Sadowski's 3RR

Thanks for leaving the warning. Is there any chance you could put Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham back to where it was before Sadowski started his silliness? --Biker Biker (talk) 06:40, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

He just deleted all the content on Cadillac Fleetwood again, despite your warning. --Biker Biker (talk) 06:45, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

He's blocked for now, I'm going to leave the edit checking for now because i'm not 100% awake right now. I'll also comment in the morning 'cause I got an email from him. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 06:48, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
OK. In that case I won't touch Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham as I will trip 3RR. As you can see I have acted in good faith by taking this straight to WP:RPP in anticipation of his likely actions. Thanks for blocking him. --Biker Biker (talk) 06:52, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
 Already done -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 07:51, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

When Sadowski's block expires in a few hours time then I'm betting he will be right back at the edit warring on the two articles above. If you are around would you mind keeping an eye open and acting accordingly? --Biker Biker (talk) 21:23, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

I'll try, if your still around, feel free to ping me. I would normally say yes, but I have a midterm tomorrow. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 03:31, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Poop patrol

User:DeltaQuad/Priority I went ahead and rescued the old stuff.

Done Let me know what changes I could make and i'll see what I can do. (might even rewrite the code, not sure) -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 13:42, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, the most useful possible change would be to ignore wikilinks when checking for safe phrases. Currently the code is thrown by them - so for Tittle for example most of the pages that laboriously went into the safe pages list were ones which mentioned Y.A. Tittle, but as they were wikilinked they all had to be added as safe pages. There are some queries that I can't run because it would be too time consuming without this. For example forth is often a typo for fourth but there are so many articles linking to Forth Rail Bridge and Firth of Forth that it isn't feasible. P.S. I'm ready for another run. Future timestamp for when i can get to this. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 23:15, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I don't think that either of us in on Wiki much at present, but if you do have a moment I'd appreciate a bot run, even if without the change we discussed. Thanks ϢereSpielChequers 12:04, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

I'll take a look tomorrow, still gotta get my toolserver key from my old fried laptop's HDD. It will be run without the new code. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 07:52, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Re the above modification, actually the bot goes directly to the MediaWiki API, or aka a part of Wikipedia's server for the actual searching, therefore is not modifiable code right of the bat. That being said I have found it interesting that it's like using the search box right here on every page of Wikipedia and is subject to some search engine rules. This page specifically outlines in the "Avoiding automatic direction to page" section says:
  • Avoiding automatic direction to page – Adding a tilde (~) at the beginning of a search word forces a search for a word or phrase across Wikipedia rather than being directed or redirected automatically to an article or disambiguation page. For example, ~similiar will find pages with the misspelling, instead of being redirected to Similarity. ~"Credit card"/~Credit card will not invoke the "Credit card" article, but will list all articles containing the phrase "credit card"/the words "credit" and "card". In most cases this is equivalent to entering the search term without tilde, but clicking on the "containing" option instead of going to the article.
I think that would easily resolve your issue and i'm holding off on the run so you can see if you would like to use that. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 04:42, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
If I understand that it could be the answer. Certainly sounds worth trying. ϢereSpielChequers 17:08, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Check this out

Look at this fresh sockpuppetry case. I can see why you closed my other one.--1966batfan (talk) 00:43, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) The two IP's are in the same geographical location. I believe it is worth considering the possibility that this may is a dynamic IP address, and not an intentional socking attempt. Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 20:16, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

I have taken the liberty of adding a bit to the "Account Created" template about setting an email address in the preferences, to allow password reset (and to send/receive email through Wikipedia).

I think this will save some of the "I've forgotten my password" queries on the list!

If you feel it is inappropriate, feel free to remove it - likewise, feel free to reword it as you see fit!

Regards, PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:43, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Hey Steve! Buddy, long time it has been, you need to stop by and we need to catch up! I do strongly encourage editing to the list, but in this case since we have to have an email for them to get their password (without us asking for a password), so umm they don't need to set it a second time. Otherwise, I love the addition ;) -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 09:29, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
Unless it's been changed in the last few months, signing up through the list and us creating the user account does *not* set the email address in their preferences. I remember looking into this a year or so ago and finding that out. Of course, I could be wrong in that - I make the odd mistake you know! -- PhantomSteve.alt/talk\[alternative account of Phantomsteve] 21:30, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
Interesting, i'll test it somewhere where I have MediaWiki installed and get back to you because I didn't know that. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 07:14, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Admin's Barnstar
For responding to at least 15 requests on unblock-en-l during the past week - despite the fact you're supposed to be on wikibreak :-P - I award you, as promised, an Admin's Barnstar! Thanks for the help. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:50, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
That should make him feel appropriately guilty for not being an admin at the moment. Also guilty for taking a Wikibreak. Bad, bad DQ! Serves him right for being a pillar of the community </ironic mode>. Thanks for what you do. EdJohnston (talk) 17:57, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Hersfold, btw, stop by and find me one of these nights if i`m around. @Ed Thanks for the laugh! -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 12:05, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

ArbCom election 2011

Thanks for nominating yourself and welcome to the election. You've passed out enough of these to know what this message was supposed to say. Everything seems fine. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 14:09, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Can you also look over your row on the table on the Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee_Elections_December_2011/Candidates/Guide? Feel free to correct any mistakes or to fill in any missing information. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 14:14, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Autopatrolled status

{{User:DeltaQuad/talkdone}} I noticed you didn't get that readded when you resigned your bit -- you should probably ask for it. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:38, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Ahh yes, because of my SPI tagging. Thanks for the notice :) -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 21:03, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Yep, that was where I spotted it. :-) --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 21:15, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Concerning the Arbitration Committee Elections

{{User:DeltaQuad/talkdone}} DeltaQuad,

As a candidate for the Arbitration Committee elections, please be aware that your name has been entered into the SecurePoll ballot and can no longer be removed barring the most dire of emergencies and direct manipulation of the database. While you may still withdraw from the election, your name will not be removed from the ballot, but only struck through. If you have any further questions on the process, feel free to contact myself, the other election administrators, or the election coordinators. --Tznkai (talk), 2011 Arbitration Committee Election Administrator. 21:18, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Unanswered question

{{User:DeltaQuad/talkdone}} Wikipedia_talk:Arbitration_Committee_Elections_December_2011/Candidates/DeltaQuad – I've noticed that you haven't answered this question yet. That page is transcluded on Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee_Elections_December_2011/Candidates/Discussion, so it's highly visible to any voter who navigates there via the links on the Special:SecurePoll page. If you don't want to respond, then you're free to do so. I'm letting you know since the voting has begun. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 02:39, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Darn I didn`t see that, thanks for the heads up. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 02:43, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 03:00, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Taking a break

{{User:DeltaQuad/talkdone}} Hi DQ. I'm not being picky (really), but perhaps you'd like to consider removing the icons and UBX from your up & tp while you are taking a break just to avoid any confusion. Take care :) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:41, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Made this edit, but i'm not sure what your referring to for my talkpage, I don't see anything but the large notice at the top saying i'm not. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 05:20, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Ratel

{{User:DeltaQuad/talkdone}} I noticed this edit of yours. What checkuser is currently looking at this? The case seems to have come to a dead stall.—Kww(talk) 02:55, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

As I said, it was only a procedural noting of the above note by Chase me ("I'm looking into this at the moment. The Cavalry (Message me) 5:29 pm, 22 November 2011, last Tuesday (6 days ago) (UTC−5)"). I could have taken it wrong though, but it sounded to me Like Chase me was looking into it. But i'll see if it's actually being looked into tomorrow. -- DQ(t) [[Special:Emai(e) 06:34, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
