Regarding to correct minor mistake

In the early life paragraph an user has done a minor mistake. Dr. Shamsheer obtained his MD in Radiology "at" Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute. One of the user has removed "at" and instead of that he used "from" which is grammatically wrong. Please! anyone can correct that. Thank you. (223.230.172.63 (talk) 11:32, 2 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

"From" is perfectly good grammar. Why correct it? Dbfirs 17:59, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Absolutely;but "from" and "at" have two different meanings. At tis place "at" will be more appropriate. One of the administrators had suggested me this because I also did the same mistake.

Thank you. (223.230.172.63 (talk) 00:41, 3 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Why not keep "from"? May I ask what is going on with this article? There have been six edits from your IP address that were either vandalism or carelessness with misleading edit summaries. Was that you? Dbfirs 12:54, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • It is me but I am trying to improve the article, not to vandalise it.I am trying very hard to learn how to edit Wikipedia but my every try goes in vain.I think that my edits are not published properly because I am doing this on smartphone not on computer. So,I post query on talk page but when no one listen to my request then I somehow try to make desire edit but I fail every time.
 • If you see my previous requests related to article, none of them were irrelevant. If you compare the article which was 2 months ago with the present one you will certainly find many differences. This is all because of me.
 • The only difference between me and other users is that they edit themselves and I have to beg before them to make desire edit.
 • I am in shock that I am accused as a " Culprit " by you all. (223.230.172.63 (talk) 13:57, 3 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]
So am I correct in thinking that your attempted edits on a mobile phone have caused all the problems with this article? I suggest that you stop trying to edit directly, or buy or borrow a computer, or learn how to edit without causing damage to the article. Also, you must stop giving misleading edit summaries. Dbfirs 14:10, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • I can't borrow a computer from anyone nor I can buy it. I think I am pretty much comfortable to post my query on talk page. It is relevant or not is only up to you all.

Thank you. (223.230.172.63 (talk) 14:32, 3 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

In that case, please stop trying to edit articles until you are competent at editing on your phone, but you are welcome to continue to suggest improvements on talk pages because you seem to have some competence in editing those. Dbfirs 14:45, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • To all editors:

At bottom there is two profile pictures of Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil. Out of two which should be placed in the info box? Please! give your views. Thanks to all. (223.230.172.63 (talk) 15:15, 3 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Persistent IP editor: Please try hard to improve your use of Wikipedia

Hi there! you have been trying hard to make improvements to this article, but your efforts have become disruptive. I will not hold your past activities against you, if you will try very hard to improve the way you edit Wikipedia going forward.

Here are the problems that I and other editors have seen. Each of these issues require improvement on your part:

 • Please place related requests in the same section, Don't start a new section for the identical request.
 • Please do not start a new section with a name that is identical to the name of an earlier section on the same talk page.
 • Please do not start a line with a space character: That causes funny formatting.
 • Please consider crating an account. Since you are editing without logging in, it is hard for us to communicate with you.

If you have any questions about how to do these things, Please feel free to ask here and I will try to help.

Persistent IP editor: Thanks for trying to improve!

You are doing better: making change requests here.

Hi 223.230.147.40. Please follow the advice given to you and do not remove content from talk pages. Misleading edit summaries are considered bad practice. Please stop. Dbfirs 10:54, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article Sources/Cleanup

A number of editors have all tried to help, but you've (shifting IP address requester with persistent and conflicting change requests) requested conflicting changes, erased/replaced some requests with new ones, added and removed requests on individual editor talk pages, failed to provide links to sources, and generally been unclear in what changes you are requesting. Here is what I've done to improve the article as that is what our focus is regardless of your preferences on how you would like to see the information presented. I've

 • conducted a copy edit of the article contents itself
 • clarified article wording based on the citations
 • located more sources for some items in the Early Life section
 • removed minor details for which I couldn't find any source
 • consolidated Shamsheer's efforts related to NRI rights
 • reorganized the Awards and Accolades section

Multiple editors have already tweaked the infobox (in multiple conflicting ways due to your repeated, unclear, and unconventional requests), so I left that part alone until you are able to succinctly state your request with appropriate sources. Orville1974 (talk) 19:07, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request 25 June 2019

This is a previous request, please do not edit it. Instead start a new request by click that link. Thank you!
In the new tab that pops out
 • First box (Subject/headline) please enter "Edit Request [put the date]". So make sure to replace "put the date" with date you made the request.
 • Second box, put what you actually want to be changed. (like you have been doing 1)change)

The Requests

 • Some informations need to be added in Dr. Shamsheer's article:-

1:) In infobox:Add his parents name.(Extract information from Dr. Shamsheer's google profile page)
2:) In awards and accolades paragraph:

a.) Healthcare CEO of The Year, 2019.1
b:) ABLF Outstanding Business Citizen Award, October 6,2018.2

3:) One more thing in awards and accolades paragraph an error is occuring in one of the citation ([25]). After clicking on that citation a archive gets open. The main problem in that page is; the page sometimes works and sometimes shows error. That page should be properly updated and saved, so that it never shows error again.
Thanks.(223.230.174.6 (talk) 17:23, 25 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Change Log/Responses to Request(s)

The following are responses the the requests made.

Sir,the link on which you asked to click is the same I am also talking about. The link is working sometimes and the next time it shows error. The link should be properly updated and saved. (comment by 223.230.174.6)
Okay, for me it works every time so I will keep track of it. I will try to work out the issue, once I see that the link does not work. OkayKenG (talk) 04:02, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing in Dr. Shamsheer's article his wife name is written as Shabeena Ali instead of that Shabeena Vayalil should be written (in infobox).Link:-3 Thanks. (223.230.174.6 (talk) 03:39, 26 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]
(I guess this is Request 4) We should have a discussion that before we change that. We tend to use their WP:COMMONNAME when mentioning a spouse in the infobox. Many other biographies on Wikipedia use the spouse's maiden name (name before marriage). As Shabeena Vayalil's name before marriage is Shabeena Ali, that's why we have her name here like that in the infobox. Sorry I had to reformat your comment to make it easier to see, but I tired not to change any of the content. OkayKenG (talk) 04:02, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Referring to Request 2b about the "ABLF Outstanding Business Citizen Award" I will add that as it is confinedconfirmed by an reliable source. Thanks for the ref! OkayKenG (talk) 04:07, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I did it. OkayKenG (talk) 04:12, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sir, to know about Dr. Shamsheer's parents name click on the citation ([25]) present in Awards and accolades paragraph.
Thanks. (223.230.174.6 (talk) 05:20, 26 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]
Oh, thanks, totally missed that. I added the parent's in this edit. Request 1 has been done now. OkayKenG (talk) 05:40, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Summery (June 25) All requests 1-3 have been addressed. In these edits we have added the parent's name (in the infobox). For request 2, reliable sources confirm those awards and so have been added. Request 3 is under investigation. Request 4, for now (pun intended) has not been implemented pending the discussion indicated above. OkayKenG (talk) 05:47, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Thanks for the suggestions OkayKenG (talk) 05:48, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Sir, for how many days Request 3 will be under investigation? Will the citation work properly or not in future?
Please see Eman235's comment below. (the one that starts with "By the way—have not read this whole thread—...") If the issue comes up again, you can bring it up again. It should be fixed. Per this tweet which says "Internet Archive sites are back up after last night's unexpected fiber cut. Let's go back to just reading about drama and suspense - the library is now open." OkayKenG (talk) 06:23, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • After how many days Request 4 will be implemented?

Thanks. (223.230.174.6 (talk) 06:10, 26 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

For Request 4, we just have to wait for other user's comment. OkayKenG (talk) 06:23, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Hey, can't you say it looks a little bit better then previous threads? :) OkayKenG (talk) 06:23, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Final Bullet Okay, this is the final question asked by the OP "One more thing in Dr. Shamsheer's article his wife name is written as Shabeena Ali instead of that Shabeena Vayalil should be written (in infobox).Link:-4" We should have a discussion that before we change that. (pinging recent editors Orville1974,Eman235,@Eagleash:))
I think we should leave it as it is: We tend to use their WP:COMMONNAME when mentioning a spouse in the infobox. Many other biographies on Wikipedia use the spouse's maiden name (name before marriage). As Shabeena Vayalil's name before marriage is Shabeena Ali, that's why we have her name here like that in the infobox. OkayKenG (talk) 06:43, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please repost this following this link new request. <--Thanks OkayKenG (talk) 15:16, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following changes have been made

 • Shamsheer Vayalil's parents have been added in the infobox, with a footnote
 • 2 awards given to Shamsheer Vayalil have been added with sources
 • The issue with ref 25 has been resloved. Thanks to Eman235 pointing out an issue with Wayback Machine which is now back up
 • Shamsheer Vayalil's wife has been kept as Shabeena Ali

This belongs to all those editors who worked very hard to improve Dr. Shamsheer's article. It's very hard to thank every editor individually. So, I have used this platform to thank all of them. Edit Request 4 September 2024

This is a previous request, please do not edit it. Instead start a new request by click that link. Thank you!

@OkayKenji:

The Request

Sir, one of the important information about Dr. Shamsheer education is not presented in the early life paragraph. The information is: Dr. Shamsheer did his fellowship in Radiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. You can cross check this information from reference number [2] present in the article. When you will click on the Reference ([2]), a page (21) will appear. But the information is present in last paragraph of Page 20 and first line of Page 21. Note: You may consult with other senior Editors also to make this edit. Thanks(223.230.162.149 (talk) 15:16, 27 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

 • Sir, Orville1974 has made the edits.
 • Sir, I have a request when we click on the reference number [2], a page opens with number 21 but when we scroll to the page 20 or page 22, both the pages shows error (20 & 22).Why is this so? These pages(20 & 22) needs to be properly saved and updated by help of Wayback machine.

Thanks(223.230.162.149 (talk) 15:21, 27 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Change Log/Responses to Request(s)

The wayback machine didn't save the other pages of the article. I added a second reference to Shamsheer Vayalil's article, that contains the entire referenced article you're looking for, when I responded to your edit request and added the fellowship in Boston information. You can see the full article when you click on the other footnote following the radiology fellowship sentence (currently footnote 11). Orville1974

Summary of Changes

Added Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston radiology fellowship with a second source since the existing one (Wayback machine) was missing pages and did not include all the information. Orville1974talk 17:05, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 • Sir, one PDF link is not working, showing error. In Dr. Shamsheer's article the footnote [11] is linked with a page. When we visit that page and scroll it down a pdf appears which is this:http:www.tii.ae/pdfs/21.1.pdf.It is(pdf) a important part of that page but we can't download and read information present in that because of an error. Please! repair that pdf link.

Thanks. (223.230.162.149 (talk) 11:41, 28 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Here is an archive: [5]. The relevant article is on page 11 of the PDF.
It seems to me that both reference #11 (to zeytoon9.wordpress.com) and reference #2 (to theinternationalindian.com) should be updated to point to this PDF. Eman235/talk 12:26, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have also found the same PDF on theinternationalindian.com, which may be a better place to link since it is currently online. Eman235/talk 14:30, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Sir(Eman 235), What are you waiting for? Common go ahead, link & save the information as soon as you can, before the website becomes offline again. Remove footnotes #11 & #2 and instead of that provide with a single and common footnote.

Thanks. (223.230.162.149 (talk) 14:43, 28 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Done I've replaced the two citations with one for the Wayback machine's archive of the complete article. As an archive, and stable link, it's likely to stay there much longer than the indiantimes.com download link, which pulls a pdf with no context. Orville1974talk 14:46, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW there's an archive of that one too. Eman235/talk 14:47, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 • Sir, in the references paragraph of Dr. Shamsheer's article page, one more problem is there. Two references:-1:) [9] & [19] are from different news websites (origin).

=Reference 9 is from news website "Times of India" =Reference 19 is from news website "Economic Times" When we click on Reference 19,the page which appears shows that it(page) belongs to "Times of India" but actually it's not true. How can this possible that a particular news website(Economic Times) is showing information of other news website (Times of India)? This matter is also very serious and needs quick changes. Thanks.

The Times citations were duplicates of each other, so I removed one. I also fixed the infobox footnote. Eman235/talk 22:01, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Image used in infobox

Our IP friend has asked me here to restore the image used in the infobox to this one, with the rationale that the original is taller. I'm not too sure about this, though, since the new image is overall bigger, and the important part of the image (the face) displays at around the same size. What do other page watchers think? Eman235/talk 17:34, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:Dr Shamsheer Vayalil.jpg
File:Shamsheer Vayalil.jpg
FWIW, I like the top one a little better.Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:25, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I also find the top one better. (223.230.172.63 (talk) 15:17, 3 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]
Okay—I restored the old image, and added commons category, which links to the other image as well. Eman235/talk 18:54, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

References not working

In Dr. Shamsheer's article some references are not working. These are 28,30 & 33.One of the reference number 21 is repeated three times. Thank you. (223.230.162.19 (talk) 17:14, 9 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

I've fixed the duplicate references. The broken references are now numbers 26, 28, and 31. Not sure what to do about the first two, since they weren't archived by the Wayback Machine. Ref #31 looks fine to me—what is the exact problem with it? Eman235/talk 17:51, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

•In that case the references 26 & 28 should be replaced with a functional alternative reference because this is the only solution of the problem. Thank you. (223.230.145.30 (talk) 18:37, 9 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

So can you find appropriate alternative references? Dbfirs 20:01, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

•It is difficult to find alternative reference but references 26 & 28 should be saved with the help of wayback machine. Same like reference 2 which was saved by an user (Eman235). Thank you. (223.230.165.158 (talk) 09:03, 10 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

To add more informations

In this article some more information needs to be added. These are as follows:-

 • Philanthropy part:

6

 • Business part:

1) 7 2) 8 (The link will display that Dr. Shamsheer has earmarked Rs1000 crore for expansion plan for healthcare in India.) Please! anyone add these informations in the article in the respective paragraphs. Thank you. (223.230.165.12 (talk) 03:03, 14 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

 • I tried hard to add it myself but it lead to disruption of article. So, I stopped editing further. May be I did edits on my phone.

Thank you. (223.230.128.193 (talk) 19:09, 18 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Before I make any edits to this, can I ask whether you have any connection to the subject of this article? As far as I can see, you haven't edited anything else on Wikipedia. Vanamonde (Talk) 15:28, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About "Business part" I also think in that some information are not clear and that part should not be added in the article. Thank you. (223.230.159.65 (talk) 19:21, 31 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

 • I think the information related to philanthropy(discussed above)should be added in the article. Please!comment how many of you agree with that.

Thank you all:) (223.230.129.186 (talk) 19:01, 19 September 2019 (UTC))[reply]
