miss-filed NRHP docs and/or photos

[edit]
  • Western Bohemian Fraternal Union Hall of Meadowlands, Minnesota, NRHP-listed with refnum 86002123 has NRHP nomination document filed under that refnum. But photos switched with unrelated SS William A. Irvin, of Wisconsin, NRHP-listed with refnum 89000858.
    • Western Bohemian's info is at Liz Holum (December 1984). "National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: Western Bohemian Fraternal Union Hall / The National Hall of Meadowlands". National Park Service. Retrieved March 29, 2018. and five photos (photos filed under wrong reference number, switched with photos for a different NRHP-listed site).
    • SS William A. Irvin's info is at "National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: SS William A. Irvin". National Park Service. Retrieved March 29, 2018. and 10 photos (photos filed under wrong reference number, switched with photos for another site).

Listing status

[edit]
  • Martin Weber House is a property that does not show up as NRHP-listed in "who has" but it has an NRHP infobox and is included in NRHP list for Ramsay County, MN. Its refnum is 83004867 as of January 11, 1983. In NRHP infobox generator, it shows as having status DR, which stands for "Date received/pending nomination". Also, i note that the MPS which the NRHP infobox generator shows for it, the West Seventh Street Early Limestone Houses TR, does not show up in the wp:MPS list. I wonder if the TR was not approved, and the house was not NRHP-listed, or what. doncram (talk) 21:50, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Similarly for Anthony Waldman House and Joseph Brings House, refnums 83004866 and 83004868, in same MPS and also showing in NRIS as not approved, noted by Elkman. doncram (talk) 22:50, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Property names

[edit]
submitted in batch01:08, reported by NRHP_RT to be fixing in NRIS as of 3/4/2009. doncram (talk) 23:23, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
batch03:48 Savio is wrong, should be Savior or perhaps a longer phrase that was cut off.
The correct name of the church is Our Saviour. Webster's dropping of the u and spell check notwithstanding, the Episcopal Church in the US retains the u spelling as probably most large US denominations so. clariosophic (talk) 11:57, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are a series of NRHP listings relating to Minnesota MPS "Minnesota State Park CCC/WPA/Rustic Style MPS" (1989 document available at http://www.nr.nps.gov/multiples/64500285.pdf ) where the NRIS name of each property is "<Name of park> (CCC)/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources" or a variant with "Historic District" at the end of the name. Noted by Polaron.

It is not clear to me yet whether the names are correct or incorrect. If the entire park is NRHP-listed, then the names seem incorrect and the "CCC/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources" phrase should be dropped from the NRIS names. If just a CCC-related area within a larger park is NRHP-listed, then the names seem fine to me. I have not obtained or checked the NRHP nomination documents for any one of these. The cases are:

  1. 89001657 Blue Mounds State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Luverne, MN
  2. 89001671 Buffalo River State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Glyndon, MN
  3. 89001658 Flandrau State Park CCC/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources New Ulm, MN
  4. 89001668 Fort Ridgely State Park CCC/Rustic Style Historic Resources New Ulm, MN
  5. 89001672 Gooseberry Falls State Park CCC/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Two Harbors, MN
  6. 89001674 Lake Bemidji State Park CCC/NYA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Bemidji, MN
  7. 89001659 Lake Bronson State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Lake Bronson, MN
  8. 89001655 Lindbergh, Charles A., State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Little Falls, MN
  9. 89001663 Minneopa State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Mankato, MN
  10. 89001666 Monson Lake State Park CCC/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Sunburg, MN
  11. 89001667 Old Mill State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Argyle, MN
  12. 89001670 Scenic State Park CCC/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Bigfork, MN
  13. 89001661 Whitewater State Park CCC/WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources Elba, MN
So for all of these perhaps they should all be renamed, but it may depend on actual relationship of resources area to park as a whole. doncram (talk) 15:40, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just noting that in all cases, there are already articles at the simpler, common name. Except for Gooseberry Falls, all articles already have the NRHP infobox. In all cases, the park article is the one linked to from the NRHP lists. --Polaron | Talk 15:48, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
These listings specifically refer to the buildings and structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and/or Works Progress Administration in the 1933-1942 timeframe. As far as I can tell, these listings don't include the entire state park. Some of the state parks involved have other historic resources listed separately. For example, Charles A. Lindbergh State Park includes park facilities built by the WPA, which are listed under a Multiple Property Submission (see this MPS document), but it also includes the Charles A. Lindbergh House, which itself is a National Historic Landmark. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 14:37, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I just reviewed the Old Mill State Park and replaced a 406 acre area (perhaps the area of the whole park) that had been put into its NRHP infobox, by the 25 acre correct area for the historic district stated in NRIS and in a MNHS source. I presume that others in this series similarly have an HD smaller than the park, which means there would be no need to suggest changing the NRHP names here, unlike for a MPS series in Massachusetts relating to Boston area parkways.
Aside: I note also that an alternate name given in the "Old Mill State Park WPA/Rustic Style Historic Resources" NRHP listing is "Old Mill State Park". This is one more example for me showing that the alternate name field is casual, often like a mere "See also" indicator, and it should not be interpreted as proof that the NRHP listing is defined by that. doncram (talk) 18:34, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Address restricted when it should not be

[edit]
  • William F. Bruell House (built 1902), is a Queen Anne-style house in Redfield, South Dakota designed by Sedgwick & Saxton (per Swisher, Kaija (24 January 2014). "Bruell house". Black Hills Pioneer. Retrieved 25 March 2018.). In NRIS it is "Address Restricted" and consistent with that its NRHP nomination doc and photos are not available online at NPS. However, it seems inappropriate to restrict address of a house. If there is something confidential in the NRHP document, that should be redacted, but surely the street address and location of a Queen Anne house should be disclosed. --Doncram (talk) 04:31, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Demolished but still listed

[edit]

There is good information at Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in Minnesota about status of numerous demolished-but-still-NRHP-listed and other Minnesota properties, provided mostly by editor McGhiever, but also including info from other on-the-ground reporters. Much, but perhaps not all, of that info is reflected in the following:
