Metal Slug

It looks like you need to make more research about Metal Slug, since you made a few mistakes. A good site to look at is Mslugdb.com. --E-Magination 14:20, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New jersey images

Is there a category for new jersey-based images? I've been uploading images of state parks when i can, and would liek to organize them better. --larsinio (poke)(prod) 19:38, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a text guy, but I do upload some images, and we could use some more organization for these pics so that they can be used wherever possible. I will research this further for you, but you caould also check to see if there are any other WP:NJ participants who would be better able to address your issue. Alansohn 20:03, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FAHD

Since you were listed as a Participant in the WP:FAHD, I thought I ought to send you a message announcing that I'm reviving and changing FAHD for the better, and if you are interested, please respond. - A Link to the Past (talk) 02:08, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism?

If you did a little more research you would see that this information is not on any gamefaq, and the website it came from originally (a collector's fan site) is now shut down forever, so be careful who you accuse of Plagiarism. Credit was given to the original authors on the page itself but as I said before there is no page to reference anymore. --JAMMAPARTS 16:52, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a cached version of the site that you used? We need some kind of source, otherwise it can be viewed as a copyright violation. --larsinio (poke)(prod) 17:49, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Unfortunately, I saved that info from a partially cached page on Google at the time after the site shut down (this was a couple months ago) but now that's completely gone too. I'm not trying to infringe on any copyrights, I just figured that since this info can't be found anywhere else on the internet now, it would be helpful to at least have it here. But if you need to erase any of the content I added, please do so, to avoid any possible violations. I'm currently trying to contact the original author and host of the site to see if he will release any of the content or possibly let me host his pages again so the information will again be available.--JAMMAPARTS 18:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

New Coke can

Is that a US New Coke can? It looks like one but a) its volume is given in milliliters and b) the silver slash says "New taste!" instead of just "New".

It's certainly better than nothing, but since New Coke is primarily considered a U.S. product (even if Coke II does well in the Pacific Islands), I'd like to have the can be an American one. Daniel Case 22:18, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its from japan. --larsinio (poke)(prod) 22:28, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Hmm. I didn't know Coke had introduced it in Japan. Do you have some information on that? The article currently says it was available only in the U.S. and Canada. Now we're contradicting ourselves. Daniel Case 02:58, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its from here. http://www.colawp.com/database/cola.php?cola_id=506, which was a japanese webpage. But teh can is actually from canada. translation here. --larsinio (poke)(prod) 13:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about this, but it has a copyright notice and we can't claim fair use for it. It will have to go unless you know how to get the copyright owner to release it. Never mind. I checked and you did put the appropriate tag on it. Daniel Case 21:41, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Newcoke maxheadroom.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Newcoke maxheadroom.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Oh, also re this, whether it stays or not, I generally am faiarly strict, as most other Wikipedians seem to be, about making sure images alternate sides of the page within articles (this follows people's eye movement across a page and is thus the most reading-friendly). I realized you were trying to fix the problem the bulleting created, so I made the image smaller and moved it up. It's fine for now (I do plan to expand that section). Daniel Case

Screenshot

Screenshots can be used when their contents are being discussed. They may be a useful way of identifying the game - but that is not what fair use is for. ed g2stalk 18:01, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not much - they also shouldn't be used. Compare with the screenshots in Nintendo 64, which use the screenshots to further the discussion. ed g2stalk 18:11, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They violate policy because they don't have a strong reason to be there. ed g2stalk 19:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted

Removed - I was leaving a message for somoene else and was tricked by the deceptive "Leave a message" box that pointed to your user talk page. Sorry. Hbdragon88 07:19, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, I'd already thought about that on my 2nd or third rv i'm going to make a minor text mod thus its not a revert :) PS: I'd appreciate you doing some reverts as well so then he is out numberd :) Matthew Fenton [t/c] 14:39, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you use MSN Messenger ? Matthew Fenton [t/c] 16:02, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning without meaning

Please keep in mind that warning without any meaning is considered vandalism and uncivil. Please keep that in mind before you start stalking users because of their behaviour. ed g2s has been in arguments with me before aswell, but warning for something that he believes is policy is not the way to go, I would rather you take part in Wikipedia:Fair use by telling us why screenshots and the like should be allowed on Wikipedia. This message was given to you and MatthewFenton. Havok (T/C/c) 16:06, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I gave you the same message as Matthew. You didn't warn him, but just keep what I said in mind. And please do check out fair use, it's a good read. It was not my intent to warn you for something you didn't do. Think of this as a for-warning. Again, sorry. Havok (T/C/c) 16:24, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know your feelings all to well. I've found out that if you want to change anything, you need to work for it. It's not a case of being anal about your approache (which I was before), but rather work together for the common good. Hence I would love for you to discuss your feelings about fair use over at the fair use article. I am currently in contact with the foundation trying to figure out a way to let screenshots be used without releasing them under GNU or CC, seeing as no company on earth would dispute the use of screenshots (talking about gaming companies here, TV shows/movies are an entirely different matter). POV-tag

Errr... Are you sure the {{POV-tag}} is really widely used and widely implemented? To me it seems it's used only at the TfD process page... //Halibutt 14:32, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Arcadia telefever.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Arcadia telefever.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. owl

you reverted the american 1-dollar bill entry to the version without the recent owl edit.

this information was posted because it was missing from the page. presence of said owl can be confirmed visually.

it is crucial that this piece of information remain, because an official explanation regarding the history and symbolism of the owl does not seem to exist. someone with this knowlege may see the information and write an explanation so that the wikipedia community can benefit.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Gradius gaiden-cover.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Gradius gaiden-cover.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Corybooker cspan.jpg

Image:Corybooker cspan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Corybooker cspan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Powerglovead.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Sherool (talk) 09:37, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
