What's the origin of the sound file on the above-captioned article? Remembering you said you were musically inclined, I'm tempted to think you might have sung it...(that and the muted metronome in the background tells me it's isn't something I'll find in a store). If it is you...a truly amazing voice. —ExplorerCDT 06:46, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to re-record. I notice it only because I've analyzed so many recordings, I actually pick up background sounds before I actually get to listen to the performer. (Long story as to why) I'd bet if you asked 10 people, all 10 wouldn't notice it. —ExplorerCDT 07:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming Articles

Is it possible to rename an article, and if so, how do you do it? LovePatsyCline 20:28, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is getting farcical: I've replied and I'll send a duplicate via Wikipedia e-mail. Moreschi Deletion! 18:30, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Which one did you get, was it the one I sent via your userpage? I sent a copy of that to myself, which I got straight away. BTW, if you sent me a response I'm not seeing it. Possibly via-userpage Wikipedia e-mail is working better. Cheers, Moreschi Deletion! 18:58, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More. If it doesn't work I'll send a duplicate via the wiki-mail. Cheers, Moreschi Deletion! 15:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fjuckby

Thanks for adding the pronunciation to the article. I cannot figure out how to play the file, so I don't know whether it is correct. Perhaps someone else will be able to confirm it. -- Jreferee 19:00, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The present pronunciation sounds like "Fuke bee" but I figured it would sound like "Fuck by." The article received DYK status and any pronunciation is better than none (makes the article look more like the Stockholm article). Again, thanks for adding the pronunciation to the article. -- Jreferee 19:30, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't heard 'Fjuckby' said by a native speaker. The article was on the list of potential DYK articles and not going to make DYK status since it was a stub. It seemed an interesting topic so I took some time to expand the article to meet DYK requirements. The article is listed with WikiProject Sweden, so if the pronunciation is off, they may catch it. -- Jreferee 19:39, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit War at Joyce Kilmer

Yeah, it's pretty nice when that happens :) Did you see the stuff on Tarquinia Molza recently, though? I wasn't quite sure what stance to take on that one, especially since I didn't still have all the sources on me. You have a great weekend too! I'm out of town tomorrow. Hi. You wrote: "They seem to have their own wiki, they can easily move this article there." What are you referring to? MUGSS? I don't see an article, and if I did, I would suggest that it be deleted, as I don't think student theatre groups should have their own articles. I would think, however, that it is appropriate to note in the University of Manchester article that they have a G&S Society.... What do you think about that? Best regards, -- Ssilvers 20:47, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. I assumed that by "wiki" you meant a Wikipedia article. -- Ssilvers 04:11, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sourced edits repeatedly removed without good reason

Hello, I've been editing for a short time and already I'm involved in what looks like becoming a continuing edit war with anonymous people who keep removing material of mine that is properly sourced - at first on the pretext that the subject of my material hadn't been shown to exist, which I have since refuted with independent evidence. See my last few posts on the National anarchism Talk page; since I wrote those it's happened again, only this time without even the pretence of an explanation. I may have overreacted when I called it vandalism, I'm not sure, but the edits are plainly irrational and the first ones were malicious since the edit summary justified them by assuming bad intentions on my part. I wonder if you can advise me on how to proceed if it keeps on recurring? Please reply on my user talk page. Thanks. Gnostrat 17:58, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note to say that the material that was being vandalised (if I'm justified in using that term) has now been moved over to another article and hopefully this will resolve the problem. If it doesn't, I might still need that advice. Thanks for your welcome, by the way. Gnostrat 15:12, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ernest Hilbert

Hi Makemi. I just added a page for poet and librettist Ernest Hilbert, yesterday. Immediately afterward, a friend of his edited it to add a (humorously) untrue story about Ernie and Iris Murdoch. But shortly after that, you deleted the untrue story. I wanted to thank you for your vigilance, but also to ask you how you came upon it? Are you a friend of Ernie Hilbert's? Or was it some kind of coincidence? Just trying to learn about the vagaries of Wikipedia editing. Thanks. QuizzicalBee 19:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Second Booke of Songes

Hi Makemi. I thought I'd let you know I just created a page for The Second Booke of Songes or Ayres by John Dowland to start indexing the songs within that publication and list the songs so that people can continue the work we've done with I saw my Lady weep and Flow my tears and carry this over into the 20 or so other songs contained in The Second Booke. Anyway just thouth I'd let you know. Now I guess I should create my user page. Talk to you later. --Norman D Wakefield 04:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for editing the formating. I'll be adding more content later this week. Norman D Wakefield 06:41, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Impressive stuff, it would be my pleasure. Thanks for the heads up. BTW, have you checked out WP:WIAGA as of late? Cheers, Moreschi Deletion! 08:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bollocks

Hey, endorsing obvious prods is when you get to be creative, right? Ah, that essay is fantastic. Anyway, would you mind taking the semi-protection off my userpage? The conversation on a forum that I suspect accidentally kicked off the thing has ended, so I think it'll be O.K. Cheers, Moreschi Deletion!

Hmmm. I suppose there is that. That we aren't meant to have too much fun is basically what Wikipedia:Courtesy blanking is all about: it's back-up for those who come here, post vanity, and then make colossal asses of themselves at AfD - it's all right, dear, Jimbo'll blank it for you so it doesn't show up on Google. I remember getting cheesed off about that once when an AfD had been blanked: an AfD in which several wikieditors had put considerable time and effort into uncovering a pretty darn clever hoax. Anyway, someone mailed me a copy of this article, which contained the most outrageous vanity you'll ever see, before it got deleted, so that was O.K. I'll go and make up for it. Thanks for the unprotection. Cheers, Moreschi Deletion! 18:27, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Groan. These forums again - anyway, would you mind putting the semiprotection back on my userpage? I don't suppose this is the last of the silliness. Sorry to be a pain. Cheers, Moreschi Request a recording? 20:17, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Well, with a bit of luck - fingers crossed touching wood - , in a week I'll be able to attend to this protection business myself:) Cheers, Moreschi Request a recording? 20:22, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thank you for your support in my recent RfA. I think valid criticisms were raised in areas that I need to work on, so I've withdrawn my name. I intend to work on addressing the concerns that were raised, and think I need to work contributing without allowing myself to become as stressed as I have been at times, which did result in some inappropriate behavior. Perhaps I may re-explore adminship at some point in the future, but it's a little early to consider that. Again, thank you. Fan-1967 21:36, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Return from Wikibreak, etc.

Hey, greetings! I looked at the edit you mentioned: all appears ok to me. I think the anon's explanation of the development of the modes from the hexachords, and so forth, is pretty accurate. Antandrus (talk) 00:27, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

definition deletion

Hi Makemi, I was in the process of adding a definition of Office Business Applications today when the page was deleted by you with the comment (advert). Can you elaborate why you took that action and what is needed to meet review requirements? Thank you for your comments. I am a new Wikipedia contributor. I have a Ph.D. in English literature. My website is www.carmenbutcher.com. I have published a few books in Old English, on Benedict of Nursia, on medieval women mystics, and in linguistics. I have published with Cambridge University Press, Heinle Thomson, Mercer University, and Paraclete Press, for example. I cut the bibliographies and tried to make my articles more appealing to a general audience. Thanks for the suggestions! I'm still learning how to do this! Best wishes, Carmen Butcher

The user has posted an unblock request and looking into the basics it does seem that there might be something in the article they wrote rather than it just being an attack. Since I haven't looked too deeply at the subject, nor am I aware of any other background on the matter, can you take a look in on their talk page, comment and/or unblock as appropriate. --pgk 10:38, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stop Vandalizing!

You just deleted a bunch of content from the Cyndi Lauper page. I worked very hard on what you tried to get rid of. If I see anymore of this you will be reported to Wikipedia! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chad427 (talkcontribs) 19:20, 10 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I removed redlinks. The image was deleted by someone else. Feel free to report me to whomever you wish to. Mak (talk) 19:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not gonna report you but I was pissed at the time because I spent a long time making the pages that were in fact in existence but half of them turned to red links afterwards I linked it back to the discography page, where all the links are there. However if you do something like this again I will report you.

I really am not sure what you think I've done. You might want to check the diff again. Mak (talk) 02:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well your edit made that happen all the links were blue and there until your revision.

Thanks so much and congratulations on achieving our first featured sound. Here's a priceless antique in gratitude (still operational). Oh, and for your beautiful vocal performance you also get the "Voice of Wikipedia" commemorative lithograph of Swedish soprano Jenny Lind at Castle Clinton (chosen for the very idiosyncratic reason that I don't know much about music but am obsessed with New York City history).--Pharos 01:27, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
