This is the current revision of this page, as edited by Theroadislong (talk | contribs) at 22:47, 2 January 2016 (they were legal consultants for the Russian Egyptian Business Council actually but how this makes them notable I can't fathom?). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this version.

Sorry

Sorry. My intention was not to undo but to correct and use other references in some cases. I'm trying to rethink things as I go along. As some references included photos only and not name, I therefore aimed to find a better one. I'll try to identify your example. Thank you.

Sula Vineyards Wiki Page

Hi,

I see that you added the advert box on the sula vineyards wiki page. I am currently working on this page for a school project, and was wondering where exactly it did not sound neutral or too promotional?

It is possible for you to edit those parts out or show them to me so I could make the needed changes?

Thanks!

Further improvements

Hello Theroadislong... I'd like to work with you to improve SOCO International's Wiki page, get the facts out there and legitimize the page/remove the tags. I will not directly edit the page again since I am a COI editor and do have a 'close connection' with the subject. Nevertheless, I would like to help present the facts about SOCO's activities while adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines. In order to remove the promotional content I suggest removing the following three sentences, but please let me know what needs to happen to further improve the page and I would be happy to assist: -- "In 2016 it was reported that SOCO had indicated that with low cost production, no debt and its disciplined approach to capital allocation, the company was in a good position to weather a prolonged industry downturn." --"Looking ahead, the company said it plans to produce 10,000 to 11,500 barrels of oil equivalent a day in 2016 This doesn't included potentially higher output scenarios from its TGT field in Vietnam." --"The start of production was achieved more than a month ahead of schedule, SOCO said, and the H5 wellhead platform development was completed with zero lost time accidents." I look forward to hearing from you, SOCOrep — Preceding unsigned comment added by SOCOrep (talkcontribs) SOCOrep (talkcontribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

From Jeffrey Robinson

(I can't figure out how to get this in a new section. Sorry)

===========

Hi there, I'm concerned with certain edits you've made and questions of citations for my listing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Robinson By completely removing this paragraph: "When his military obligation was completed at the end of 1970, he moved to a small village in the south of France. Using that as his base, he vagabonded around the world, writing articles and short stories for leading North American and British periodicals." ...

... you are obliterating a very important 12 years of my career. The next graph makes no sense, nor does the subsequent mention of moving to London, unless it's mentioned that I spent those 12 years running around the world covering stories for various publications, but especially the International Herald Tribune in Paris, and managing to pull off the extremely difficult trick of becoming a very successful (and regarded) freelance writer. I'm not suggesting that the listing make sensational claims, but those years in France were absolutely essential to the rest of my career.

Also... you ask for certain citations, many of which I can supply and will happily do so. But some of them are difficult to manage without referencing newspaper articles that are not available on line. I'm happy to send you those references, and even make photocopies if you want to see them. But many of these were a long time before the Internet and are, for the most part, now long forgotten.

Others were once on line and have since been eliminated, for whatever reason. There was, for example, a long biographical sketch of me published in Temple University's alumni magazine which had been on line but is no longer. Again, I have those references, which will look like a periodical references in a term paper, and can even send copies, if that will suffice.

On the other hand, references to my IHT experience are, for example, found here: http://www.cjr.org/feature/the_back_page.php

As you can see, the CJR fact checks everything.

Please know that I'm more than happy, and even anxious, to work with you to clean up the listing, that is if you're willing and kind enough to do that with me.

In advance, thank you/ JR SJR524 (talk) 10:53, 7 October 2016 (UTC)SJR524 (talk) 11:01, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The content I removed was unreferenced, unless there are references in reliable sources Wikipedia is not interested in what you have done. The sources do not have to be online but they do need to have been published. Theroadislong (talk) 11:50, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Theroadislong, I understand your point about published references, but my point has to do (equally) with accuracy. This isn’t a question about what I’ve done, it’s a question of eliminating a vital 12 years of the story. So, let’s take that particular paragraph. What is it, exactly, that you want me to reference? That I worked out of the south of France for 12 years, used that as my base and wrote from around the world?

How's this: http://www.cjr.org/feature/the_back_page.php

Or this verified listing On Muckrack: http://muckrack.com/JeffreyRobinson/bio

Then there is a question about the British Bankers’ Association quote. It is a direct quote taken from the brochure of the BBA’s Annual Financial Crime Conference, held on 8 December 2003, at the Congress Centre, London. I was the keynote speaker. The original link showed the quote clearly. Unfortunately, that link is no longer available on their site, or through Wayback Machine.

However, here is the quote referenced several times by reliable sources:

Reads like a thriller, but it's true.”

It is considered as the definitive book on the subject and is used as a text in universities and law schools."

I appreciate your concerns and will gladly supply any and all other citations you need. While I don’t mean to make any additional work for you, I do hope this goes some way to restoring your faith. Kind regards/ JR SJR524 (talk) 12:50, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Theroadislong, Again, I don't mean to make extra work for you, but not having heard from you in answer to the above, I thought I'd try again. May I reinstate the paragraph that you removed, adding the published references to support it? I will also gladly add the BBA references. Thank you/ JRSJR524 (talk) 20:01, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I replied on the article talk page. Theroadislong (talk) 20:12, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, I'm sorry, I don't know where one is supposed to post these, on your talk page or the article's talk page. Nevertheless, I responded to yours just now on the article's talk page, simply asking, if those two references aren't valid, what about all the others? Thank you/ JRSJR524 (talk) 10:53, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Theroadislong, I don't mean to make this a contentious issue, or take up your time, but I'm concerned with the paragraph you removed for not having a reference. May I reinstate it with the correct citations, as above. I will also add citations for the BBA quote and the move to London. Thank you.SJR524 (talk) 00:42, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't read all your wall of text above, it's normal to make suggestions on the article's talk page. If you want to add back content with suitable references I'll look at it again. Theroadislong (talk)

Thank you. I appreciate it.SJR524 (talk) 08:59, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

After reading your comments and reading the user pages, I am struggling a bit to find what the issues are with the content. I am writing from and linking to educational resources from an academic special collection. According to the getting started page for GLAM "Select the most significant items in your institution's collection and see if there are Wikipedia articles on them or on a related topic. If there are, expand the article and include a reference to your catalogue. If you have primary source material available online, a link to it can be included under the External links section. If no suitable article exists, create one." This is what I have done in relation to Paul Clark and the links I added to other designers. Please can you be more specific as to what the problem is? Would you prefer I add text in the article that refers to the resource and link to that?

Thank you Design Archivist (talk) 11:07, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not encourage large lists of external links, much better to add content cited to the sources. Theroadislong (talk) 11:12, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Longer dash

Hi! In generally bottom every edit window there are some special characters. The row started button"Insert" or you can find any special character in Special characters in Head menu, above the edit window. Csurla (talk) 21:33, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks that's very helpful! Theroadislong (talk) 21:40, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reasonable Faith (book)

Regarding the section you deleted because it was unsourced: The entire article is unsourced. How is that section less sourced than the rest of it? Might as well leave it in. Morfusmax (talk) 20:13, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Or delete the whole article? Wikipedia relies on reliable sources and if content is promotional then it certainly needs sources. Theroadislong (talk) 22:29, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
