Comments

Eight games associated with this trophy are notable, and seven of them took place in the last ten years? Looks like rampant recentism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.64.215.238 (talk) 19:13, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: move. -- tariqabjotu 05:28, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Bunyan TrophyMichigan–Michigan State football rivalry – The rivalry began 65 years before the Paul Bunyan Trophy was created. Also, all 45 meetings before 1953 were added just recently. --Relisted. -- tariqabjotu 03:47, 20 July 2013 (UTC) 184.96.22.80 (talk) 01:41, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The rivalry is focused on the trophy, and is far more likely to be known by this name. Using this name makes for a far better encyclopedia. Perhaps we need an update to WP:AT to cover this principle rather than just appealing to WP:IAR, but I think this particular move fails on the other grounds anyway. Andrewa (talk) 09:59, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support in line with recent outcomes regarding college football rivalries. The proposed title is more recognizable and natural. For those of us outside the Upper Midwest, we picture every other man there as Paul Bunyan, so his namesake trophy doesn't scream out Minnesota–Minnesota State. Err, Michigan. Whatever. --BDD (talk) 16:40, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Per BDD, the proposed title is more recognizable and natural, and it is more in line with how the subject is discussed in the sources. For example, this book on the rivalry only discusses the trophy on four pages. This book contains some good material on the rivalry, but does not mention the trophy. Moving away from trophy names and the silly rivalry nicknames has been the trend recent in articles on college sports rivalries.--Cúchullain t/c 19:59, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Informal "you"

In the article, it says "If you include..." in the "Series History" section. I propose to make this more formal by altering it to remove the use of the second person.

On October 18, 2012, this article finished with a consensus in an AFD to Merge with Michigan-Michigan State Rivalry. If Michigan State were to go on and win the Consensus College Football (FBS) Playoff Championship in 2016, this topic would more than likely be revisited (as the game itself would have had further implications at that point). IF, however, Michigan State loses to Ohio State and the Buckeyes were to win out the 2015 season advancing to the Big Ten Championship, then I will leave the article on it's current user page where it will remain indefinitely for future need/reference.
