Jeff Buckley

Is the following "trivia" item really necessary in this article?

I don't see what this really adds to to an article about Matt Dillon (or about Jeff Buckley, for that matter). -- MisterHand 14:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Missing text in Early life?

It says "His next role was in the 1982 film...". Next role? It doesn't say what roles he had before that. SethTisue 00:42, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Dillon80.jpg

Image:Dillon80.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

So that's his real name?

I always figured that Matt Dillon was a stage name picked by an agent, given that it's the same as the name of the fictional sheriff of Dodge City played by James Arness and tended to slightly discount the guy as a result. After seeing Factotum, however, I was completely blown away. This guy has the potential to be another Bogart.Tom Cod (talk) 23:47, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little doubtful Matt Dillon actually provided the voice narration in a novel. Needs to be fixed. "Dillon also contributed his voice as Sal Paradise in Jack Kerouac's famous novel On the Road." 58.161.113.30 (talk) 10:09, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

changed word in header paragraph

Change 'adult actor' to 'mature actor' as the former makes him sound like a porn star. Randomalias (talk) 06:19, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who's this guy??

It is startling to enter "Matt Dillon" in the search box and find and article about some guy who's not the protagonist of Gunsmoke. I'd have guessed either that or a redirect to the article about that show. Are some people actually more inclined to think of this guy rather than of the Marshall when they hear this name? Michael Hardy (talk) 16:30, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gunsmoke? What's that; something people knew about in the early Bronze Age?
IOW: Yeah, I'm fairly sure it's this guy people think of in the 21st century. HTH!--CRConrad (talk) 22:17, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Gunsmoke is something that is known to people from this planet. I doubt this guy will ever be as well known as the Gunsmoke protagonist. Michael Hardy (talk) 01:01, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I realize your original question may have been at least somewhat facetious -- like I was in pretending not to even know what Gunsmoke was -- but still, just in case you weren't wholly so (i.e, if you were anywhere near seriously suggesting that the name should link to anything but this page): Sorry, but then you must be writing from the planet Early Sixties Culture. Most people in today's world aren't all that familiar with that. Deal.--CRConrad (talk) 13:09, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Repetition of role in music video.

Twice in this article does it mention of Dillon's role in the music video for Fairytale of New York. I suggest one be omitted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.124.116 (talk) 10:37, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Damon

No offense but why would anyone confuse the two and why would anyone need Damon's name at the top of the page? I could understand if Damon's name was Dilon or Dillion, but Damon sounds or spells nothing like Dillon. It just seems like an unnecessary distraction to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.134.71.19 (talk) 23:51, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've been confusing them, so I think the note is warranted. Vidarfe (talk) 14:05, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Factotum is from 2005

In the article it reads, resuming from talk about 2002 events, "that same year M.D. starred in Factotum", whereas I could only find info about the year of production stated as 2005. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.178.168.169 (talk) 17:18, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
