Request on 13:58:33, 21 April 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Gimmeldal
Gimmeldal (talk) 13:58, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear Wikipedia-editor,
I wish to return to the previously deleted / declined article with the attempt to finally get it published and hence, I would like to mention that I have used a dozen linked "published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject" including the Artist´s Wikipedia article (German) and the Website of the artist. It is not my purpose to publish a too long article, but the German Wikipedia-article is not as updated as mine. I also don´t wish to mess around in other´s good articles or simply translate them. I still don´t understand the Theroadislong´s point about notability. Of course you can be a star in Germany and less known in Corea or US, but here I deal with an internationally renowed artist. What I couldn´t afford so far was that EACH of my references gets a link (7 different languages, 7 or so countries on 4 continents), which is as far as I can see not the standard in the most of Wikipedia articles. As I understand it as a cumulative and (self-) repairing tool of knowledge, I don´t see the point - or better - pure pressumption, that my article "could have" violating copyright. It does not for sure. I suppose that not the Vellela´s pressumption, but the knowledge must prevail in such a (p-)reviewing process; so again: the accusations of "cut & paste" do not apply.
Alternatively - if my article appears too long - I could offer an updated version of the German-Wikipedia-article, but as I said, I find it rather "stealing" of the intellectual property (although it may not be a rigid copyright-violation), since I don´t have knowledge about the German version´s author, and also cannot involve in academic discussions about notability etc. I highly appreciate Wikipedia´s efforts and ethics in gatekeeping-policies (in sense of quality), but I would be even more grateful for a hint from an administrator how not to waste my time while trying to contribute to the body of Wikipedia-articles. Thank you very much in advance for your solution-oriented feedback that would keep us away from deepening the discussion about policies and the interpretations thereof. Gimmeldal
- Gimmeldal Your draft Draft:Sabine Kacunko has one reliable independent source to The Guardian newspaper and one primary source to an exhibition catalogue, clearly not enough to establish notability. Theroadislong (talk) 15:06, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello again,
It would be appreciated if you could give me a hint about how many independent sources must be involved to fulfill the criteria - in this case, or in general. Thank you.

Editor Noah had sent me a list of our citations and said we needed 3 citations that were substantial (not passing mentions), weren’t primary and were in established news outlets, and Noah said that we already had 2 good ones. I thought the four we just added would cover it. Is it possible to tell me what is wrong with the four we just added? Or maybe you disagree with Noah on the two he liked?
Those two “good” ones were:

Mandayam Annandampillai Sampathkumaran
Hi Theroadislong, You have commented this biography is not of notable person. Sampathkumaran was an academic. And Wikipedia has following on academics; Academics Main page: Wikipedia:Notability (academics) Many scientists, researchers, philosophers and other scholars (collectively referred to as "academics" for convenience) are notably influential in the world of ideas without their biographies being the subject of secondary sources.
I have still provided numerous secondary sources including University of Chicago, Bangalore University, Mysore University, and others. Why are you still asking for secondary sources?
- Draft:Mandayam Anandampillai Sampathkumaran Every topic on Wikipedia must have sources that comply with Wikipedia:Verifiability.
This source doesn’t mention him [1] and this one is a passing mention [2] sources need to be in-depth with significant coverage. Theroadislong (talk) 13:45, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Appealing the Results
if it's contrary to Wikipedia's purpose why other agencies like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WPP_plc have Wikipedia articles?!

- OK Contentcreatorhub I see your draft User:Contentcreatorhub/sandbox here contains totally inappropriate content such as "The USP of ValisoyMedia lies in its excellent model of project management that helps us to deliver the most complicated, advanced web and mobile app solutions. Client satisfaction is our prime concern and to achieve this we use the latest generation technology, smart managing skills to ensure on-time delivery." it has zero sources let alone in-depth and independent ones, it is written as an advert and so zero chance of being accepted I'm afraid. Mandayam Annandampillai Sampathkumaran
Thank you for your guidance. I have been able to source a number of references and have cited them. As the subject Dr. M.A. Sampathkumaran was around over 100 years ago, rare to find website or publication links, which you may usually see in the recent biographies. Thanks to Univ of Chicago, Univ of Bangalore, Univ of Mysore and a few newspaper articles we are able to source a few references relating to the subject. Please note the context while reviewing the submission.--Ramski2021 (talk) 02:01, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Good day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Spoon_Murder_2 This page is not fake, there is a link to watch the movie on IMDB. I can only provide you with Russian-language links to this film. What's the problem with publishing this article? I can also provide information about the director of this film (he is also an actor), he is a fairly well-known personality in Belarus as a theatrical figure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onlyyou1 (talk • contribs) 22:13, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
M A Sampathkumaran
Hi Theroadislong, I have provided all publicly available references in the article. Note that Dr M A Sampathkumaran belonged to a period that is 100 years ago (hence centenary celebration in 2019 at Bangalore University) of his department. So public references were not a common place in those days unlike now.
Can you please review the latest document and approve it.
I am bringing to your attention a few Wikipedia articles that have way below content, references and material, which have been approved and live. Many of them are not of the same calibre or noteworthy as my subject. There are numerous such biographies on wikipedia today.

- Your draft Draft:DigiSkills.pk reads just like an advertisement, eg. "DigiSkills is providing free online training session for all available programs and you can access it from anywhere, like from your home or office, all you need is a computer or an android phone with internet connectivity." and "aimed at equipping our youth, freelancers, students, housewives, professionals, etc. with knowledge, skills, tools & techniques necessary to seize the opportunities available internationally in online marketplaces as well as locally to earn a decent living" articles on Wikipedia are written in a dry neutral tone. Do you have a conflict of interest I wonder? Theroadislong (talk) 18:44, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
JDBY-YTT
Good Morning,
We are trying to create a wikipedia page about our school JDBY-YTT, and it was rejected by you. I'm curious if you could please explain why you rejected it, as we see many many Chicago public schools, Catholic private schools, and Jewish schools have their own pages, like these:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Jewish_day_schools_in_Chicago

Manic Kat Records
Hi, I’ve noticed you’ve commented on my manic Kat records draft. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do so. I was just wondering how to resolve the issues? I have various third party sources that reference the label, and I’ve seen wikis for other independent labels with less outside sources. I’m basically just wondering what needs to be added. Afar13 (talk) 15:49, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Manic Kat Records is a primary source so of no use, Facebook and Spotify are not reliable sources and interviews are not independent, which leaves very little else to support any notability. Please also see other poor quality articles exist. Theroadislong (talk) 16:13, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

- You don't need to "prove" anything? Articles rely on reporting what reliable sources say about a topic, newspaper or magazine articles about him for example, they do not need to be online either. Theroadislong (talk) 15:47, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello,
this was the first article that I created on Wiki,

Hi Theroadislong, thank you for the quick reply! i understand about the blog not being reliable, what about the other references/External links i've provided are they good enough for the page to be created?
- I'm guessing that you are referring to Draft:David Alaverdian, sources need to cover the topic in-depth with significant coverage, one of your sources is a basic profile, the other some sort of score sheet, so they don't really count towards showing any notability. - Margaux at ICPstudios A Wikipedia article summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable business. We have no interest in who has recorded there unless independent sources have commented on this in -depth, nothing from your own website confers any notability, likewise Discogs is not a reliable source. John Hastry’s vision to “create a place where artists can live 24/7 without any logistical or external intrusions, a bubble where only music matters” is just promotional marketing and has no place in a `wikipedia article. You also need to make the mandatory paid editing disclosure before editing further. Theroadislong (talk) 16:03, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

My question is if there's anything more you'd want me to edit or fix? Because the last 3 times I have received a decline was because informal language and not enough coverage. I have continued to edit and fix that now the last 2 times.
However now, it seems there's more that needs to be done. How come has all my reviews not commented on that?
Again, thank very much for taking the time to review and comment. I would greatly appreciate more feedback.

- There are often multiple reasons for declining, your draft has rather a lot of unsourced content and as it is WP:BLP it requires better sourcing to ensure it's survival at any deletion review. Theroadislong (talk) 21:25, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello,
I could not add most content because it's private. So what would you recommend to do? Delete the content if I unable to publish the source ? Please do tell me what would you recommend so I can improve it. Njinfo10109 (talk) 17:56, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
You have accepted the drafts of family members wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadya_A.R.
The person has been granted a Royak Charter and is the youngest appointee ICSID. That should be counted as a notable person.

Regarding Draft:AOZ_Studio
I thought that adding independent references such as the French Ministry of Education would improve the notability of the article.
Also, the language I'm using seems similar to that used describing other computer languages such as JavaScript, Visual BASIC, etc. I am *trying* to make it objective, as a reporter would. What am I doing to make it sound "more promotional"? Ising4jesus (talk) 16:41, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- "AOZ Studio believes that knowledge of computer language is now essential, so their goal is to make it simple and accessible, so anyone can learn computer programming. To facilitate this goal, The AOZ Studio language is offered free of charge to schools, educational associations, and non profit organizations. It is provided Open Source, so anyone with sufficient knowledge can help refine and improve the language." is entirely promotional and Wikipedia does NOT want content that sounds like a "reporter" wrote it, we write in a dry neutral tone here. Theroadislong (talk) 16:51, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification, Theroadislong. I'm sorry about my misunderstanding on the proper tone for an article. I've modified that section to make it more "dry" and "neutral". Please let me know if this is acceptable.
I do believe it is important to state that the language is free to schools, educational associations, and non-profit organizations. Would it be more proper to state that in the newly created Licensing section (currently just below Education)? Ising4jesus (talk) 20:13, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
- It is clear that you are just here to promote the topic, there are zero reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 20:39, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks again for your comments.
I think that I have at least 1 good reference, with the French Ministry of Education. (Versailles Academy, Reference #1.) If this is not acceptable, please tell me why. In the mean time, I'll see if I can find any more reliable sources.
Should I remove any references which are considered to be unreliable (such as interviews)?
I thought that the statement regarding AOZ being free to schools and non-profits was a neutral statement, but if it needs to go, I'll remove it. (in the Licensing section)
What else can I do to make the article more acceptable? Ising4jesus (talk) 18:11, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

- My comment said "This draft was rejected" it was rejected by User:VersaceSpace on 28th March because the topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Hello! You rejected the page I made for songwriter/producer Luke Niccoli. I feel there are good references and mentions of his name in important places- what else can I do?
Thanks so much!
- Correction your draft Draft:Luke Niccoli was declined not rejected there is a big difference, the draft as it stands does not have sources which cover him in depth with significant coverage, they merely list him or are passing mentions. notability cannot be inherited via notable people he has worked with. Hi, you seem to have rejected the article relating to the above again. Appreciate if you could take your time and review our effort closely without rejecting them inside 5 minutes.

Re Debra J Fisher Draft
Apologies. If I remove the IMDd reference from the the draft (I'm talking about the one that was submitted on April 21 which is significantly different than the one that was deleted in December), will that suffice? I'm not an experienced editor and don't know what I can do to make sure the draft gets approved.
- You need to demonstrate that the subject meets the relevant notability guideline, which requires subjects to have received significant coverage from multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Significant coverage = in-depth writing about the subject, not passing mentions. Reliable sources = mainstream news sites, mainstream magazines, books from mainstream publishers, etc. Theroadislong (talk) 21:25, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

In reference to your comment on "Intelligence Node Draft"
Hi,
This is with respect to Intelligence Node draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Intelligence_Node being declined by you yesterday. You have asked to mention why this company is notable. I would like to bring to your attention that we have followed all notability guidelines issued by wikipedia. The information mentioned can be verified from reliable sources such as The Economic Times ( which as per wikipedia itself, "As of 2012, it is the world's second-most widely read English-language business newspaper, after The Wall Street Journal") & TechCrunch ( according to wikipedia "TechCrunch is an American online newspaper focusing on high tech and startup companies.") and have several other reliable sources. We believe we have followed all notability rules of wikipedia. I would request you to review it again and share your feedback TullikaInode1 (talk) 18:56, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- TullikaInode1 Sorry too late it has just been declined again with the comment "Highly promotional and, judging from the text, probably written by the company's own marketing department". Theroadislong (talk) 19:11, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Okay thanks for your comment. I will edit it based on your feedback and resubmit. Thanks again.

Your comment : Routine funding announcements/press releases confer zero notability.
Your comment : Thanks again for your feedback. I have modified it . We have also added our product launch news as a reference which was published on WWD by their executive editor. TullikaInode1 (talk) 10:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that your "product launch news" is of zero interest. Notability is judged by looking at the depth of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources, we have no interest in what the company says about itself Theroadislong (talk) 10:27, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Research Complex at Harwell
Hi,
I am the Communications and Engagement Officer at the Research Complex at Harwell and we work with the Rosalind Franklin Institute and Diamond Light Source, amongst other facilities on this same campus, and they have their own Wikipedia pages and I am wondering why ours has been rejected.
What independent sources do you require? If you need confirmation from the Rosalind Franklin we do exist, I would be happy to provide this.
Best wishes,
Alison
- I don't doubt you exist! Wikipedia is not for merely providing information. A Wikipedia article about an organisation must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about them, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organisation. Wikipedia has no interest in what you want to say about them, only in what others unaffiliated with them choose to say about them. Please also note that undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI. Theroadislong (talk) 14:12, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
I checked the Rosalind Franklin's wikipedia page and all the references included a news article. I have highlighted amongst them a BBC article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10568048 as a £26 million science organization. All our collaborators have a wikipedia page. We have been asked to have one as well. I have placed in the paid template as requested and am disclosing that I am an employee of the UKRI. I have been working on this for most of the day and I am just very confused. I have also included links to our published papers for you. We have been established since 2010. Any advice is please welcome. Our work has successfully led to COVID treatment and accelerated research that could be done in three months to two weeks. I respectfully ask that you please reconsider.
- You can ask for other opinions here Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk I am getting supper prepared. Please note that you have not complied with the mandatory paid editing disclosure which needs to be on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 15:06, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

- Wikipedia doesn't use external links in the body of an article, Wikipedia merely reports on what reliable sources say about a subject, not what his own website says. Theroadislong (talk) 18:02, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

The page was posted up ahead of a AfLIA 1Lib1Ref African Librarians Week 2021 starting 17th-24th May. The goal was to work with other librarians across Africa to align the article to meet Wiki standards. I am also learning how to post and there are a number of primary sources like the ZLA reports, research papers , newspapers and we once had a report done by the National TV broadcaster on the associations. The challenge I shared with librarians was on the lack of digitized copies of conference reports and magazines. The association is an affiliate to AfLIA and IFLA.

Okay, thanks! I've replaced the link to the award ceremony on YouTube (by the official YAM channel) with a link to the official Dutch National Opera website. About my wikipedia entry on Alikunju Shastri
Hi,
I saw that you had declined my article on Alikunju Shastri. He is an important Indian freedom fighter, social reformer and political leader from the state of Kerala, India. I had provided citations from the Kerala Legislative Assembly's official website and also from other wikipedia sources where his name is clearly mentioned.
Can you please check those sources and guide me on how to improve the article?
- They are primary sources so don't contribute to any notability. As I said before Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference. We summarise what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable person. Blue Hill Publications- Re-consider Request
Sir/Madam,
Blue Hill Publications is an Indian registered company and currently ranks among the top 10 by several websites. A quick search on google about 'best self-publishing company in india' provides these two links:
https://sharingstories.in/blogs/top-10-self-publishing-companies-in-india/ https://www.himalayanwritingretreat.com/self-publishing-companies-in-india/
And as you can see, its ranked well enough. Similar companies such as Notion Press have wikipedia company. There should be no basis for inclusion of an Indian self-publishing company and non-inclusion of an Indian selt-publishing company. As both belong to same category, Blue Hill Publications page should be there.
I kindly request you to re-consider your decision after knowing all these facts and allow my submission.
