Deividas Sirvydis

According to MLive, Deividas Sirvydis left Hapoel Jerusalem to join the Dtroit Pistons for training camp. Does that mean he is on the Pistons? ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 20:38, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If it’s actually training camp, and it may well be since there is no Summer League, then yeah we would update it once the Pistons do (like releasing a training camp roster or announcing the deal outright). Still needs to be announced by the team or league. Rikster2 (talk) 23:36, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, I don't think training camp begins until early December. So is he just trying out for the team now? ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 18:04, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If his signing to the training camp roster is announced by the team (or league), it gets updated. That’s the deal. Rikster2 (talk) 00:58, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Saddiq

According to CBSSports, Bey was picked by the Pistons, after a trade with the Nets. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 04:02, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You’re right - looks like the pick was traded late today Rikster2 (talk) 04:05, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Actually - watch the podium at the next pick and see what team is listed. As I read the story, looks like a done deal that isn’t announced Rikster2 (talk) 04:07, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely officially the Nets’ pick. Watch the crawl on ESPN plus the NBA.com draft board https://www.nba.com/draft/2020-draft-board Rikster2 (talk) 04:11, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I assume the deal has been made official? ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 19:41, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't been watching the news today - but I took the path of least resistance on my last round of edits. You can check NBA.com transactions or the Pistons website/Twitter Rikster2 (talk) 22:12, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Created his article last night. One step closer to knocking out the Patriot POYs. I was kind of brain dead when writing his article (long weekend) so if there's anything you know about this player that I may have missed / not done enough research, please let me know. SportsGuy789 (talk) 14:34, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, I will take a look later this week. One thing is since he went to a service academy you probably can get a fair use pic for him (like the one at Nick Welch (basketball)). Most military photos are not copyrighted. Rikster2 (talk) 14:39, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good to know! I'll look into that. I'm not good at photo licensing but I'll give it a shot, if I find a fair use pic. SportsGuy789 (talk) 15:32, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I added a photo. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the rationale is acceptable, because pics are outside of my comfort zone. SportsGuy789 (talk) 16:55, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kenny Wooten

He was a two-way when he was waived. I assumed his contract remained a two-way when claimed. G. Timothy Walton (talk) 23:18, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That’s not how it works. As a free agent he could be signed to any type of deal. Rikster2 (talk) 23:26, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Check this out

A map[1] of where Deerfield Beach HS students come from. If you had bothered to check Deerfield Beach High School, you wouldn't have reverted me....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 19:17, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He is listed with a hometown of "Deerfield Beach" here (page 37). If you had bothered to check, you shouldn't have reverted me. Now step off. Rikster2 (talk) 19:20, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I was typing on your Talk page the same time you were typing on mine, genius. Rikster2 (talk) 19:22, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know how many times hometown gets mistaken for the place the person went to HS? Jared Goff gets listed all the time as from Kernfield, California just because he went to HS there? Not always one and the same....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 19:24, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
When Goff was in college, his hometown on his official bio was listed as Novato (see here). In truth, colleges usually get this info from mailing addresses, not school addresses. Rikster2 (talk) 19:27, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You have a source for Nesbitt being born in Fort Lauderdale. This[2] says he was born in Deerfield. See the confusion I'm talking about. I would believe Fort Lauderdale over Deerfield because DB had no hospital within its boundaries at the time of his birth....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 19:43, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
BTW I checked that Nesbitt source of yours. It says Deerfield Beach but doesn't say hometown. BTW I went to DBHS where I graduated in 1979. I was a resident of Lighthouse Point from 1976-79 and lived a 1.5 block walk from DB....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 20:00, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's hometown - the way the profiles are formatted doesn't label it as such, but the roster on page 18 clearly does. Yes, places of birth are a whole other animal - I always look for a clear source that a person was actually born somewhere before adding it to an article - as was the case with this source. A bigger issue is that a lot of register sources just take the college hometown and call it birthplace, which is a problem. But that isn't the same problem we are talking about. Happy First Edit Day!

HS All-Star games

Is it me or is adding Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit to infobox excessive?[3]Bagumba (talk) 07:01, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Max Strus preseason

What matters is how much coverage he received. It's also not like he was on a summer league team. He was signed to two-way, converted to a standard NBA contract and the coverage of the competition between him and Javonte Green received was above average. Best, GPL93 (talk) 20:16, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, what matters is that we are consistent with how we treat teams for which a player never actually plays for (or even makes a final roster). When a player doesn't appear in a game, there is no category and it is not added to the club history. How is it consistent to add separate sub-headers about it (setting aside if a 2 line entry even needs a subject header). He did not receive such coverage that it demands a section - that would be something like Andrew Bynum's stint with the Sixers where he never played. Now, I am re-establishing my edit and you are at WP:3RR. If you want to push the issue, my recommendation is start a consensus conversation at the article Talk page or WP:NBA since I am sure this isn't the last time this situation will happen. Rikster2 (talk) 20:22, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Doctor

I see you've got Patrick Doctor on your user page. I just created his article today (I've been attacking the Patriot POYs lately... Ciosici, Lopez, King). Can you check your CBA register to see if he played for anyone other than Sioux Falls? Thanks! SportsGuy789 (talk) 21:44, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

that’s cool - I really don’t need to be the one who creates the articles, but since he played in the CBA I had him in my list. I’m not at home, but can check when I get back tomorrow. Pretty sure he just played for one CBA team, though Rikster2 (talk) 22:34, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. SportsGuy789 (talk) 19:16, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sabrina Ionescu's injury any update? can you update that section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2F08:45FF:FFFF:0:0:50F:4A1F (talk) 05:30, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Travis Grant

Hello, I just wanted to understand why you removed from the highlights the following achievments: 3× AP Little College All-American (1970–1972), 3× UPI Little College All-American (1970–1972) and College Basketball Third All-Time Scorer (4,045 points) ?.Tecmo (talk) 18:47, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no consensus to include these things in the infobox. He’s already listed as NAIA and Division 2 All-American for those years and the NCAA guide uses the little All-AMerican teams as one of the inputs. So it’s duplicative. And being second or third in anything doesn’t go in the infobox - should be noted in the prose. Rikster2 (talk) 18:54, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Trace Cureton

Hey. I see you edited the Trace Cureton page back in January. I'm considering nominating it for AfD but it appears to have a lot of support from different accounts since late last year (perhaps socks?). What do you reckon? His NCAA D1 stint at Utah State was nothing to ride home about and I don't see too much to support GNG from that front. He has only played "professionally" in an Australian third-tier league and it's all a bit cringe considering the guy himself links his Wikipedia page on his website. I've cleaned it up considerably as it had a lot of BS. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 03:51, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You might not care at this point, but it's now been moved to Draft:Trace Cureton. Thanks anyway. DaHuzyBru (talk) 09:42, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up. It’s not an article I care either way about. I just correct formatting on these types in case they are kept. Rikster2 (talk) 12:56, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another one bites the dust

Because you're the only other editor who truly understands the decade-plus efforts (and counting) to get through all D1 CPOYs, I wanted to let you know I finished off Patriot League Men's Basketball Player of the Year yesterday. One more conference down, a handful more to go. SportsGuy789 (talk) 16:06, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good job. If you get antsy, there are 4 2021 CPOYs without articles - I may get to them at some point but things have been busy on the work front. Rikster2 (talk) 17:43, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to leave the newest CPOYs alone since there are a plethora of editors who like hopping on them. The historical ones, especially in the mid-major conferences, don't get love. Not sure which conference I'm going to focus on next but I'm leaning Big West. We'll see. SportsGuy789 (talk) 18:37, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He is listed as alive on wikipedia but according to this news outlet he died in 2018

Kenny Robertson (basketball)

I couldn't find much on him, despite his success in college. When you've got a minute, can you please see what else you can dig up? SportsGuy789 (talk) 16:32, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, will take a look when I get a chance. Rikster2 (talk) 16:27, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the back and forth at Lavine's article[4]. I don't feel strongly whether it stays or goes. Leaving it means WP editors can monitor its value locally if anyone vandalizes it. Removing it means we're dependent on whatever is at Wikidata. There's a lot of people that don't trust Wikidata, that's why we see all those edits to add WP's own short page descriptions. Sorry if this is all nothing new. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 07:53, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2012 NBA draft

Only highlighted players to have picture privilege to reduce the size of page.

Billy Forbes (footballer, born 1990)

BRD applies. You sought to remove the category (B), I restored it (R), now it's time to discuss please (D). GiantSnowman 11:42, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My edit was not bold. That’s the point. And BRD is an “optional process.” I am going to take this to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring since you don’t want to start your own consensus discussion to codify your preference. Rikster2 (talk) 11:47, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Anderson Varejão hidden notes

Hey mate. Just wanted to get your thoughts on the reasoning behind removing the hidden notes at Anderson Varejão. How do you see trying to avoid users adding "NBA champion" to the infobox moving forward? Thanks. DaHuzyBru (talk) 15:19, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I left one at the top. If somebody ignores that 2 more in a list isn't going to stop them. Seemed silly to put the same note in three times. Rikster2 (talk) 15:23, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
True, sorry missed that. Yeah, fair enough. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 07:16, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Could you check Draft:Ezequiel Matthysse and post it as an article on wikipedia please? Thank you and I look forward to your help! :) Emat20211 (talk) 13:40, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Emat20211[reply]
