Art Tatum
Art Tatum (October 13, 1909 – November 5, 1956) was an American pianist, widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz performers in history. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he began playing the piano professionally and hosting a nationwide radio program while in his teens. He left Toledo in 1932 and had residencies as a solo pianist at clubs in major urban centers including New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In that decade, he settled into a pattern he followed for most of his career – paid performances followed by long after-hours playing, all accompanied by prodigious consumption of alcohol. In the 1940s, Tatum led a commercially successful trio for a short time and began playing in more formal jazz concert settings, including at Norman Granz-produced Jazz at the Philharmonic events. His popularity diminished towards the end of the decade, as he continued to play in his own style, ignoring the rise of bebop. Granz recorded Tatum extensively in solo and small group formats in the mid-1950s, with the last session only two months before Tatum's death from uremia at the age of 47. This photograph by William P. Gottlieb shows Tatum playing the piano in the Vogue Room in New York City sometime in the late 1940s.Photograph credit: William P. Gottlieb

Gotta go? Try the oldest toilet in the world! Unfortunately that's all you'll see on a visit to Lothal, which otherwise is host to the oldest-known port in the world. The ASI has buried the rest.

Thank you all!

I'd love to spam 159 usertalk pages with soppy thank you notes, but it might be slightly frowned upon or inconvenient to the people I'm thanking. I'd just like y'all to know that I appreciate your support a helluva lot. I mean it - I offer you a glass of ice-cold hard liquor (the dudes who don't drink, I'll buy thee a coke!). Thanks again - if I can be of any assistance, gimme a buzz anytime. Cheers, Rama's arrow 02:02, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not soppy enough to congratulate you here. ;) (to borrow his excuse for nothing) -- Sundar \talk \contribs 06:52, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you take a look. Thanks. --BostonMA talk 03:07, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. He keeps removing the speedy tag however. The lack of a source is not the only problem, however. The article is truly patent non-sense. "If Polaria remains untreated, you have a 90% chance of dieing due to your gallbladder reputing.", "The term 'Polaria' derives from the person who discoverd the disease, Dr. Monroe Polariaoscpia.", "It's medical term is Expanding Communicable Gallbladder (ECG).". But hey, lets give him some time, as long as he doesn't remove the speedy tag! ;-). --BostonMA talk 03:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You gotta give him credit! ;-). --BostonMA talk 03:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks

Hi Bhadaniji - thank you very much for your support and guidance. You are a role model for every Wikipedian. Btw, I noted that you may be upset about certain problems Wikipedia is facing. Please don't consider leaving (or becoming inactive) - the problems are not as serious as the growth of the encyclopedia in the right direction. If you like, take a break or so but don't leave! If I can be of assistance for anything, just gimme a buzz. Thanks again, Rama's arrow 03:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for your note of encouragement. Niravjee, actually I am not leaving as such - I know as the community grows, new challenges would always surface. This is not a problem as we are the most resilient virtual community, capable of neutralizing any challenges. For last few months, I have remained generally inactive for all practical purpose though I am not completely inactive. I shall surely like to continue and would certainly become more active very soon. I do not find any necessity to take any break as I do not feel stressed any more - Wikipedia is rather de-stressing! Regards. --Bhadani 03:28, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because people often complain that RfA thank-you messages are impersonal, I thought I'd give you the opportunity to create your own. -- tariqabjotu 03:38, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think any messages between us are impersonal. That your arduous journey culminated alongside mine evokes a sense of brotherhood. Congratulations for your devotion to Wikipedia despite the controversial previous RfAs you had to bear. Rama's arrow 03:43, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes very impressive! But your RfA last time was (45/19/5) on 14 May 2006, the final this time (160/0/0) 17 Nov 2006, I would ask you to with draw you admin to shoot for (700/0/0) in about another six months ;-) Congrats! ▪◦▪=Sirex98= 05:00, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
