Preity Zinta
[edit]Hello Shshshsh. How are you? I think the article Preity Zinta is ready for the FA status. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 09:29, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Well it was ready a long time ago of course. But I fully understand why Shahid might not want to repropose it ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:02, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Dunno don't know what happened there. Anyway you;ll be pleased to know I seem to have patched things up with both editors -both said they were also in a bad mood and over reacted. It can make you feel pretty terrible when a few people react like that . Hope you are well ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
LOL I know but that's what people think from time to time. I've been pretty active on here today , created some articles on Albanian painters then an Aussie jockey from Melbourne Bill Williamson and now heres a scary creation Wikipedia:WikiProject Burkina Faso/Provincial templates. !! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh dear o my o my. It happening again lol! A newbie User:Coccyx Bloccyx sends me a "welcome to wikipedia message" and tries to tell me what it is. I provide adequate references which are clearly given on the Official Statistics site, and even go as far as to add an infobox and still he doesn't believe it. I reply and say is there some kind of joke and he replies witha WP:civil message. Man what do I do to attract these people lol!!
Anyway I may be creating some Bollywood film articles later, if there are any in particular you want started throw a rock down the volcano and I'll see what I can do. Saludos!!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 09:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I know I don't know why he did that either-his name sounds like a throat infection. Hey I'm feeling Bollywood today, I'll try to get some articles blue linked today in some of the filmographies. Such saw a Dhoom 2 interview on youtube -aahhhh I find Bipasha soooo sexy!!!! Then I saw her dancing in this dazzling green gem costume and I thought. Woww!!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh I;m not talking about Dwaipayanc, He is doing a great job with it, its just to see "potentially problematic references" brought up. I would sincerely hope by now any issues will have been sorted, so have you heard of Alain Robert? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:06, 11 April 2008 (UTC) Also did you hear that Grace Jones has appeared on the National Geographic? The world's deadliest female ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:13, 11 April 2008 (UTC) Well lets hope it can do it this time. Alain Robert is probably the craziest man on the planet. See him here. Incredible!!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:22, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

London Marathon day today. 26.3 miles!!! I admire the old people who run it to raise money for charity. A 101 year old man is running it -this is incredible I think. Yes as long as there is plenty of info available for "reliable" sites which is often the problem with many of them. I'll give you a hand every now and then if you like. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:25, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- I say go for it for FA once you finish any outstanding issues regarding phrasing you've already identified. Those are the only real concerns I can imagine, and if you want I can at least try to help on any specific matters of phrasing which come to mind either before then or once the nomination is made. John Carter (talk) 16:29, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- The subject and verb don't match particularly well in the proposal, but "The column was a success, and became one of the site's top 10 in readership" would work. John Carter (talk) 17:19, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- There the question is the phrase "on the day". If the column was read only on that single day, that phrase would be relevant. If it were posted for more than a day, then it might be problematic to focus on only the single day. I'm guessing, not knowing the subject, that it was posted on the net for more than a day, so that clause "on the day" might be reasonably removed. John Carter (talk) 17:29, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Concern on Box Office data
[edit]Once again, I think IBOS and BoxOfficeIndia references are going to be problematic. Statements such as "biggest hit of the year", or, commercial failure, can be supported with references from other sources such as newspapers. But, regarding figures (million sof rupees etc), I seriously doubt if those 2 sites would be beyond doubt. If needed, figures may need to be removed.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Sockpuppeteer?
[edit]I've no idea who is a sockpuppeteer or what personal disputes are involved here, but you shouldn't let such matters cloud the actual issue. The fact is that if historians all agree on something it can be presented as an unproblematic fact. Otherwise we'd have absurd sentences like "Many historians assert that Michelanelo was the name of an Italian artist". Paul B (talk) 13:40, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Just imagine what goes on, on pages that aren't so popular or watched. I am all for free access and contribution but I strongly believe this should be within reason with certain restrictions. Preventing IP addresses from editing for a start and a trial period for new acount holders to allow them to edit. This will neve rbe granted but this is THE most important thing that could be done to secure and improve the situation on this site. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Ahh I've just been reminiscing the 1990s. Music and TV was so much better 10-15 years ago during the Britpop era and British television in the 1990s was just brilliant around 1995 1996 was the best. it was recently voted comedically the funniest period in history. I used to watch series like Game On (BBC television), Men Behaving Badly and Hale and Pace and you know my sense of humour, well I can say that these were exceedingly funny and entertaining. The theme tune to Game On was Where I find my Heaven also used for Dumb and Dumber. In my view that track epitomised the indie music of the 1990s. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:33, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Improving Bollywood articles
[edit]Shahid, remember the idea of improving the [top] Bollywood actors' pages, which Blofeld earlier recommended? Anyways, I think we should start working on some of them with Blofeld. I know that you are busy with Preity Zinta's article and want to make it a FA. As a matter of fact, I want Kapoor's and Mukerji's articles to achieve a GA status but I was wondering if you wanted to help me with the other Bollywood pages. Even though we can't add as much detail as we did to Zinta & Kapoor's pages respectively, we can still try working on them and bringing them up to at least a B level ranking. Foremost, I think it would be a good idea to first improve the pages of the [most important and influential] actors, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan. Then, we can move on to actors like Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan & Abhishek Bachchan. As for the actresses, first and foremost Kajol, Karisma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, and later we can move to Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra. So what do you say?? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 02:47, 15 April 2008
- I totally relate the situation you're in. That is how I felt when I was in University. Don't worry, I am not in a rush, though I will start working on some articles, preferably new actors. Later, when you are free, we can start working on actors like Shahrukh, Salman, etc. Hey Shahid, I needed to ask you something. Do you know how to request a peer review?? I would like to do one for Kapoor later on... --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 16:30, 15 April 2008
- I am hoping that Kapoor's article at least reaches a GA. According to you, what needs to improve?? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 17:03, 15 April 2008
- What do you mean by "the article doesn't flow as well as before"?? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 17:24, 15 April 2008
- Oh, I see.... --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:42, 15 April 2008
- Yeah, we are allowed to do that but before we do that, we have to e-mail Wikipedia's OTRS system at "permissions@wikimedia.org", where we include the image's link and the ticket number (2008030310010794). Take a look at this. You see the thing above the file history... that will be the permission ticket from OTRS, showing that you asked OTRS to verify the image. Then, you can upload the image onto Commons and don't forget to add the "{{OTRS pending}}" tag and all of the IndiaFM licence. After the image is approved, a OTRS member will remove the "{{OTRS pending}}" tag and add the permission ticket, where he/she would include the link of your e-mail. I know it sounds complicated but if you need help just let me know. Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 17:22, 18 April 2008

Ah already some scholar has removed an entire paragraph of Parfitt's article I created. Probably better to read Sena, Yemen and check ot this article on it. It was a fascinating trail of the Israelites through the ancient world, and the fact the Lemba tribe of Zimbabwe are directly descended from the Jewish priests who fled Jerusalem on the Babylonian invasion and after living in Sena, Yemen crossed to Africa by boat and settled along the Limpopo carrying the ark . He also visited ancient cities in Egypt and Ethopia and I HAVE to visit the Holy Lands someday. I get so excited about ancient egypt, israel and biblical times. They even ventured underneath the city of Jerusalem in the dark caverns which are thousands of years old. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:00, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Yep not for long though another ten minutes or so. I'm glad I managed to get the Kenyan cities re-organized tonight. I left some of the biggest ones until last Nigeria, Congo, Tunisia and Egypt are still on my list. Then infoboxes/maps can be added and when they are all sorted, we can begin building new content. I also watched a documentary last night on how the chinese are trying to take over the Congo by offering to develop their country in return for their minerals. Weird isn't it China in the congo. I find the chinese very concerning -I think the world has to watch out for them in the future. China may try to do a Blofeld and dominate the world. They already take up 1/6 of the world in population. But that Lost Ark of the Covenant was a really amazing watch. If I could get hold of some books on ancient stuff I'd try to write some full length articles, this is when I feel at my best when I am putting something scholarly into wikipedia but so much needs doing with our crappy stubs and red links that I doubt I will get a chance to real soon. I'm sure we could get gold of some nice books to write good articles on Amitabh and Rekha too ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:03, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes its done I sorted DRC and Nigeria in one day. Category:Cities, towns and villages in Nigeria -it was a monster but now it is done! Took me at least 500 edits to sort it out ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC) No, the highest is about 173,000 but he has been here since around 2003. I currently have nearly 142,000 so thats third I think. User:Charles Matthews has 141,000 -I never thought I'd ever get anywhere near that. Most of my edits are those that can be done in seconds but it still is quite high, but sorting out these cities demands a lot of edits. But given that 120,000 edits are made to wiki every day, its nothing. But for me number of articles created is so much more important, and indeed number of GA's!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes I think I will soon enough. You see I was very late getting the Internet in my house. I never had it when I was a teenager (I barely stayed in the house between 7-18 and even did much of my revising outside!!). I;ve only had it since late 2005, and now I have a newer flat screen dell PC, but wikipedia I see as a tremendous privelage to be able to edit something so massive and develop it even further. This is why I try to get as much done as possible and as quickly as possible because I believe we are only in the baby stages of wikipedia's development. I can't see anything ousting wikipedia while the Internet is here and I remain confident it will grow increasingly and get better. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, the busier I am the happier I am! What I;d like to see some day is all of these articles fully developed and full of images as most of these places have never been seen before in the "west". Gradually we can change this and revolutionize the world! All those Borats out there -get snapping like the Japanese!!! Get those photos coming in! Chak De cleanup
[edit]Great job cleaning up the Chak De India article. Thanks for your help with it - particularly linking all of the dates. I wasn't aware of that MOS rule. I made a few minor changes, but nothing major.
I would like to discuss your edit to the cast list. The list was previously organized alphabetically by first name which is why Vidya was at the bottom.
Take a look at this interview with Shimit Amin (cited in the plot summary) -rediff asks, "The promos seem to reveal -- correct me if I'm wrong -- this is a 'no-heroine' film. Isn't that a big risk?" and Amin answers, "Yes, there are no heroines. That was something we didn't require because of the way the story was carved out." http://www.rediff.com/movies/2007/aug/07shimit.htm
Since we can only post according to references, this would seem to preclude putting Vidya first. My only other suggestion would be to find a reference justifying putting her first. If not, I think we should put her back down at the bottom to maintain alphabetical order.
Again, good work. -Classicfilms (talk) 00:56, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Impressive argument and fair. She is also credited as the first Chak De girl on the IMDB page. On the official site however, "Preeti Sabarwal" is listed as first in the character description section and the actress who portrays her, Sagarika Ghatge, receives top billing. So I went ahead and moved the name to the bottom of the list for a few reasons. Lists sometimes get out of control and difficult to manage if there isn't a means to organize it. We don't have to stay with alph. by first name if you can suggest a better way - I just think there should be some organizing structure. Secondly, the article I cited reflects a larger theme of the film which is the idea of unity among the characters, something which was reflected for example when the entire group of 16 won the best supporting actress award. Since this is the case, the WP should reflect the intentions of the filmmakers.
- I hope you continue to work on the page since you have a lot of experience with film articles. You are right it still needs a great deal of development and I hope even more people eventually become involved since that is what makes for a successful article. Regards, -Classicfilms (talk) 15:23, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Riya Sen
[edit]Riya Sen should be ready for another go at GAN. Would you care to take a look and leave your comments on the talk page? Aditya(talk • contribs) 15:46, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
I've looked over it its improved a lot since I last looked and it; I've made some changes including a new image. I think it needs a good bit of copy editing to be honest. Some of the phrases and sentences are quite awkward and will need complete altering. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:13, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
"Riya Sen, since joining Bollywood, has become a representative of the aspirations of younger people of India by way of her clothing style, kissing scenes and outgoing manners" -this is far too generalized and POV however much of a model she is. All the stuff on the glitzy parties and bikinis. Much of that reads like blog and will have to be seriously cut and reworded ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:23, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
I know. The problem is that many of these claims are referenced as if it is a solid fact. There are always different ways of looking at something but even if the actress is a popular culture icon and is adored and copied by millions across India generalised comments MUST be avoided as there will be many, many who aren't even slightly influenced by Riya Sen. The media section is the most problematic for me. I would also think about rewriting the acting section to include the on Hindi films in with it. I think she has done enough non Hindi films to make her a credible actress in other Indian film industries, I would suggest just writing her career in one section but I can see how some might find it easier this way.
Meanwhile I have just started Kalyan minaret. A fine piece of architecture. Hopefully there is some info to add to it!

I just find it so amazing that sombody in Eastern Australia can see articles like [[]]Ely, Cardiff!! which is about ten miles away. Wikipedia is one of the few examples I can think of which show the world uniting as one. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:06, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Ah I have such fond childhood memories of these places. Roath Park always reminds me of my beloved grampy (not the Jewish one the other one). He always did a great deal for my sister and I as children and would take us to Roath Park on the lake and feed the ducks. This image is like revisiting it again. It was beautiful. St Fagans National History Museum is another one. Loved that place as a kid with all the centuries old style buildings and that.

Wow I just love Indian architecture. I love those buildings with the pillars -awesome!! In fact one of my favourite Bond locations was in India, when they showed the Taj Mahal and the Monsoon Palace (Kabir Bedi) was in that film. It looks majestic! If you came to Wales I bet you'd love the Gower peninsula, Pembrokeshire and the Brecon Beacons. Snowdonia is in the north west. I used to go toboganning every winter up Brecon when I was younger down the mountainsides in the snow. Have a look at Image:Snowdonia.jpg. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 09:30, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Cool. I'm not feeling much like editing today. Perhaps I'll edit a few films but I feel lazy today . You like Luis Buñuel? I think he is one of the greatest directors of all time. Pedro Armendáriz was a great actor too. I think I'll try to start all of their films sometime ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:58, 20 April 2008 (UTC) Good taste! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:14, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Did you about this. Half of the actors who filmed on location in that area died from various cancers. I'm not certain there is a real connection but it does seem a high amount. 91 people who worked on the same film seems very high doesn't it ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes I'm not sure it is connected to the film set, but its a very high percentage. But the evidence is there with places like Chernobyl and Hiroshima though isn't it. Any idea which films you want to start today? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:28, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
