Description: I was trying to add this block of text on the rumors surrounding F.W. Murnau's death and what remains of them on the wikipedia page : "According to biographer Les Hammer, in a 2012 book, "F.W. Murnau : for the record", Garcia Stevenson, the person driving Murnau's car when he was killed, was not 14 at the time, but a 31 years old full grown man (and that Murnau was in the back seat of the car). I've not read the book, so it's tough to assess its credibility, all the more as it's self-published. But it's been valitated by a 2017 peer-reviewed article by art historian Volker Welter, from UC Santa Barbara, who relies on a copy of the coroner's report, shared by Les Hammer. And in the comments of this blog article on Murnau's death, written by someone who claims to have family ties to Garcia Stevenson, Les Hammer makes a case that goes unchallenged (the original poster bouncing back on some of the biographical info he provides). What is the actual source which permits to say that Garcia Stevenson was 14 ? The link provided is not from a first-hand source. Does the New York Times article about Murnau's death mention it ? (I have no suscribtion and can't access it)

IMO, the correct way to address Murnau's death would be to assess what we really know (what does the NYT article say ? Do the sources used by Les Hammer seem legit ?) and then address the rumors and what we know of it (much of it can be traced to Kenneth Anger's Hollywood Babylon, from what I gather - is there any first hand source validating some of the claims ? Giving them credibility ?). That's actually pretty important, it seems to me. The gossip frames Murnau as some kind of pedophile (even if you remove the full gossip : why would he have a 14 years-old Philipino servant ? That's what made me tick when I checked this page after a Murnau film binge, and why I searched for more info). If there's some creditbility to it, so be it. If not, the latent homophobia of the gossip is telling and should be mentionned, it seems to me."
