WikiProject Good Articles: Open Tasks
This project identifies, organizes and improves good articles on Wikipedia.

Welcome to the WikiProject Good articles. This wikiproject is designed to maintain the Good articles list, review the nomination entries and assist in the process of improving articles to good and featured article status.

Scope

Wikipedia:Good articles (shortcut WP:GA) is a list of articles which are well written, broad, referenced, neutral and accurate, beyond those which have been rigorously reviewed and identified as the very best of Wikipedia by the featured article process. As the list should eventually contain many thousands of articles, this project has been formed to assist in the maintenance of the page. Tasks which members of this project may wish to assist with include:

  1. Keeping the list at WP:GA in sync with Category:Wikipedia good articles
  2. Updating the numbers in the table on WP:GA
  3. Sweeping through listed entries to ensure they meet the criteria for listing
  4. Reviewing entries on and adding them to the list if they meet the criteria
  5. Encouraging Wikiprojects to review articles for accuracy where expert input is desirable
  6. Identifying good content and adding it to the list
  7. Maintain and update the Good Article Collaboration of the week
  8. Promote the Good articles list

  36. User:Hildanknight There are three ways I will help the WikiProject. Firstly, I will spot and nominate articles which deserve Good Article status but have not been nominated yet. Secondly, I will spot articles which are close to Good Article standards, and Peer Review them, and collaborate with other editors to improve them to Good Article standards so I can nominate them for Good Article. I sent Yahoo! and Neopets to Peer Review to collaborate with other editors to make them Good Articles, but have not received much helpful response. Lastly, I will participate in discussions about Good Articles and suggest ways of promoting awareness of Good Articles, and improving the Good Articles process. --J.L.W.S. Add {{User:Some P. Erson/User GA}} to your userpage to add this userbox -

Add {{WikiProjectGATasks}} to your userpage to add the open tasks box.

Structure

A good article will share many characteristics with featured articles, and like featured content it must:

  • be well written
  • be factually accurate
  • use a neutral point of view
  • be stable (that is, not subject to any ongoing edit wars)
  • be referenced, and
  • wherever possible, contain images to illustrate it. The images should all be appropriately tagged.

Good articles may not be as thorough and detailed as our featured articles, but should not omit any major facets of the topic.

Adopt an article

Similar to the GA Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking and the bringing of an article to FA status. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while and improve the quality of Good Articles.

Templates

Templates used on WP:GA are the following:

  1. {{GA}} - added to the talk page of listed articles; automatically places them in Category:Wikipedia good articles
  2. {{DelistedGA}} - added to the talk page of delisted articles. An explanation of why an article has been delisted should always be left as well.
  3. {{DelistedGAbecause}} - a more subtle version of {{DelistedGA}}, with the syntax {{delistedGAbecause|reason}}
  4. {{failedGA}} - for articles that fail the self nomination

There is also an open tasks template for this project: {{WikiProjectGATasks}}
