement. Thus, IMHO, a one-week semi-protection might be appropriate. Any help would be appreciated! — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 12:53, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- I haven't semi-protected the page (yet) but I have blocked both IPs; however, if the spamming returns, please do let me know. :) Acalamari 16:20, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- That works, thank you! Will let you know. — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 16:53, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Help us improve wikimeets by filling in the UK Wikimeet survey!
Hello! I'm running a survey to identify the best way to notify Wikimedians about upcoming UK wikimeets (informal, in-person social meetings of Wikimedians), and to see if we can improve UK wikimeets to make them accessible and attractive to more editors and readers. All questions are optional, and it will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please fill it in at:

Chilean IP date-changing vandal
190.215.205.94 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) has been changing release dates to several albums and songs despite sources saying otherwise and was wondering if you could anything about it. Thanks. Erick (talk) 20:49, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- I thought this was the "release date troll" again but this appears to be someone else. I've given them a level 3 warning but if their behavior consists, please immediately let me know and next time I will block them. Acalamari 21:27, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- This IP shows two sessions of disruption, first on cars, then on songs. It totally looks to me like Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Date-changing vandal from Santiago. Binksternet (talk) 22:39, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Binksternet, thanks for that; I was not aware of this particular vandal and I also see from the log that this IP has been blocked before. Erick, the IP has now been blocked for a month. Thank you to you both. :) Acalamari 22:52, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
