Fair Use Images

[edit]

I have removed an image that is used under fair use on Wikipedia from User:Asteraki/Asteraki. Per the WP:FU policy, fair use images cannot be used outside of article namespace. Please review all other images you have on this page and your user page and remove any that are used under fair use. Thank you. --MECUtalk 19:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage images

[edit]

Hi Asteraki, you need to please remove the following images from your user page:

XANTHOS.jpg will soon be deleted as unsourced and of unknown copyright status unless you provide a source on the image page. The other two are "fair-use" images and mustn't be used in userspace. Thank you, Fut.Perf. 09:44, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made some changes in your userpage per the above. I replaced the first two pictures with similar non-free-use ones, but I deleted Xanthos. Check fixing Image:XANTHOS.jpg copyright status please (and only then re-add it). NikoSilver 11:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Loutrochori

[edit]

Γειά σου, Αστεράκι. You reverted all of my changes to the Loutrochori article with no explanation. Could you please explain? In particular, you restored the peculiar claim that Μπάνια is an ancient Greek and ancient Macedonian name without responding on Talk:Loutrochori, Pella. You also restored many phrases which simply aren't good English. Could you please be more careful in your edits? About the "Red Water" external link which you restored, this seems to be a purely commerical link and I don't think it belongs in WP; why do you think it does? Thanks, --Macrakis 18:03, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Country data FYROM

[edit]

Χαιρετίσματα, sys < in 13:23, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you erase my notes here?!

[edit]

It seems that you don't want to read any argument against your theses?! - Jackanapes 09:29, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The erased discussion:

== The ethnic origin of Saints Cyril and Methodius ==

The article about Saiхts Cyril and Methodius is heavily affected by nationalist POV. It contains information about pro-Greek tradition, all non-Greek scientific theses and historical records are systematically erased. Excuse me, but this article violates even the basic principle of paralel explanations of all existing points of view when there are unresolved disputes. So, please, don't put disputed information about disputed ethnicity in the article about Saints Cyril and Methodius Day. Best wishes, Jackanapes 17:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I already told you, all other neutral ponts of view and, what is more, all historical records, which don't support Greek view, are systematically erased in the article about Saints Cyril and Methodius. The problem is quite perplexed because there are no direct proofs about their ethnicity in contemporary texts or texts, created undoubtedly shortly after deaths of two brothers, but only circumstantial evidences. In some probably late passionals there are statements about Bulgarian origin, but they are also erased from Greek "patriots". Еven the Disputed tag is systematically erased. The article is product of nationalist way of thinking and it isn't in accordance with the principles of Wikipedia.

The article about Saints Cyril and Methodius Day concerns problems about secular celebration of this day, not about the biography of two brothers and therefore the addition is irrelevant. So, please, stop your edit war in the article about Saints Cyril and Methodius Day. By the way, don't force me to write a paragraph about the antigreek nature of that secular celebration in 19th century. This celebration was developed as a significant part of Bulgarian struggle against Greek attempts of assimilation and Phanariot policy of persecution of Slav books, education, script, language, consciousness... - Jackanapes 09:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excerpt from "Short passional of Constantine-Cyril", written in Slavic language, dated between 9 and 13 centuries according to different researchers, preserved in several copies, the oldest from 1439 (published in chrestomathy "Old Bulgarian Literature. Volume 4. Passionals", Publishing house "Balgarski pisatel", Sofia, 1986, page 64):

The fatherland of this our venerable father Cyril was thrice glorious and great town of Solun, in which he was born. Bulgarian by origin, he was born by pious and devout parents...

This authentic historical record is banned from several Greek editors in the article Saints Cyril and Methodius. Stop your edit war, please! - Jackanapes 10:10, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at the talk in the article Saints Cyril and Methodius Day. - Jackanapes 11:17, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Propaganda

[edit]

Asteraki, I want to assure you that I am totally against propaganda. Nevertheless, I occasionally get accused of promoting a Greek POV.

In the case of Kastoria Prefecture, mentioning Macedonians (Greek) is not necessary, it is self-understood for a Greek place that the majority of its inhabitants are ethnic Greeks. It is the non-Greek ethnic groups that have to be mentioned explicitly(if they can be shown to exist citing relevant sources).  Andreas  (T) 18:45, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arbcom case

[edit]

I've taken the whole set of Macedonia-related edit warring to the Arbitration committee. You are named as a party to the case. Please see WP:RFAR#Macedonia. Thank you, Fut.Perf. 09:59, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened, and is located here. Please add any evidence you may wish the Arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia/Evidence. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia/Workshop.

The above arbitration case has closed, and the final decision may be found here. Any uninvolved administrator may, on their own discretion, impose sanctions on any editor working on Balkans-related articles if that editor fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, the expected standards of behavior, or the normal editorial process. Discretionary sanctions imposed under the provisions of this decision may be appealed to the imposing administrator, the administrators' noticeboard, or the Committee. Hi. I found you in the category of users who can contribute in English and Portuguese. I myself am a native speaker of English, but I'm well on my way to learning Portuguese. Just check out my user page and talk page, and join in any of the discussions. To keep updated, you can even put a watch on my user page, which will automatically watch my talk page. :-) learnportuguese (talk) 15:39, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at this

[edit]

Hi, Asteraki.
There're some problematic entries in this template [2] (Template:Italian Ethnic Groups), as well as articles linking to them.
"Historical Greater Italy"? Is Wikipedia going to encourage such things? They should find better expression. "Italians outside Italy" is OK, but that "historical greater Italy" (especially that "historical") stinks on irredentism. Maybe I may sound paranoic, but we have experience with Italian irredentism here in Croatia (Italian high officials with their behaviour, regularly, every year, remind us that irredentism there has never disappeared, including recent days), and we can recognise the bad things coming (e.g., no links to Italians in Croatia, Italians in Slovenia or Italians in Greece, but to the "regional names" - in Croatia we know, it's old Italian irredentist game, evading the use the name of Croatia whenever possible. That gives me reason to find someones' good faith as questionable).
Also, some areas from Greece are mentioned in that template; it links to articles Corfiot Italians and Dodecanese Italians (the latter not yet created). Bye, Kubura (talk) 09:23, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:100 Greek drachmas.JPG)

[edit]
⚠
Thanks for uploading File:100 Greek drachmas.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Image-Karte Ellwangen in Deutschland.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Karte Ellwangen in Deutschland.png listed for deletion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Karte Ellwangen in Deutschland.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:21, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
