July 2018

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. @PlyrStar93: Can you please help me as I am unable to move the page as I am being told by the software used by Wikipedia that allows pages to be moved that 'The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists' which is true as Mayaro–Rio Claro is being currently used as a Redirect to Rio Claro–Mayaro. Recent edits to Jamaica COVID-19 statistics

I pray this finds you well when you read this, Joshua.

Firstly, I want to thank you for your recent amendments to the page above mentioned. I have been editing the pages; albeit, I don't always sign in. I wanted to clarify that 20 patients with the COVID-19 virus have died in Jamaica. Of these 20 deaths, 19 were determined to directly caused by the virus and the other was labelled coincidental - meaning the patient had the virus but the cause of death was determined to be something else. Seeing as the data bar does not allow for editors to make that distinction (or, the fact that the Jamaican government has since June been repatriating some of the foreign nationals infected), I had taken the decision to count the coincidental death in the medical chart template and make the distinctions in the infobox and the now weekly reportings in the sections below.

I will be seeking additional advise on how best to deal with these situations in kind; but, until then and/or until I have received further guidance as to how to handle reporting these issues, I shall continue reporting them as I have done thus far - in effect, reversing your amendment. Any assistance you - and the community - may lend would be greatly appreciated. I would especially like assistance with uploading pictures and other media as those are not exactly my forte. I thank you in advance.

Problem with your custom signature

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
