Qualifications for the commission?

Project curvepoint nominated themselves (diff), but their nomination was removed by @Xaosflux (diff) with the comment does not meet electom com eligibility requirements from WP:ACERULES. That led me to try and figure out exactly what the eligibility requirements are, which got unexpectedly interesting. As far as I can tell, the requirements are Open to anyone who is over 18, meets Foundation's Access to nonpublic personal data policy, and otherwise be eligible to vote.. The "otherwise eligible to vote" comes from WP:ACE2023#Election timeline:

An editor is eligible to vote who:
(i) has registered an account before 00:00, 1 October 2023
(ii) has made at least 150 mainspace edits before 00:00, 1 November 2023
(iii) has made at least 10 live edits (in any namespace) in the one year prior to 00:00, 1 November 2023 and,
(iv) is not blocked from the English Wikipedia at the time of their vote.

the problem being (ii) and (iii) which have a 1 November 2023 deadline. That's fine for ACE, but make no sense for the commission elections, which will be over by then. Maybe this is something last year's commission (@AmandaNP, @Mz7, @Cyberpower678) needs to clarify? You guys thought you could go home already? And obviously, fixed for ACE2024. Speaking for me alone, not on behalf of last year's commission, the November 1 2023 deadline would be superseded by the nomination deadline for electcom since you can't really nominate yourself afterwards. As such should this user manage to make 150 mainspace edits before tomorrow, they would be eligible to put their name in again. —CYBERPOWER (Around) 14:32, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add that the cutoff, IMO, is there to begin with to ensure that sufficient time exists to produce, and vet, the SecurePoll voter eligibility lists since those must be generated and then fed into SecurePoll, as well as the MassMessage lists, without any last minute eligibilities popping up in the process. That is less of a concern when dealing with ELECTCOM nominations.—CYBERPOWER (Around) 14:47, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On that note, I removed another ineligible candidate from the list. Any coordinator/former ELECTCOM may revert me on this. —CYBERPOWER (Around) 14:44, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And I removed another one. I wonder why there are suddenly so many new users flocking to nominate themselves now. —CYBERPOWER (Around) 15:01, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's on the WLN? — xaosflux Talk 15:26, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My brain be fried today. lol—CYBERPOWER (Around)CYBERPOWER (Around) 15:44, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Like Xaosflux mentions, probably the effect of WLN (although its weird that there have been two in short order; if it was purely the WLN I would have expected them to be appear earlier). I also canvassed AN and VPM two days ago, but I would have expected those to have fallen away by now. I wonder if someone has posted about this somewhere on the internet -- Asartea Talk | Contribs 15:43, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This might be worth bringing up at ACERFC2024, but TBH I suspect that if we need to split hairs about whether or not a candidate has made 150 mainspace edits within any time frame their chances of actually getting elected aren't great. -- Asartea Talk | Contribs 14:55, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a proposal for next year at Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment/Arbitration Committee Elections December 2024, basically changing the requirements to extended confirmed editors over 18 who meet the access to non-public data requirement. Thryduulf (talk) 17:55, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@RoySmith my delisting was under the has registered an account before 00:00, 1 October 2023 criteria, which was not met for that user. Checking in to make sure you don't object to that? — xaosflux Talk 15:25, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My original post was confusing in that respect, for which I apologize. I agree that Project curvepoint is ineligible for the reason you stated. I only mentioned them because that's what got me digging. RoySmith (talk) 15:32, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Closure review note

Hi everyone. Just wanted to note that I have asked Frostly to reconsider the closure in this RfC (permalink). Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 06:58, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Illusion Flame: good to see you on the coordinators list still, there is usually work to do for ACE outside of the commission. For example, once nominations come in getting the candidate guide updated for each entry. — xaosflux Talk 00:00, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux thank you! I can definitely assist with the candidates guide when the time comes. In the meantime, if there is anything I can do to assist the commissioners/election, please do let me know. Thanks! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 00:06, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mimosas

@Xaosflux @Cyberpower678 It has come to my attention that while I got a mop when I became an admin, a fez when I became an SPI clerk, and a cardigan when I became a functionary, the three of us are apparently now entitled to mimosas. I'll take mine with prosecco and an orange slice for garnish, thank you. Who do I see about getting that sent up to my room? RoySmith (talk) 23:17, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Contact the WMF Department of Luxury services and have them issue the obligatory budget of 500k, to pay for the hotel suites, jacuzzi, and concierge services for commissioners. —CYBERPOWER (Around) 23:42, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Surely we can get our cocktails in a a branded tumbler? — xaosflux Talk 23:55, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
$24.00??? You need to get the WMF to send the commissioners some complementary Wikipedia tumblers. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 00:07, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please expect your complimentary tumblers soon. Joe Sutherland (WMF) (talk) 22:32, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
