Chase Young Accolades

Although the Pro Bowl may be a popularity contest in your opinion, it still is an important accolade in the league and matters when it comes to deciding who should be in the Hall of Fame after one's career is over (along with AP All-Pro honors, and AP NFL Honors). I believe Chase's Pro Bowl accolades should be above PFWA Honors. Yes, PFWA Rookie of the Year and All-Conference honors are a great award to receive, but they are not the official NFL designation whereas AP is (for when Chase eventually is given DROTY honors on February 6th). I believe that as Chase's career goes on throughout the years, his NFL accolades should be in order from (if he receives these)

- AP Defensive Player of the Year Awards/MVP - AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year - AP All-Pro teams - Pro Bowls - NFL statistic leader (sacks) - other awards (PFWA, etc).

I hope you understand where I am coming from. I believe this is what is best for Chase's wikipedia page and I know you want what is best as well. I understand all edits you make to the page and appreciate the work you do, and I hope we can come to an agreement.

@HTTRJustin: I understand where you are coming from, and I'm aware it's not as "official" as the AP award but we both know the Pro Bowl is a fan-driven popularity contest. Any actual award/honor presented by a professional organization (which PFWA seems to be, unless you disagree?) should be deemed a higher honor and thus placed above Pro Bowls in the infobox. And with that being said, Chase is highly likely to win the AP DROY award anyway, meaning we'd just generalize it and have it placed on top like we have for Nick Bosa (he won AP, PFWA, and Pepsi's DROY awards but it's simply better to keep the award generic in cases like this and list the exact publications/organizations in prose instead). If you still disagree we can ask more members of WT:NFL. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:44, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: 1/3 of the Pro Bowl vote is by the fans, the other 2/3 is by the players and coaches. I do not disagree that PFWA is a professional organization and I do believe that these honors given to him by PFWA should be in the infobox, but I do not agree that it should be placed above his Pro Bowl honors. I am basing this off of other pages as well (I have yet to see a defensive player in the league with their Pro Bowl honors being placed below PFWA). Feel free to ask the WT:NFL page and see what they think. HTTRJustin (talk) 19:53, 19 January 2021 (UTC)Justin[reply]
HTTRJustin, you don't see this formatting on most other pages because for some reason Pro Bowls were supposed to be listed above All-Pro and most other honors until we changed that within the last year or two. Those pages either haven't been updated or they have and people unknowingly revert it in thinking it's an error. And like I said, if he wins the AP award it's just going to go right above Pro Bowl anyway as a generalized claim, of which I don't think you disagree with? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:10, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dissident93, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by generalized claim for the DROTY award. Are you saying it will be like Nick Bosa's info box where it's just listed as "Defensive Rookie of the Year" and the specific publications (AP, PFWA) will not be listed, and therefore the PFWA Defensive Rookie of the Year accolade we currently have will be removed? If so, I am fine with that specifically. Furthermore, can you link me to where it was agreed upon that all other honors will be placed above Pro Bowls? If it was agreed upon that Pro Bowls should be the lowest honor recognized for infoboxes, then I will go with it. I just personally believe that Pro Bowl honors are very important and even though in our current modern day of football the Pro Bowl is seen as a popularity contest, it is still as important for career accolades (and should be listed above PFWA conference teams). HTTRJustin (talk) 22:37, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
HTTRJustin, yes that's what I mean. If he gets awarded for DROY by another organization (very likely), we'd generally omit that from the infobox for bloat reasons and keep all the details in prose. As for the discussion, I believe it was held on WT:NFL or somewhere similar and should be archived. I can try to find it if you'd like.
But in essence awards and honors in the infobox are to be listed in order of actual magnitude. And while Pro Bowls still matter and are notable, I don't think they should be placed above all-conference teams and individual player awards, especially not with the later as there can only be one defensive rookie of the year while the Pro Bowl can contain several of them. Anyway as for the all-NFC PFWA team, I don't really mind putting that below Pro Bowl since it doesn't have the same honor as AP's All-Pro. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 23:48, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dissident93, Sounds good. I'm fine with having all Defensive Rookie of the Year honors no matter the publication be listed above Pro Bowl. And yes, for the PFWA conference teams I would also be comfortable with having that be below Pro Bowl honors. I'm glad we were able to come to an agreement. Here's to hoping Chase wins the AP DROTY! Have a good one. HTTRJustin (talk) 00:06, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Video games Newsletter survey

Hello Dissident! I'm conducting a feature for the video games newsletter similar to that of a survey. I'm going to ask users their opinions on a specific matter and highlight unique and common answers to determine consensus on a subject. Your input would be very valuable, alongside others, to help answer this question.

The question is: How do you determine what makes a video game character notable enough for their own page? Do you follow pre-existing guidelines or have your own opinions on the matter?

Panini🥪 10:44, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Panini!, mostly by having several articles written specifically about them. Some people may misunderstand this as citing any passing mention in an otherwise semi-relevant article as giving WP:N to it. And for me personally, I might be considered more strict on these sort of things than most other WP:VG members, as I don't really support spinoff articles, such as Anor Londo and Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls, as they are mainly sourced from brief mentions on a list-type article and don't really have any strong articles regarding its development or legacy beyond some single editor's opinion. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:20, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dissident93, Thanks for the input! Panini🥪 21:32, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding executive producer credits on DOTA: Dragon’s Blood

Producing credits in general tend to be weird. In shows and movies they don’t use co-executive to mean more than one. There are plenty of shows and movies that will credit multiple executive producers and then have a completely separate co-executive producer credits. Take The Legend of Korra for example, The two creators of the show are credited as executive producers while Joaquim Dos Santos is credit as a co-executive producer. I know it’s weird, but movies and TV shows don’t use co-executive to mean more than one. They treat it as a different credit. Max1057 (talk) 09:54, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Max1057, fair enough, even if it's still kind of redundant. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:33, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Alex Smith quote

The Alex Smith quote I added doesn't not violate copyright as there is a transcript on the source I linked. The real Alex Smith attempted to add the quote into the article unsourced so I sourced the one quote that actually gave insight behind his injury. Just a source inquiry

Hello again!

Sorry to disturb you on your talk page, but I was running through the Warioware Gold article's edit history while prepping to add citation for Intelligent System's involvement when I notice you mentioning that Nintendo Everything isn't a reliable source. It was said a while back, but I'm just curious about the particulars of this, as claims of Eighting's involvement in the development of Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Grezzo's alleged involvement in the Miitopia port circle back to Nintendo Everything almost across the board in other reports. Worse still is that the claim of Grezzo's involvement with Miitopia's port regard the game's UK Nintendo page as a source, but that information is both unavailable on the page and the site hasn't been/can't be archived to top it off, completely eliminating any reputable trail to substantiate the claim as it exists on the article currently.

I'd appreciate the elaboration while I look for other avenues to more appropriately source the pages that are cornered by this issue. Thank you very much for your time. Fact Scanner (talk) 12:55, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fact Scanner, they are known for publishing false information and/or rumors that cite back to REALLY unreliable sources such as ResetEra and Reddit. See WP:VG/RS and the several dicussions that have been made on Nintendo Everything here, here, here, and here. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:50, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the links and information, Dissident93. I'm at a bit of an impasse for two situations with this confirmation due to how even the reliable sites circle their own sourcing back to Nintendo Everything, but I'll take a look around at other options for one of the articles and probably remove the info from the other until things can be properly sourced. Take care, and thanks again. Fact Scanner (talk) 22:36, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tanard Jackson

He's finally been released by WFT!! [2] Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:52, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I assumed he was released years ago and we just somehow missed it. But that being said, it's extremely misleading to say he was a member of the Washington Football Team even if his contract was only officially terminated today. We went through this sort of thing before with Justin Blackmon and some other Bills player that I can't remember. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 01:23, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Eagles247, you say you believe consistency is the most important aspect but what's the difference between announcing your retirement and only being released off the reserve list years later like Kory Lichtensteiger? Do we say he stopped being a member of the team in 2020 as well? And don't we already use an arbitrary cut-off for replacing "is a free agent" with "is a former player"? If the team simply kept Jackson on the list for another 50 years, would you honestly argue that he was on the team for that long? We had a more recent discussion on Justin Blackmon (you were there) where consensus leaned more away from the style you are trying to keep. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:38, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request for input: Nintendo Switch list proposal, notability of game as a whole or only of Switch version

Hi Dissident93, I'm writing to request your input on Talk:List of Nintendo Switch games (A–F)#Spinoff from above Break - When we are considering "secondary coverage" for the purpose of notability checks, should this be checking for the game as a whole, or only for the Switch version of the game?. As you know, there has already been a proposal to restrict the scope of the Switch list to only "notable" games, which you are in favour of. Simply put, the question is whether "notable games" means the Switch version of the game is notable, or the game as a whole is notable. Taking the former approach will lead us to an inconsistency between games with and without own articles, which I fear may lead to articles being created purely for the purpose of list inclusion, as I explained in more detail in the subsection. I already discussed with ferret and he said we need to get the input of more voices. I have posted the subsection on 12th April but so far got no responses. I would appreciate your input. Thanks! ESPN source for stats college football

Is there a WP page that specifies the source for stats should be the school website on college players? I don't see why we wouldn't use ESPN as it is listed as the source for stats at the bottom of the infobox. Hunterb212 (talk) 20:28, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hunterb212, I don't believe there is a strict guideline (it might have been more WT:NFL discussion), but it's been a common occurrence for years to simply go with their school or team's listed height/weight to avoid edit warring over a 3 pound difference based on something from social media, ESPN, or a Pro Day. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:44, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm used to NFL player pages that use the source at the bottom of the infobox for stats NFL.com. So I just assumed college players pages would work the same way as the source for stats listed at the bottom of the infobox is ESPN.com. Hunterb212 (talk) 20:57, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hunterb212, right, but since we are going to be changing them to the NFL infoboxes once they are drafted. Note that since the NFL infobox doesn't include an ESPN parameter, the weights/heights would most likely be inconsistent again with their new team/NFL.com profiles. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:08, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hunterb212 pinging you again for a response to this. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 10:31, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sean Plott's (Day9) marriage

Hi, you removed an addition I made on this article. What I don't understand is this part of the justification: "not even mentioned anywhere else in the article" An important biographical fact about a person, such as his marriage, is not considered relevant enough to appear in the overview, if it's not also mentioned somewhere else in the article? I'm just asking because it doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

The infobox is not supposed to be the only first and source of info in the article, especially if it was added without a citation. The WP:BURDEN is on you to find a reliable source stating he was married and write it into prose. Only then should it exist in the infobox. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:37, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK I get the "cite your sources" thing, and there I made a mistake. But I still don't see anything in the quoted rule about things only being in the infobox being problematic. Is that a Wikipedia rule, or is it a "Dissident93 rule"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:AB04:2B3:6800:B9AA:843B:2A58:5B1A (talk) 05:06, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MOSBIO and WP:INFOBOXREF. Leads and infoboxes are meant to summarize key elements that already exist within the article, and thus should not exclusively include info not mentioned/cited anywhere else in the article. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 09:37, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hatnotes

I saw you revert to add the CB hatnote back to Eric Stokes (American football executive). I could understand if the exec was the top hit for "Eric Stokes" or "Eric Stokes cornerback", but he's not. Otherwise, WP:NAMB usually applies. Hatnotes are meant for a reader who accidentally ends up on a page when they are really looking for someone else. I'm missing how someone could accidentally get there. Interested in your perspective. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 03:52, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bagumba, the policy linked there says "It is usually preferable not to have a hatnote when the name of the article is not ambiguous." Meaning, it doesn't have to be removed. And like I stated in the edit summary, there are still search results that link you there if searching Eric Stokes cornerback, so I just feel like keeping it there to fully avoid confusion doesn't hurt anything. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 03:56, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's an extreme case for "usually preferable", but I think there's more productive things for us. I usually won't look at page history for these, so apologies if I happen to revert an edit of yours in this area. Best.—Bagumba (talk) 04:02, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Really? I don't see how the template hurts even in a case that could be considered less confusing, such as them having the same name but playing different positions. But don't worry, as long as an edit can be discussed a revert is always worth it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 04:13, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Video games Newsletter survey

I'm conducting another survey for the Wikiproject Video games Newsletter. If you could leave your thoughts on the matter it would be greatly appreciated. Every response will be compiled into a MOS-Esque answer that balances the thoughts of our top contributors. You're one of them! The question is as follows:

What would you consider the requirements of making a video game series article? What about franchise articles?

If you would like to respond, please ping me here and write your reply. I'll handle the rest. Thanks in advance, Panini!🥪 14:50, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Panini!, are you asking if I view a series and franchise as two separate entities? If so, then I highly disagree with such a thing unless warranted by page size concerns. Otherwise my views on creating video game series articles aligns with the WP:VG policy on it, which is one should only be considered after three or more notable games for a series have been made. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 13:11, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Genshin Impact controversies

Hello, I have noticed that you removed my recent addition to Genshin Impact for using Twitter as a source (along with other such sourced sections). I'd like to re-add that part as I feel that it's important. There are several alternate sources for my addition that I could use as a reference instead, however those sources in turn reference the previously used tweet (and/or others pointing out the same thing), so I wasn't sure if that was fine and wanted to ask first. Zapientus (talk) 11:49, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Zapientus, if it's from a reliable source covering the tweets, then that's acceptable. We just can't directly cite 2-3 tweets by random non-notable people and create an entire section based on that, as anybody can tweet a complaint. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 16:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the response. I've discovered that one of the articles I had in mind as a source is actually already referenced earlier in the same section, so I believe it should be fine. Zapientus (talk) 17:08, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dissident93, this is about league of legends, and wikidata&infobox

Hello, i wanted to ask you a question about league of legends series and the wikidata being pulled on this. the games, legends of runeterra and teamfight tactics are under the series of 'league of legends' in the infobox, as such i would like to recommend that we confirm on the league of legends article, that its all apart of the same series, basically putting 'league of legends' in the 'series' of infobox, thankyou sir

Any suggestions?

Hello Dissident93,

I wanted to apologize for the miscommunication. I was under the impression that Behind The Voice Actors was credible. I am fairly new to editing but I didn't see anything on the reliable sources page listing is as unreliable and if it was listed as non consensus that would list it as non consensus rather than unreliable. I am looking around seeing if I can find some websites that are reliable/non consensus that are useful for looking up information on voice actors. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for passing it along to me that it isn't considered credible. Updatewithfacts (talk) 17:43, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Resilient Barnstar
Hello. I was wondering if you'd be interested in being the primary editor for Tom Brady's article to get it promoted to good article status. I've read your profile page and am impressed with all the pages and edits you have made. I would do it myself but sadly this is a new account. You also seem to be far more experienced with the website than other users, plus your interest in the NFL made you a prime candidate for his article nomination.

Long story short, I'm nominating you to nominate Brady's article to become good article status. I will attempt to help with sources, editing, and the entire review as much as possible since this is important to me. Honestly I was shocked that Brady's article was not already in good article status. Also if you have any tips for getting better at editing I'd gladly hear them.
