Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, PlentyValleyFM886, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Plentyvalleyfm886, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

The page User:Plentyvalleyfm886 has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. [edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

Thank you. Girth Summit (blether) 06:11, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Plenty Valley FM) for editing in an area where you have a conflict of interest, despite previous block..
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Girth Summit (blether) 15:08, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - despite the links in your earlier block notice to our COI guidance, you appear to have gone straight to our article about a subject you are affiliated with and started making promotional edits there. I've blocked your account from editing the article indefinitely; you are still free to make edit requests on the article talk page to suggest edits, but you must disclose your connection with the organisation properly first. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am the President of the Organisation and our Wikipedia page has been dormant for many years. The purpose of the updates is to educate and inform about our organisation, not to promote it - we have a website for that, and we are a not-for-profit community radio station and emergency broadcaster. As a new and novice user to Wikipedia, the blocks encountered are quite disheartening. Can you please do whatever is possible to restore the page to the most recent edit and remove the block on access. Wrightceee1990 (talk) 11:06, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I would note that it is not "your Wikipedia page", but a Wikipedia article about your organization. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing(if you receive any money or any other form of compensation for your role as president, you are a paid editor). Users with a conflict of interest should not directly make edits related to their conflict of interest, but they may make formal edit requests(click for instructions) on the article talk page. You are only blocked from editing the article itself, you are free to make an edit request on the article talk page, Talk:Plenty Valley FM. 331dot (talk) 11:30, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'm sorry that this has been disheartening for you, that was not my intention. However, I must point out that I have given you links to those guidelines multiple times, and you still appear not to have read them. If anything is unclear, you can ask for guidance. The long and short of it is that if you think that sentences like As a public broadcaster, Plenty Valley FM takes its role in community engagement seriously. are acceptable, you have not grasped what our aim is here. No subjective commentary is acceptable - assertions must be neutral objective, factual, and supported by reliable independent sources. We have no interest in what organisations say about themselves; we seek to summarise what reliable, independent sources say about them. Or, to out it bluntly: this is not your Facebook page. {reply to| GirthSummit}} Thank you again for your reply. I appreciate the feedback and how this works a bit better now and to not write with an inward looking voice. People often ask about our organisation wiki page and for a long time I didn’t even know we had one! I’d be happy to try to recreate the page using external references and asking some of the partners of the organisation to perhaps contribute (or help provide references) to develop third party independent content. For example, our local council and national community radio governing body. Details of the organisation’s service area and licence reference information would only be known internally and licensing bodies. I got a bit confused how the sport league somehow contributed to the page but no other info was captured. Would it be possible to retrieve the wording so I can recreate some of it on our website because I think it read well but by now I forgot what I wrote! I think this would be a good solution if it was possible. I do thank you for your guidance and patience with all this. Wrightceee1990 (talk) 06:20, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see you're discussing the article on its talk page with another administrator. The content you are looking for is still viewable in the article's history - be aware though that when you published he here, you irrevocably released it under a CC license. @GirthSummit: Hi, Yes one of you is talking through my profile and one of you is talking through the article. At the end of the day, the suggestion seems to be re-writing part of the article as an edit request which I am happy to do, but ultimately I would like to access the Wikipedia article for cited reference editing after that. To be unable to edit and correct my errors without direct access to do so seems a bit circular to me. I really just want to do the right thing by the Wikipedia group. I haven’t been acting to generate trouble and I genuinely want to be given the opportunity to learn from this.Wrightceee1990 (talk) 22:49, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You've got a conflict of interest with the article - you shouldn't be editing it directly, as the guidelines make clear, it's better that someone else review what you want to add. Best Girth Summit (blether) 08:02, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
