Eugen Rochko (* 1992 or 1993,[1] Russian: Jewgeni Rotschko.[2]) is a German software developer known as the original developer of the distributed microblogging service Mastodon.

Life
Rochko was born a Jewish family in Russia[3] and came to Germany at the age of eleven[4] and attended the grammar school in Jena. In Jena he was active on networks such as MySpace, schülerVZ, Facebook, Twitter and ICQ.[5][6]
In early 2016, Rochko started working on the Mastodon software. He published it in early October 2016 after completing his computer science studies at the University of Jena.[1] He later implemented the ActivityPub protocol for Mastodon.[5]
