Full Metal Jacket (etc.)

Hi. I came across this edit you made. I don't follow film criticism and I'm not familiar with that template, but I took a look at the docs for {{metacritic film}} and it seems to me that your change is not in line the usage info there. This is just a heads-up -- I may be confused, but I thought I ought to mention it here in case I'm not. Cheers, Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 12:58, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

@Wtmitchell Hello, I am unclear how it is not inline with the usage of the template. The link remained the same and I just removed the id from the template params. It now just gets the property from wikidata. This is more of a cosmetic change but allows for the data to be stored in once place not 2 and since it is a static external link it isn't going to be changing any time soon. The article itself hasn't changed at all apart from an "edit at wikidata" icon next to the template. Terasail[✉️] 13:03, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for looking at this. I looked again after seeing your response and it looks like I misread the template docs. Sorry abut the apparent false alarm. Cheers, Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 16:58, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
@WtmitchellNo problem, I did make a lot of edits. No issues checking that the edits are not doing something they shouldn't be. Terasail[✉️] 17:55, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Reverted Edit

Hello,

I was just wondering why my edit for Main Hoon Na was reverted? I changed the translation of the movie title from Hindi to English to the correct translation.

Thanks. 174.0.242.93 (talk) 03:09, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

@User:Pinkwafflecakes "I am there" is the long standing translation of the movie title. You put the title into a translator and it comes up with "I am not". Neither of which you changed it to. Although I am not great at translations, it just seems to be incorrect. It is not a major thing and I am not particularly bothered what the translation is. It just seemed wrong to me. We will be doing them every other month, so there's none for May, but I look forward to seeing you sign up for the June edition. The drive's target was to improve Wikipedia's coverage of financial markets. Awards were given to those who participated.

June Drive topic for discussion: We're currently brainstorming topics for our June Content-creation Drive. Join the discussion here.

Content work: Two articles in our purview have received DYK nominations. Real Estate Bank of Arkansas was created and nominated by Hog Farm and Ranchlander National Bank was created and nominated by Sammi Brie. They're currently running in the WikiCup, so good luck to them! UBS has been nominated for a Good article reassessment. If you wish to help, leave comments in the nomination.

@Dj121e121 Ah, I looked again and it appears I was wrong. I apologise. I was looking at a specific diff (Special:Diff/1086985245) and it appeared that you had just removed a large portion of the infobox for no reason. Terasail[✉️] 16:30, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Setting up participants list

Hi Terasail, what I want for the participants list is a blank list identical to the one created for the last drive. If there is a way to set up such a page using my template editor capability I would be grateful for any help. (t · c) buidhe 14:28, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

@Buidhe Hello, I have done this for you so that you can see the steps for the future, this is how to do it:
  1. First you need to create the page with the wikitext content shown at Special:PermanentLink/1089564169.
  2. Simply open the page information which should be on the sidebar (See: Help:Page information).
  3. Find "Page content model" in the "Basic information" section and it should show as "wikitext (change)" if you have WP:TPE.
  4. Select the change (it should be a link) then use the dropdown to select "MassMessageListContent" as the new pagecontent model.
The page should now be a MMS list, if you have problems with this in the future then just message me here or elsewhere and I will try to assist you. Thanks, Terasail[✉️] 14:38, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
@Buidhe I just realised I did it the hard way here, you can ignore step 1 if you are creating a new page, just follow from step 2 and it will automatically create the page... Terasail[✉️] 14:41, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks so much for your help! (t · c) buidhe 15:59, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Edit Request Tool SyntaxError

Uncaught SyntaxError: Identifier 'pageName' has already been declared (at index.php?title=User:Terasail/Edit_Request_Tool.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript:1:1)

Hello friend. Was wondering if you might be willing to wrap your entire script in a function, so as to get your variables out of the global namespace. I'm getting a console error, it must be clashing with another script that also has pageName in the global namespace. You can probably reproduce the error by visiting WT:AFC, in particular revision 1097578305. Anyway, the way I get around this in my user scripts is I wrap all my code in

$(async function() {
    // your code here
}

Hope that helps. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 14:35, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

@Novem Linguae  Done, this should no longer cause any issues. Terasail[✉️] 17:41, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
I just renamed the variable I don't plan on wrapping the entire code just to stop this sort of thing. Since I don't have many global variables to begin with. Terasail[✉️] 17:43, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Edit request tool

I have a quick question about a possible feature. Is it possible to grab the number of page watchers and display it in the edit request tool interface, or will that still require me to go to the history and pageviews tool? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:29, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Holy crap, I just noticed that's already in the tool. Excellent. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:49, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish Yeah, I just added it, with a counter for how many of those watchers recently viewed the page. I broke the script when trying to upload the changes but it should work properly now. I have a script that already uses the same counter so it wasn't too difficult. Thanks for the suggestion, Terasail[✉️] 14:55, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
Ah, that's likely why the script wasn't working when I was initially trying to close the request on Talk:Liz Cheney. I close a lot of edit requests, so I'll likely have a lot more input, such as add an option to choose to go to the diff of the closing, the talk page section you responded in, or back to the AnomieBOT table for the type of request closed. Also, an ability to add the page to your watchlist for a certain amount of time based on the response you would use would be helpful. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:04, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
Yeah the watchlist thing is already on my to-do list, I just haven't got round to it but I have made space on purpose to the left of the cancel button for it. The others are good ideas for customizability. Terasail[✉️] 15:11, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
I see the watchlist thing is implemented now, is there a way you can adjust the number of days from the standard, or is it locked in? Thanks for the great work. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:48, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish Sure it's all custom I just chose to replicate the standard choices that are available but I could replace 3/6 months with 1/3 days or something. Terasail[✉️] 19:03, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, I think 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, permanent would be good. If I'm requesting sources or clarification, I think three days is a reasonable amount of time to wait before removing it from my already crowded watchlist. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:05, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish  Done I made this change to 1/3 days. Terasail[✉️] 19:07, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you kindly. I look forward to answering thousands of requests with your tool. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:10, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
